358971 tn?1330888975 I asked about metformin and she said that it was a dangerous drug and some actually gain weight on it (not what i need!). She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.
Avatar m tn If you asking on behalf of a female contemplating the use of the contraceptive product called YAZ or already using YAZ, please tell her that YAZ has been found to be a questionable product for birth control. By questionable , this is what I mean. I have seen commercials where lawyers are telling women who have used YAZ and have suffered severe side effects from using YAZ that they are entitled to a settlement. I conclude that the product YAZ can , in some cases, cause severe side effects.
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth. Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and my doctor presribed me with Yaz birth control pills and it help regulate the period. But is itnormal that I bleed everytime im fingered. Is it normal with PCOS? There’s always blood when the fingers come off.
Avatar f tn I have a serious question. I have PCOS and have been on clomid, femara, metformin etc. now my doctor wants to put me on birth control, which what ever, nothing else has worked why not try it again. But my concern is the type of birth control that it is. YAZ!!! I have done very little research about it but what I have found shows that there are more people out there that have negative things to say about it.
Avatar f tn I am still on yaz, this makes my second month. Turns out I am having side affects if you will, from this pill. I have a fever that runs between 98.9-99.4 and I am so emotional that its redicules, and I get hit with a dizzy spell at any point during the day, it is so weird.
1447404 tn?1284604228 This is my first week on these two medications. I was told that I have PCOS a week ago. I was wondering what side effects you have had from these drugs. Over the past year, I have gained 50 pounds by changing nothing at all. This gain happened while I was doing 1.5 hr cardio a day with weights & eating around 800 calories. (5'4, 160 now). My Dr. told me that Metformin would help with lowering my weight.Yet, I'm now on Yaz.
Avatar m tn Well I got on Yaz for a while. It was a Godsend!! I know exactly how she feels. I've been off of Yaz for 2 years now and the pain is starting to come back with my period getting longer again and longer time between them. I'm debating getting back on it. She can talk to her gyn about it. I also take perscription strength Ibuprofen during my cramping days. And during that time of month when I ovulate I have the same excrutiating pain too. I take the ibuprofen then too. it helps.
Avatar f tn The PCOS can also affect your periods/cycles (longer cycles, for example). Without the YAZ to regulate you, you may not have regular periods because of the PCOS.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why you are taking it a week later, I always was told same day you start your period??? I have PCOS as well. I have been miserable on yaz so I stopped it. Good luck, hopefully it will help you.
458967 tn?1268486055 I will be just getting of yaz and be starting clomid in 5 days. I have PCOS and was on yaz to have a period.I'm diabetic and In march i lost my baby in case u guys dont remember me. so that is pretty much my history sorry i have not been on in a while its summer and i'm not on the computer hardley at all, i'm usualy swimming, walkind dogs, garge saleing, and summer things .
Avatar m tn I know while I am there to get my results he is going to try to get me to take YAZ, which he suggested when I got my PAP exam (I researched YAZ and found some horror stories!!) or some sort of IUD...I don't know how to feel about that either. Should I listen to my instincts and avoid birth control? It seems to me it's just a band-aid and not a real solution to a problem. If I do have PCOS, are there other alternatives besides taking birth control? Please give me some guidance. Thanks.

Avatar f tn I have been on yaz for 3 months now. I am tired all the time. I can't sleep at night but can't get out of the bed in the morning. I have been have cramps all over my body. My legs, side, face, and every where in my muscles. I went to the Dr for blood work. They said my thyroid is not working right so they did more blood work. I am tired of hurting all the time. My OBGY said its not yaz. But I am worried. I am 40 and I'm not use to feeling like this.
287297 tn?1207305706 Hello, I was placed on birth control called Yaz. Birth control does help prevent cysts. I had to come off of it due to a medical condition. I went back to the Obgyn Wednesday and found out a cyst had burst. They did help me while I was on them..
Avatar f tn Well I had appt with the gyn and the endo. Both seem to think that my prim. Doc dx was wrong even tho they have not done any test. The endo is having blood work done next week for someting dff. They both seem to think that if I "bleed" every month then it CAN'T be pcos. So I am back to being lost as to what is going on. I really trust my primary doc b/c she is always so through (sp?) So I have 2 wait till after the 15th to see what the endo test say.

Avatar m tn ve always taken it for a few months, then stopped. I started YAZ about 6 months ago and only lasted about 2 months on it before quitting (my face broke out, i hated the way it made me feel, etc). At my most recent Gynecology visit about 3 months ago, I told my gynecologist that I had quit taking the YAZ. She was upset and said expressed how important it is for me to have a period each month. She prescribed to another birth control to try out to see if I respond to better.
780153 tn?1287568947 i am PCOS but i got pregnant after 2 months. i was about 5 months pregnant when my ob found out that the baby doesnt have a heartbeat... the doctor said i need to have a D and C. i undergo d and c last thursday feb. 26, 2009.. i would like to ask how long does it take to get pregnant??? is there any posibility that i will get pregnant right away the doctor said no contact untill the last day of my menstration... and also i am PCOS... will i get pregnant again???? thanks...
Avatar n tn Cysts in the ovaries are sign of PCOS. There is no known cure for PCOS. I have PCOS too. Doctor will put you on BCP to regularize your periods if you are not ttc. Usually they put you on metformin that takes of the cysts to some extent. What treatment are you going through?
Avatar f tn I have PCOS so I tend to stick with the pill, yaz or yazmin work for me.
Avatar f tn You might want to take a look at the Yaz birth control, as some of its side effects are the same as your symptoms, including hair loss.
Avatar f tn I was on Junel 1/20 for a couple of years, then went on Yaz for a month last April (I was living in Germany and the doctor ok'd it, even with my questions about health concerns). After going off Yaz, I have never had my period again and hadn't had it before that since February. I (stupidly) did not really think it was an issue until right around Christmas when my mother said I should get it checked out.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone!! I was just diagnosed this week with PCOS, I'm sooooo glad that there are so many others out there, who are going through the same stuff that I am. It's very scary to hear/read what may or may not happen down the road. I just started Metformin yesterday, and my OBGYN prescribed Seasonale. I'm working hard on changing my diet, and exercise! Anyone have any helpful words?
519035 tn?1348275773 How many of you have been successful at this time for your blood work. What birth control pills if any are you guys taking???? I am on yaz. but so far not helped with pms. I started pms'ing about three days ago blaming it on synthroid lol! i have extreme hot flashes, depression, mood swings, I feel like my body is out of control, which we already know it is! Thanks!
