Zoloft treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft treatment

zoloft

Avatar f tn Well, he can give a medication or two that will indeed curb it. For example, I take an SSRI called Zoloft, and while it's for my depression, it also has the effect of calming my tendency to be obsessive about stuff. On the list of reasons why Zoloft is prescribed, OCD is one of them. I didn't even realize how often I would get "stuck" on doing a particular thing until I began taking that drug. Now it's wonderful...
1647108 tn?1301275694 i have PTSD too, from combat in panama i take an anti-depressant(zoloft) and an anti-psychotic(respiridone){for schizophrenia} and cogentin(for tardive dyskinesia) i go to group therapy and attend counseling for all of this; see if you can talk to a therapist or a doctor or a psychiatrist ok :)
Avatar f tn Zoloft definitely has a proven track record in treating anxiety disorders. Many medications actually are approved by the FDA for multiple uses and while it may not have originally been 'designed' for anxiety, it can be prescribed long term for treatment purposes. Benzos like Xanax are usually prescribed short term on as needed basis...Xanax has a fairly short half life and can become addictive if used on a regular basis for a long period of time in my opinion.
Avatar f tn Where you so tired also before you where on Zoloft? Tiredness can be caused by depression and anxiety, you could discuss a higher Zoloft dose.Id also advise therapy, meds alone is usually not enough to beat this.
887932 tn?1241331703 hi i have resently tapered down off 150 mg of zoloft the side affects are driving me mad i suffer from night sweats mood swings clogged head dizzyness sleep disruption body aches no headaches thankgod.
Avatar f tn My OBGYN (yes, my gyno) prescribed me 50mg of Zoloft last Thursday. I know Zoloft is both an antidepressant and anti-anxiety, but I would prefer to be on something more geared towards the anxiety. I don't have a depression-just severe generalized anxiety. How should I go about discussing switching to a more anti-anxiety focused med? I've heard a lot of bad things about Zoloft. I hear a lot of people gain weight & this is a huge concern for me. Thanks for the help!
Avatar f tn I increased my Zoloft last night from 75mg to 100mg, and within 1 hour of taking it I started to get very anxious and had a few mild panic attacks, is this normal?
Avatar m tn I started zoloft two anda half weeks ago. I started to feel ok for one or two days but I feel like I crashed. Feel severely fatigued. If zoloft works won't I feel better on a consistent basis or is that how it kicks in, you feel ok and then feel bad. The day that I felt the best I couldn't get to sleep that night that triggered I think the fatigue. How will I know if it is working?
7196584 tn?1389166823 i finally got health insurance a dr i like and plan to keep and he was SHOCKED when i said they had me on 100mg of Zoloft a day for severe GAD..he said that it was more for depression. he has started me on Ativan 1 mg twice a day if needed...it worked for my anxiety THANK GOOD but he tells me its a short term fix and i may be moved to a more helpful longterm drug....i finally feel good ...i finally feel calm why cant i just stay on Ativan???..and is there something that will keep me level?
Avatar m tn so i take zoloft for my anxiety but it says its used for an anti depressant. whats up with that?
Avatar n tn Sertraline is also known as ‘Zoloft’; I was prescribed Zoloft many years ago, but didn’t continue beyond two or three months; I didn’t seem to get any benefit from it-- Bill
Avatar f tn i take zoloft...i started at 50mil...two months before tx....now i'm at 150....iit will make you sleepy..or might...you'll have to give it a month to see if it works for you...i cut back to 100 a few weeks ago but my gf wasn't happy with that....back on 150....good luck...
Avatar f tn While it is true that Strattera might help with anxiety, that is not the purpose for which it is usually prescribed. And with the Zoloft, it may well be that it is a good treatment for her, but that the dose is simply not adequate. It is often true that a medication might not be useful at one dose and quite useful at a somehwat higher dose. The challenge is to find the right medication at the right dose.
Avatar n tn warned me about starting treatment because I have been on and off anti-depressants for years. Can anyone recommend a liver friendly one that works well with the combination therapy?
Avatar f tn My doctor says says I may have possible ms. I am taking zoloft for treatment ,by my neurologist. I have a have a whole lot of wide spread numbness that gets worse with movement when I try to work at production, it causes me to get dizzy feel weak and have other symptoms. I mentioned it to my regular doctor and he added another anti deppressenant, Elavil. 25 MG. The zoloft is 100mg . I was wanting your opinion of being on two differnt types of antidepressants at the same time.
Avatar n tn can i just stop zoloft after taking 25mg 1 week then 50mg the next week .
Avatar m tn What I do know is I was put on an anti-anxiety med fairly early into my treatment for my thyroid condition. But I was refused anti-depressants over and over. I don't honestly know if the anti-anxiety med worked or not. I know if I miss it now it is a big deal. I think it has helped me, but who truly knows? I don't know why I was refused anti-depressants. My GP said it would interfere with my treatment. My Endo told me it would interfere with my treatment.
Avatar n tn There are side effects and they are most likely used as last resort treatment. There are many alternatives that you can try before trying Zoloft. Small dose is not a solution as you can build up tolerance and need to up your dose. I encourage you to watch this video before getting on antidepressants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed zoloft for me about a week ago but I am so scared to start taking it. Does anyone know of any known side effects please tell me.
Avatar m tn If you are depressed or have a history of depression you probably should see a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment. It is better to start antidepressants before starting treatment because they take 3-4 weeks (or longer) to get the full effect of the antidepressant. Here are a couple sites that might have some helpful information: http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4673379_st-johns-wort-work.html http://depression.emedtv.com/st.-john's-wort/does-st.-john's-wort-work.
Avatar m tn One more thing- anyone on Zoloft- I have been on Zoloft 100mg/day for about 2 years, again with few results. I note from the on line info that dosages of up to 200 mg/day are OK- needless to say I should explore having my dosage raised before switching from Zoloft to something else? Also, anybody have any relief from OTC stuff like St. John's Wart, Magnessium supplements, Serydyn or others, or are these a waste of money?
Avatar f tn s possibly the drowsiness or nausea you are mentioning. Give it some time to see. It takes about 6 to 8 weeks for Zoloft to work. And Zoloft is a good drug but the thing about that one in particular is that there may be some trial time to get the right dose. It does tend to take a higher dose for effectiveness than the starting dose. Also (I keep thinking of things to add, lol) with antidepressants like Zoloft, it may help to start low and raise the dose slowly. Tapering up.
Avatar f tn I am on my fifth day of Zoloft and am wondering when I can expect some results??? Will my anxiety be gone or just lower then it is now???
Avatar f tn Unforutunately this can be a side effect of SSRIs like Zoloft. Zoloft has done the same thing to me, but has not inhibiited it too badly. I talked about it with my wife, and over time, it really has improved. There are definately different classes of medicatins that you can take. Some people even say different SSRIs affect their libidos differently. Have you talked about your options with your doctor?
Avatar n tn My sleep was poor before the treatment but not this bad. When I was on zoloft previously I was on a smaller dose as I was a teen then. I don't remember getting headaches like this. Should I take something for the headaches? Should I stop taking the zoloft? Or should I wait it out and if so for how long. I am currently uninsured and had to pay full price for the zoloft so I really hate to try another med after spending all that money on a 90 script of 100mg pills. Please help me.
