Common Questions and Answers about Off yaz weight gain

yaz

Avatar f tn I am having the same issue. I went off YAZ in August. I have been bleeding off and on ever since. Sometimes heavy..sometime light. It is so frustrating and now it is almost Jan and I am still struggling with this. I have been to the doctor and he has told me that it is a side effect of going off the Pill, but I am wondering when it will go away. Any suggestions? Please Help. Thanks!
Avatar f tn birth control does make you gain weight. i hear it's as much as 5- 15 lbs!
1447404 tn?1284604228 This is my first week on these two medications. I was told that I have PCOS a week ago. I was wondering what side effects you have had from these drugs. Over the past year, I have gained 50 pounds by changing nothing at all. This gain happened while I was doing 1.5 hr cardio a day with weights & eating around 800 calories. (5'4, 160 now). My Dr. told me that Metformin would help with lowering my weight.Yet, I'm now on Yaz.
Avatar f tn I had switched to yaz because orthotricyclen made me so moody. Well Yaz made me gain weight and I stopped taking it anyway because my husband and I wanted to try and have a baby in the near future anyway. Well after stopping yaz I have got rapid heart beat, dizziness, shaking, feeling of numbness. They had to call 911 at work because I turned pale white and numb.
Avatar f tn I went off Yaz and started to notice weight gain after a few months, in about 2 years I gained a little over 40 lbs. I am absolutely miserable. I've tried dieting, exercising, and nothing has happened. I don't fit into any clothes, I hate my body and I have no idea what else to do. I had my hormone levels tested and my testosterone is a little high (45pg/ml).
Avatar f tn If i come off it I think I will go mental (as i have tried before) I have heard alot of bad things about YAZ and I was also told that BCP are not responsible for weight gain. If you are gaining weight I would ask for another Ultrasound to see if you have any cysts. I totally understand how you feel. I was always around 120-130 but since this endo business I seem to fluctuate between 140-155. I cant stand it and I have lots and lots of cellulite. It is so depressing I do agree with you.
Avatar n tn A year a ago I was on a pill and I thought that my anxiety and weight was an issue so I changed to the Yaz combined pill. My anxiety and weight haven't changed. I have never had trouble with weight until this past 2 years and although I am watching what I eat and exercise 3 times a week nothings is working. I also get extremely lethargic the week before my period and this has been since my last child 10 years ago. Is there any pill out there that will help?
Avatar f tn A couple of weeks ago I decided to go off the pill (Yaz) because I was wondering if it was making me feel sick (I've been taking the pill for over a year now). I was just wondering a) if anybody else has felt sick on Yaz; b) if going off it helped; and c) how long it took for the pill to get out of your system? Thanks for any help. (I'm 18).
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, my name is Megan. I was on Yaz for about 2 years off and on. I started taking Yaz when I was about 17 years old to regulate my menstrual cycles. In the beginning when I was taking it, I had lost weight and noticed that i barely has problems with my cysts on my ovaries. It seemed to have shrunken them.I was doing fine for about a year, and stopped taking the pill.
1519601 tn?1298475950 =] and i refuse planting anything inside me or getting the depo... my grl said the depo causes serous weight gain an alot of issues...so she got off of it... idk i have an appointment on the 20th for a pap so ill ask my OBGYN..
Avatar n tn got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...
358971 tn?1330888975 I asked about metformin and she said that it was a dangerous drug and some actually gain weight on it (not what i need!). She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.
869854 tn?1239978206 I just started to take yasmin not yaz and hope this helps me. I have been off the pill for years. I had no luck with the copper iud for 4 years hormone free but the bleeding never go less and the duration never did either. The nuva ring made me depressed tried that for 4 mnths after the iud. I am 39 and my hormones are changing greatly my which they say can happen at this age. my normal periods all my life are changing to every 21 day last period came 109 days later. My GYNsuggeseted the pill.
Avatar n tn i was on the yaz and i didnt gain weight i actually lost weight!! but i had got prego on it! so now i with the mirena ! i beleive if you find yourself craving then just control it and eat healthy meals 3x a day and snack healthy 2x a day and excersise 3-4 time a week you should be fine!
Avatar f tn I felt pretty energetic throughout. Yaz also did not make me gain weight (as most other pills did), but it led to frequent nausea, headaches a few times/month, more crying while watching sappy TV shows during the 3rd and 4th weeks of a pack, decreased libido, night sweats--getting more frequent the longer I was on the pill, and I'd wake up 3-5 times/night to pee. And this was a good reaction to BCP for me! The migraine and headaches were what led me to go off of Yaz.
1416408 tn?1282230588 Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.
Avatar m tn I have tried several types of birth control to help with this and of course they do regulate the periods, but they are never less intense and the other side effects of the pill (nausea, weight gain, constant mood swings) are always so severe that I honestly would rather just have the irregular periods.
Avatar f tn As i always have spotting for 1 whole month. And i even gain weight, and double my size. After that injection,i took diane35 pills..But im encountering vomiting, headache and nausea.I had my period last Oct.26,Can someone give me an advise on what is the possible pills i should take, the one who have lesser side-effects?
Avatar f tn I am a 140 lb, 5'4", 23-year-old female. My weight fluctuates a lot (30 lbs), but I have been at the same weight for about 2 years now. I am not eating poorly I am not extremely stressed, I just started working out again in January (medium exercise for around an hour a day) and I have not been sexually active since January 2012. However, I have not had my period in over a year.
Avatar f tn I think your just spotting, instead of having a real period you will most likely have a spotting kind of period.or no period.at all thats exactly what the lolo does. Thats most of the cases while using the lolo. Thats why most women loove it. Wait until the last of the month to take a test and if it cmes out negative then you are not pregnant. Just keep taking the pill and if you arent planning on having a baby keep using it .
Avatar f tn I used to take YAZ a long time ago. Got pregnant and had a miscarriage. If I were you I would stop taking YAZ. It's been all over TV on how bad it is for you. Look it up. YAZ is the worst birth control out there and has done a lot of damage. I switched to the NUVA RIng. No weight gain, no chemicals, stays in for one month. I take mine out during intercourse, but it's still affective for three hours.
Avatar m tn Yes I have come off yaz completely (thankgod) I have been on the brand Loett for a little over a week now. By unprotected I mean no condom however I was still on the pill Loett. I'm just paranoid because I switched brands if it would still have me covered or if it takes a while to sink in?
Avatar n tn After a year when the weight gain (50 lbs) and a acne-like condition covered my face, I took myself off it.. Serious withdrawal followed on top of trying to heal from anal cancer treatment, so I am not a fan of this medication. I do know that it has helped others, so... Wellbutrin might be ok for you: it can cause anxiety and muscle tension, and is often prescribed with an anti-anxiety for this reason.
Avatar f tn s, that worked perfectly fine before, may be caused by a reaction with the Yaz. I went off Yaz and eventually, they put me on Wellbutrin and Buspar. Each week I was getting better and better, however, I was getting awful acne. I never had acne even as a teenager. So, I thought, I'll go back on a different bc pill because they help with acne. Big mistake. I should have gone to a dermatologist instead! Within a day I was experiencing the tingling and burning in my neck.

Avatar f tn I remember my switch to Lantus. They weight gain is normal because it is a long lasting insulin. Just remember that the more insulin you shoot, the more weight you gain. Try cutting back on your carbs and that will cut down on your Lantus and that will cut down on your weight. Remember that human insulin, like Lantus, is not like switching from tylenol to advil. There are more significant signs your body will give you.
