Zoloft dosage treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft dosage treatment

zoloft

Avatar n tn If the doctor prescribed that dosage, then I would trust him/her. Zoloft is typically prescribed from 50-200mg, so your son is taking a 'normal' dosage in my opinion. I was on Zoloft a couple of years ago and had no major problems coming off of it. Just ensure when it is time to come off the medication work with your doctor and taper down slowly.
Avatar f tn I'm currently taking zoloft at a dose of 200mg daily, in the morning. My doctor's instructions were to go all the way up to the maximum dose of zoloft because he believes that my combination of depression, anxiety, PTSD and bulimia might simply be treatment resistant. I've been on zoloft twice before, but never at a dose any higher than 150mg. I've been on the 200mg dose of zoloft for five weeks now, and though I had initial side effects they did go away.
Avatar n tn Hi There I suffer from depression and am on 200mg Zoloft daily. I increased my dosage after giving birth to my daughter because I (of course) had antenatal depression. Every day I wake up with nervous tension and it is driving me nuts! I was wondering if this is because I am taking a high dosage of Zoloft? I am scared to go down because I don't want to be in that depressive place.
Avatar f tn Also I have been taking a trazodone 50 mg at night and it really was a struggle to sleep when it usually knocks me out. Is it the Zoloft dosage increase?
Avatar f tn After 8 days he wants me to take 150mg of Zoloft continuously. Along with Zoloft he prescribed me a half pill of Xanax every morning and another half in the evening for the first 10 days of the treatment only. I am kind of afraid and worried to start with all this dosage. Please i need an advice whether to start with this treatment or see another doctor. I am 22 years old.
Avatar f tn Zoloft definitely has a proven track record in treating anxiety disorders. Many medications actually are approved by the FDA for multiple uses and while it may not have originally been 'designed' for anxiety, it can be prescribed long term for treatment purposes. Benzos like Xanax are usually prescribed short term on as needed basis...Xanax has a fairly short half life and can become addictive if used on a regular basis for a long period of time in my opinion.
489656 tn?1249999983 they say the benifits outwiegh the risk along with your treatment of zoloft u should read a book called anxiety and phobia workbook by bourne its 19 dollars at most book stores..
Avatar m tn t worry I know people on 250 a day and Zoloft is safe at that dosage) Then I would add Deplin which will help the Zoloft work better. Deplin a simply a very concentrated form of Folic Acid (really just a vitamin) that helps antidepressants like Zoloft work better. (keep in mind Deplin is only avalible with perscription) That's not a radical change and if it failes to help, then at least your not having to stop Abilify when it failes to work.
Avatar n tn it is never a good idea to self medicate or adjust dosage on your own. Why have you decided to stop taking Zoloft?
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed zoloft for me about a week ago but I am so scared to start taking it. Does anyone know of any known side effects please tell me.
5561272 tn?1369997680 I have been on 50mg of generic Zofolt a day for awhile now for OCD, and anxiety issues. It was working pretty good for me then all the sudden just seemed to stop. My Dr. upped the dosage to 100mg a day and it has helped some but I am still suffering from the itching. I get bad cases of itching on the back of my neck and on my forearms. I don't breakout or have any kind of rash. I will just start to itch and will scratch until it bleeds sometimes.
Avatar n tn The typical dosage range for Zoloft is between 50 to 200 Mgs a day. The dosage depends on the person. Each of us has different levels at which any given AD medication may be effective. The maximum effective dosage for Zoloft is 200Mgs a day. That simply means that regardless of the patient that any more than 200 Mgs a day will not produce a response if less than 200 day has failed to produce a response. I can understand your concern and it is VERY justified.
Avatar f tn Ooops, I was going to briefly touch on the Sulpiride. This medication is not used here in the US, so I don't have any first hand experience with it, but I know it is an anti-psychotic medication. Again,in MY opinion...I don't care for the use of antipsychotic meds in some situations. I think they are being overly prescribed as an adjunct therapy before other options are explored.
Avatar n tn I suffered Post partum twice & have not had an anxious moment in 8 years since my daughter was born. 2 weeks ago it all came back, I am going through a divorce but think it is for the best. Has this happened to anyone else? I am doing the same treatment of Zoloft & minimal Ativan but it is taking longer.
Avatar f tn Doctors rarely start you out on such a high dosage, they prefer to start with the lowest dosage and if needed increase it with time. Also, even lay people know that you should never just stop these medications cold turkey.....bad withdrawals. Psychiatrist are the most knowledgeable when it comes to these types of medications, I would make an appt. to see one and hold off on starting such a high dosage until you speak to him.
Avatar f tn I increased my Zoloft last night from 75mg to 100mg, and within 1 hour of taking it I started to get very anxious and had a few mild panic attacks, is this normal?
Avatar m tn I note from the on line info that dosages of up to 200 mg/day are OK- needless to say I should explore having my dosage raised before switching from Zoloft to something else? Also, anybody have any relief from OTC stuff like St. John's Wart, Magnessium supplements, Serydyn or others, or are these a waste of money?
Avatar f tn You say you were taking Zoloft at 2Mgs a day? I didn't even know Zoloft came in such a low dosage. I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day. Lowest dosage is 50mgs a day and even that dosage is too low for most people.
630047 tn?1289248521 I have a question about my med's....I am currently on 25mg of Zoloft daily. My doctor wanted to start me off slowly so that the side effects weren't to bad. I have an appointment with her in a week and a half were we are planning on uping the dosage to 50mg/daily. I am no longer feeling sideeffects of the med's and am wonder the following: Is it safe to take 2 x 25mg of the zoloft? Rather than waiting until I go and see my doctor.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm glad you have a doctor you trust! I'm wondering if you two discussed doing a smaller dose? I get the sense that is what you are feeling should be done. It would make sense to me that your body is familiar with the substance even if the dose is changed, but chemicals effect everyone differently and your body may have difficulty handling any change in it. Or even handling the chemical at all - There isn't much way to know except by manipulating the intake.
9266905 tn?1402808881 Hi! I hope you are feeling better! I have so many questions myself and just started a small dose of Zoloft Being on it before I do know it took like two weeks to start really working. I also know that when you increase, it should be in smaller increments. I'm not a doctor but why would he have you double your dose? Yikes? Some of the side effects can cause you more worry! Believe me..... I think I have every deadly thing going on in my body right now.
