Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections men and women

yeast-infection

Avatar m tn Yeast infections are much less common in men than women. When men get yeast infections they can arrise spontaneously just as they do in women but on some occasions, they can also arise from contact with an infected sex partner. When they occur they can appear as red bumps or a rash and red or pink bumps in the infected area. Sometimes but not always they itch. With that as background: 1. Yes, you could have gotten an infection. 2.
Avatar n tn Yes men can catch yeast infections and bacteria infections too. They can get them and give them. Both are not considered a std because they can occur on their own in women bodies without any sexual contact.
Avatar m tn I have re-occuring yeast infections and cannot find out why. My doctor just said that I have so much up in there.I have been tested for lots of other things and all test came back clear. I can take something for it and it will go away, at least I think it does. But it comes back in like a month or so. So I know a little of what your wife is going through. I even thought that I was diabetic since that comes with diabetes. But I have no other symptoms of diabetes.
Avatar n tn m not exactly sure the treatment for men but for us pregnant women we have a wonderful single pill we take and within 3 days the nasty things is gone lol my husband isn't circumsized as well and I wonder if that does have something to do with it. Due to the fact that the extra skin there can harbor bacteria if not cleaned properly. My husband has given me yeast infection while pregnant after we've had sex.
Avatar f tn A week after my boyfriend and I had sex, he got a yeast infection. I have no symptoms of anything but I've read that men usually get yeast infections from women. Does this mean I most likely gave it to him? And if so, how do I go about curing it and preventing it in the future?
Avatar f tn I am so sick of the yeast infections, Ill try anything!! And dont flip out theyre so normal in women.
Avatar m tn Your wife probably does not understand the origins of yeast infections in women. They do not come from catching yeasts from their male sex partners. Women are naturally colonized with yeasts, usually in the intestines and often in the genital tract. When a woman gets a "yeast infection", it is usually not because she acquires yeast from her sex partner or anywhere else. The organism that is there all the time.
Avatar f tn Yes, it can, but you can also look at it the other way -- a big part of what protects us from mental illness are the beneficial organisms that live in our gut and intestinal tract and it is the disturbance of these organisms that allow yeast infections to find a welcome home. This often happens when we take antibiotics or eat too much sugar. Much current research is focusing on the connection between mental health and other diseases with imbalances in our beneficial bacteria.
Avatar f tn Ask the doc. Lots of women with bad hygiene don't get yeast infections, and lots of sparkly clean women get them. I think it's just a ph-balance thing.
19413498 tn?1477669741 Typical yeast infections are candida albicans, but I read of a type of yeast called candida glabrata that can be resistant to these medicines and represents 5% of all yeast infections. Have you ladies ever: 1. given your man a yeast infection or 2. had candida glabrata/or any yeast infection thats been resistant to medicine and what did you do I visited a dermatologist and they said it was just dry irritated skin, which I have a really hard time believing given the way it looks.
Avatar m tn recently, my wife has been having frequent yeast infections. She would take over the counter yeast infection medication and it would go away. She has had her annual pap and described symptoms to her doctor. Her doctor stated that she was fine because if it was something else, yeast medication would not have releaved her symptoms. After taking all std test that I can think of, i read about trichamonasis and it symptoms. It stated that its mostly found in women and is hard to find in men.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if fluocinonide cream works for this? A few sites say it treats yeast infection but none of them specify if its penile yeast infections. Please help.
Avatar f tn high levels of simple sugars, processed foods and simple carbs can be a contributor to yeast infections. Some food allergies can also cause yeast infections. Sexual transmission: men CAN have yeast infections (their doctors may call it "jock itch" which can make it tough for a guy to even know he has a yeast infection), and women who are sexual partners can also transmit them between each other.
Avatar f tn Go to you gynecologist an get checked out. it is possible your boyfriend has a yeast infection. semen not probable.
Avatar f tn alot of women dont know that men also get the infection and so they end up just giving it back to you after you have been treated and then HENCE: its back and forth [PING-PONG] as my dr. put it.
Avatar f tn Alternative medicine No alternative medicine therapies have proven to treat vaginal yeast infections. Some complementary and alternative therapies may provide some relief when combined with your doctor's care. Your doctor is likely to ask you a number of questions, including: Have you recently taken antibiotics? Are you sexually active? Are you pregnant? Do you use scented soap or bubble bath? Do you douche or use feminine hygiene spray?
Avatar n tn You can get a bacterial infection from having sex with someone who has one or just from having poor hygiene in general. What type of bacterial infection do you mean?
Avatar m tn i heard from a doctor herself that yeast infections CAN be passed back n forth between lovers if both male and female dont get treated for it. i believe it is just pills for men but women have a cream...(or pill form) Probably like a week and a half of no sex to clear it up im guessing.....good luck....
Avatar m tn Hi there. It is not an std and not something your wife has to tell you. :>) All women get things like UTI's, yeast infections and bacterial infections. Both yeast and bacterial infections (and uti's) are something that can happen all on their own and once there, can pass back and forth between man and woman very normally. They don't cause issues in men like they do women.
Avatar f tn If your partner HAS a yeast infection, then most definitely you could be contracting a yeast infection from him. Yeast infections aren't nearly as common in men as in women...have you asked him about it? He probably needs to go to his doctor, be diagnosed and treated if he has a yeast infection. Have you been taking antibiotics? That is the #1 cause of a yeast infection in most women. If you have...then what may be happening is...
Avatar m tn recently, my wife has been having frequent yeast infections. Her doctor confirmed it was yeast and gave her Didlucan 150mg. She would take over the counter yeast infection medication and it would go away and seems to come back maybe a week or two later after we have sex(unprotected). She has had her annual pap and described symptoms to her doctor. Her doctor stated that she was fine because if it was something else, yeast medication would not have releaved her symptoms.
Avatar n tn This can result in redness and itching (thrush in women and dhobi itch in men) which can last for a similar period to that of the antibiotic course. The rash can be controlled or cured by a suitable antifungal drug, but the infection is likely to clear up of its own accord in due course (presumably when the original bacterial/fungal balance has been properly restored).[wiki] The best home remedy against mold is Baking Soda. also Bleach, vinegar and some types of mouth wash.
