Avatar n tn s advice and what should I do about this I have a severe case of adhd mixed with anxiety and I am a grown adult that needs medication for my adhd for school and work and I get really frustrated that my parents don't let me control my own meds in general they know I don't abbuse it but every time I need my meds I have ask them and it makes my anxiety act up even more cuz I have to call them tell them I need my meds and it's annoying because they r not always their how can I get them t
Avatar f tn If I give him just the Zoloft, then he is fine, his anxiety is down and less violent, but climbs the walls and has to be given a benadryl to calm him down. If he is only given the Metadate then he is not as hyper, but very dangerous to be around when he "snaps". He was suppose to start Kindergarten this year, but because I don't feel he is safe to be around or even ready I have chosen to home school him instead.
Avatar m tn He is taking meds that I feel couter act one another....reperidone.25mg 2 x day, vyvanse 30 mg 1 x a day, zoloft 1/2 25mg a day, and methyphidate 10 mg 1 x a day in afternoon. Help. Does these different medicines seem necessary. He is still have concentration issues.
Avatar f tn have a 5 year old son (only child) who was diagnosed with adhd and placed on adderal 5 mg. it has not worked so we have taken him off. he has also been diagnosed with ocd for constantly peeling the skin off his thumbs/fingers and now starting on his toes. the dr wants to place him on zoloft to treat the ocd. will this help with the adhd in school?? He is very smart and ahead of his class but cannot wait his turn and blurts, etc. Very active and constantly moving.
Avatar f tn Reading what you have written I would get a 2nd opinion i would be looking into bipolar add and obsessive compulsive. Bipolar and add/adhd are very similar and add can be diagnosed when in actual fact its bipolar. I believe my mood disorder is bipolar because i had a short manic episode followed by the most depressed episode of my life which is what i am going through now. Do you have a short fuse/Bad temper do you follow things through. Do you feel content?
Avatar f tn The problem arises if the depression and anxiety are caused by ADHD or ADD, as Zoloft will only mask the symptoms and not treat the cause. And sometimes, if the child does have ADHD, being only on Zoloft can make things worse. I mention this because anxiety and depression are major co-disorders of ADHD or ADD. Has he been evaluated for AD/HD?
Avatar f tn which is the best med for adhd and odd together, zoloft and concerta or straterra and is their something organic that can work?
1429536 tn?1283127572 I am diagnosed with Bipolar 1 and ADHD and impulsiveness is a huge problem. I took probably 15 - 20 100 mg Zoloft pills. About 10 minutes later my boyfriend made me make myself puke. I didn’t see any come back up unless they hid in my food. I feel very weird right now. Am I going to be ok?
Avatar f tn s only the adderall, or a combination of adderall and zoloft. I felt they added the adderall a little quickly after only being on zoloft a month. I am just praying this behavior was due to the medication and will go away.
Avatar f tn I am on Zoloft for 3 weeks, and not feeling much improvement. My pdoc is adding Abilify at bedtime, and I am quite apprehensive about this combination. Can anyone shed any light on this or have any experience with it? I want to get well! Thank you, and may you all be well.
Avatar f tn She sees a psychologist and a pediatrician. Her psychologist "thinks" she has ADHD. And she probably does... both her dad and I did as children. I took Ritalin as a kid, but her dad never received any medical support. He just got into a lot of trouble his whole adolescence. He is also very violent and has some other mental issues. She inherited a lot of his psychological issues. He suffered from night terrors- so does she.

Avatar f tn The results were 99th perceptible for iQ, adhd and possible ODD. We have since taken him to a number of drs and therapists. His first grade year went pretty smooth a few hiccups but mostly good. At home we didn't see to many. His dad deployed this past july 2014 and he same day his first major angry outburst. They started increasing over the summer and now in the 2nd grade it's almost a daily occurrence.
Avatar n tn I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines-- I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.
Avatar n tn I have been on meds for a WHILE and I do NOT see the urge to quit my picking. My son has ADHD and he is CONSTANTLY picking at his cuts and scrapes, he looks like a junkie and his arms and legs look SO bad! How dare I tell him to stop when I am constantly in the mirror picking myself, having him look for blackheads on my dog, etc? I also have had an eating disorder for about 25 years now (bulimia and infrequent months of anorexia).
Avatar n tn It is possible that your son has both ADHD and anxiety issues. However, it is common today for medical personnel to misdiagnose a child because the behaviours for some anxiety disorders and ADD/ADHD are very similar. Since the medication for ADHD is not working, I wonder if this could be the problem in your son's situation - he suffers from anxiety but not ADD/ADHD. Usually, the medication for anxiety is one of the SSRI's - non-habit-forming medications.
Avatar f tn I have heard and read it all so I know and I have done my due diligence to make sure this was the best thing for me. I take a low dose and always have and always will. I actually do have adhd and I have gotten several opinions regarding this. Adderall seemed to be the medication that worked best for me. I still have to manage my adhd symptoms to some degree but the medication enables me to actually be successful in managing the symptoms - if that makes sense.
Avatar n tn The only diagnosis that he still has is ADHD. After a year of being off Zoloft all of the harsh side effects were gone and he was happy again. No more tics or outbursts. Occasionally, he gets upset, but no hitting or throwing of things, just yells and then calms down. He is like any other 11 year old boy. I would get a second opinion and make sure that the psychologist and psychiatrist are specifically trained in pediatrics. I hope that this helps and please let us know how he is doing.
Avatar n tn my heart races and Im becoming physically sick now. Im currently taking zoloft/abilify and adderall.. I dont know if I should generally be worried about this or its just my anxiety. Its starting to consume my days ..everyday.
Avatar n tn I wish I knew the answer to why -- I feel for you and your son. Tourettes and ADHD and seizures often go together in people. It is not entirely understood why, but it is believed that they all are caused by brain chemistry differences. With this in mind, it seems to make sense that someone who has different brain chemistry might have various types of differences, and thus various types of symptoms. Has your neurologist given you any information on this?
Avatar m tn i have advanced MS, mild atherosclerosis, cirrhosis of the liver from drugs and alcohol, and 4 years ago i dxed with major depression. i am currently taking 50 mgs of zoloft for the last 3 years. i always did well in school and the work place. but i never got close to my potential. my wife passed 6 weeks ago, and i am now the single father of 2 teenage girls. i made an appt with my psych and asked him for help with my lack of focus. we agreed on a dx of ADD, but he will not treat me.
1518656 tn?1290878194 When he started kindergarten I told his teacher of the disorder and the possiblity of ADHD and she just said that he was a boy and that it was to early to tell. Half way thru the year he is unable to recognize his ABC's and 123's he is very smart and very very artistic. He loves school but in the past few months his teacher has said that he has very bad anxiety almost to the point of a panic attack or crying. We made a ADHD appt. with his ped.

284002 tn?1244547555 Depression - Anxiety - ADHD I have been on 150 mg of Wellbutrin for 2 years and a week ago went to 300mg for Depression and ADHD. I have been having heart palpitations and feeling very irritable. Will these symptoms go away if I hang in there longer? if not ... What else would you recommend I try?
Avatar f tn I had left a message for the pediatrician telling him that the other dr said not to go on the Straterra because it is for ADHD and to just up her zoloft to 50 mg. Her pediatrician said for her to go on the Straterra even though its for ADHD because kids with anxiety are also treated with it. He also said there is no use in increasing the zoloft since it hasn't worked.
Avatar n tn I'm diagnosed with ADHD and depression at 25mg amphetamine tab daily (15 morning, 10 lunch), and 15mg Sertraline every breakfast, respectively. Regarding the ADHD, my psychiatrist told me I should probably take a "pill holiday" with the Adderall every once in a while when I don't study or when I am not doing much work. I tried that once, but I think it somewhat threw off my treatment for depression.
Avatar f tn I am a 30 year old female that has suffered from depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD since childhood. I have been on at least 7 different medications over the years that have and have not worked for various symptoms; however, I can't find one that works for them all. I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 3 years and it works great for my depression and the best thing I've ever taken for my OCD, but my anxiety is worse than it has ever been.
Avatar f tn my 5 year old son is diagnosed with ADHD, disruptive behavior and a mood disorder, and possibly depression and anxiety. he has been prescribed ritalin, medidate, depakote, and zoloft. all together. That seems to be alot of medication for a small young child. Im very worried for him, is this safe for him?
