Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections men women

yeast-infection

Avatar m tn Yeast infections are much less common in men than women. When men get yeast infections they can arrise spontaneously just as they do in women but on some occasions, they can also arise from contact with an infected sex partner. When they occur they can appear as red bumps or a rash and red or pink bumps in the infected area. Sometimes but not always they itch. With that as background: 1. Yes, you could have gotten an infection. 2.
Avatar n tn Yes men can catch yeast infections and bacteria infections too. They can get them and give them. Both are not considered a std because they can occur on their own in women bodies without any sexual contact.
Avatar m tn Yeast infections are not caused by std's. Yeast is distinct and can be determined during examination under a wet mount. Some women just get recurring yeast infections for reasons that cannot be explained.
Avatar n tn I feel horrible. My boyfriend is a big GERM-PHOBIC person....... I never knew men could even get yeast!???is this possible?
Avatar f tn A week after my boyfriend and I had sex, he got a yeast infection. I have no symptoms of anything but I've read that men usually get yeast infections from women. Does this mean I most likely gave it to him? And if so, how do I go about curing it and preventing it in the future?
Avatar f tn I am so sick of the yeast infections, Ill try anything!! And dont flip out theyre so normal in women.
Avatar m tn Your wife probably does not understand the origins of yeast infections in women. They do not come from catching yeasts from their male sex partners. Women are naturally colonized with yeasts, usually in the intestines and often in the genital tract. When a woman gets a "yeast infection", it is usually not because she acquires yeast from her sex partner or anywhere else. The organism that is there all the time.
Avatar n tn its not really a burning sensation but more like a cool sensation..
Avatar f tn Ask the doc. Lots of women with bad hygiene don't get yeast infections, and lots of sparkly clean women get them. I think it's just a ph-balance thing.
Avatar m tn recently, my wife has been having frequent yeast infections. She would take over the counter yeast infection medication and it would go away. She has had her annual pap and described symptoms to her doctor. Her doctor stated that she was fine because if it was something else, yeast medication would not have releaved her symptoms. After taking all std test that I can think of, i read about trichamonasis and it symptoms. It stated that its mostly found in women and is hard to find in men.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if fluocinonide cream works for this? A few sites say it treats yeast infection but none of them specify if its penile yeast infections. Please help.
Avatar f tn high levels of simple sugars, processed foods and simple carbs can be a contributor to yeast infections. Some food allergies can also cause yeast infections. Sexual transmission: men CAN have yeast infections (their doctors may call it "jock itch" which can make it tough for a guy to even know he has a yeast infection), and women who are sexual partners can also transmit them between each other.
Avatar f tn Yep, treat both of you. But it may not be a cure all. Some women are just more prone to yeast infections. Some of it has to do with hormones especially oestrogen. When it tends to be cyclical, it lends more to the hormone theory. Sometimes women have candida that's quite mild but is treated effectively with anti fungal's but they don't show the classical signs ie cheesy discharge and itching. It can be linked to diet.
Avatar f tn t mean she has an odor or a bad taste. Some women can get yeast infections wearing the loosest, airiest, lightest clothing. If a woman has a bad odor, it usually indicates an infection, like yeast or bacterial vaginitis/vaginosis. Showering won't help that. Cleanliness is appreciated by everyone, of course, but most women clean themselves. Shaving and waxing is largely cultural, and in many cultures, women don't do this.
Avatar f tn If you can, it is best to clean your genitals after sex to get rid of any foreign bacteria. Men can also develop yeast infections in their genitals (although not usually as frequently as females). In these cases, sexual contact can transmit a yeast infection from one person to another. Be honest with your partner if you have a yeast infection to avoid spreading the infection. Poor eating habits – A healthy diet will help protect your body against infection.
Avatar n tn You can get a bacterial infection from having sex with someone who has one or just from having poor hygiene in general. What type of bacterial infection do you mean?
Avatar m tn Hi there. It is not an std and not something your wife has to tell you. :>) All women get things like UTI's, yeast infections and bacterial infections. Both yeast and bacterial infections (and uti's) are something that can happen all on their own and once there, can pass back and forth between man and woman very normally. They don't cause issues in men like they do women.
Avatar f tn If your partner HAS a yeast infection, then most definitely you could be contracting a yeast infection from him. Yeast infections aren't nearly as common in men as in women...have you asked him about it? He probably needs to go to his doctor, be diagnosed and treated if he has a yeast infection. Have you been taking antibiotics? That is the #1 cause of a yeast infection in most women. If you have...then what may be happening is...
Avatar m tn recently, my wife has been having frequent yeast infections. Her doctor confirmed it was yeast and gave her Didlucan 150mg. She would take over the counter yeast infection medication and it would go away and seems to come back maybe a week or two later after we have sex(unprotected). She has had her annual pap and described symptoms to her doctor. Her doctor stated that she was fine because if it was something else, yeast medication would not have releaved her symptoms.
Avatar n tn Wife has been having odd symptoms two yeast infections and irregular menstrual cycles since around that time frame. I know a bunch of things can cause irregular menstrual cycles but I see that it is a symptom of both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. What are the odd that I tested neg but yet my wife has either? I would prefer not to tell her but I’m starting to get worried. I think I will go for a retest soon.
