Zoloft and nursing mothers

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and nursing mothers

zoloft

Avatar f tn t take Eglonyl or Zoloft is because it is most likely to cause weight gain and I am already overweight and unhappy about it.
Avatar f tn As far as drinking milk with Zoloft, again my nursing book actually recommends drinking milk with the Zoloft if you're having any GI symptoms. Maybe the rules are different when you're pregnant, but I wouldn't sit around waiting to find out. I urge you to discuss all of this with your OB as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn I will soon be nursing my second child, I'm due any day and I have chronic hypertension. You should already be taking a pregnancy safe medication for hypertension and if what you're taking now is not safe for nursing, then your doctor will change your meds after you have rhe baby. Just make sure he or she knows that you are planning on nursing at your next appointment and they should be able to answer any questions you have.
Avatar n tn hi, did your dr. know you were nursing your baby? why would they give you an antidepressant while your nursing? i understand you had postpartum depression but they should have told you not to nurse her while you were taking this drug. this is only my opinion. you have to figure that whatever your putting into your body the baby is getting that too. she may very well be going through withdrawal. i hope you both start feeling better. you've been through the worst of the withdrawal. take care.
1173196 tn?1292916490 I've been taking anti-depressants for about 7 years, zoloft for the last 3. When I got pregnant, I researched it online and everything said that it should be discontinued after 28 weeks because it can cause hypertension in a newborn. I asked all 3 of my midwives, and they each told me that there was no danger in continueing zoloft for the entire pregnancy and even while breastfeeding. I've already cut my dose by half anyway.
Avatar f tn I got really sick and lost weight and then before I had a chance to heal up I was busy packing up boxes and moving them. I want to continue to breastfeed my baby but since all of that wear and tear on my body my milk supply is almost non-existent. I drink a lot of water and eat well, is there anything else nutrition-wise I can take to help my body recover from all this and get my milk supply back up?
Avatar f tn I'm currently in nursing school.Has anyone ever had a baby and went back to school or did you take a semester off. I didn't want to stop school..

362203 tn?1248810310 Concerns about antithyroid drugs center on the risk of thyroid suppression and goiter in the nursing infant, and cite concerns over potential nonthyroid side effects of antithyroid drugs, for example, autoimmune disturbances.
8106960 tn?1396643389 I started full time college classes when my son was 6 months old. I was in a nursing program so classes were on campus and clinical were at any one of five medical facilities within an hour's drive. My brother watched my son one day a week, my bf changed his work schedule to be able to stay home with him one day a week, and he went to an in-home daycare the rest of the week. I was in school for 2.5 years, just graduated in December having earned my degree as an RN.
4437866 tn?1388119624 Here are some tips that have proven helpful to other mothers (both in and out of the military) in maintaining and boosting their milk supply: Breastfeed often and exclusively (no bottles or pacifiers) when off duty and at home. This includes evenings, nights, and weekends.  Remember: When my baby is with me, he gets the breast. When he is at daycare, he gets the bottle.
Avatar f tn I had this problem with my left breast because of constant pain/blister from the baby not latching on correctly. Once it healed I tried nursing again and mine went back up.
5658764 tn?1371825008 I have been on zoloft over 10 years now, and I know that zoloft continues to work better and better over time, and will level out at some point. I hope this is helpful.
Avatar f tn Is there any mothers out there that have went through similar and can give me some kind of advice? Any would be helpful. I want to keep my pregnancy safe as possible but I need to be able to support my children better.
Avatar f tn I am also 37 and want to become pregnant. I was on Zoloft and now on Lexapro and have been told by my gynecologist and a mid-wife that both are safe to be on while pregnant. In fact, they said they would prefer me to stay on the medication during pregnancy because if I'm not healthy and taking care of myself, it would be bad for the baby. There are blogs like this one for mothers and mothers to be where you can post your question.
Avatar f tn Just nursing whenever baby wants it, and eating well and staying hydrated. Your body will continue to make it as long as you need it! If you want you can get mothers milk tea. But you should be fine without it too.
Avatar f tn t have much for breastfeeding mothers and you usually have to go spend a lot of money at specialty baby stores etc... so to find what I needed for cheap, yeah I got excited. Does anyone know other places I can find nursing bras and clothes for cheap?
13042940 tn?1437395956 Yes i deal with anxiety and depression everyday im still pregnant and shes due in a week and i have a feeling i will be feeling the same way....
Avatar f tn I was on the zoloft for the entire pregnancy both times and am still on it now even though i am nursing. i do both nursing and bottle feeding. none of my kids have troble sleeping as far as being irritable, they are colicly but i don't know if that is because of meds or just them.
Avatar f tn Everything lindsagain said and there are other things to try couple different teas from the mothers milk one (I agree horrible taste) and supplements and certain foods are suppose to help boost milk production like oatmeal.
Avatar m tn All these data concern prevention of intrauterine and perinatal transmission in mothers with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis and/or high titers of HBV DNA. Some questions arise regarding breastfeeding in cases of chronic hepatitis B. Firstly, most studies that have been concerned with vertical or early childhood transmission have not reported breastfeeding rates, or if they have, the data are still the subject of debate.
Avatar n tn Babies born to mothers that are HIV positive. Babies that are nursing on mothers that are HIV positive. That is your risks.
202436 tn?1326474333 My sister took zoloft the entire duration of 2 of her pregnancies and her and her babies had no complications... You are your doctor will decide what is best for you. Do not stop cold turkey. Your doctor will insturct you how to wean yourself off if that is your intention.
1215833 tn?1287969475 it made all my fears, thoughts, paranoia, anxiety worse than it ever has been, and also i had LIKE NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL, and related it to just having a baby, and being tired, and whatnot, and maybe partly the drug. So.... after a rather disturbing dream i had a couple of mo ago, i weaned off and now ive been COMPLETELY off zoloft for 5 weeks. I do FEEL way better!!!! im doing far less ruminating than i was on the drug.. but im still not quite there yet...
