yaz

358971 tn?1330888975 I asked about metformin and she said that it was a dangerous drug and some actually gain weight on it (not what i need!). She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth. Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.
Avatar f tn Any birth control pill, well any birth control that has hormones in it can cause blood clots. But they are normally only risk for those who have a family history of clots, or who have suffered from clots before. I've never been on Yaz and the only birth control pills I have ever taken was/is Yasmin. No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder).
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and my doctor presribed me with Yaz birth control pills and it help regulate the period. But is itnormal that I bleed everytime im fingered. Is it normal with PCOS? There’s always blood when the fingers come off.
Avatar f tn I had issues when I was on Yaz for the first couple packs. After that I LOVED it. I lost 30 pounds taking Yaz, skin cleared up and feeling great. If I wasn't TTC, I would be back on it! (the 30 pound gain was a killer, thank you PCOS).
Avatar m tn Well I got on Yaz for a while. It was a Godsend!! I know exactly how she feels. I've been off of Yaz for 2 years now and the pain is starting to come back with my period getting longer again and longer time between them. I'm debating getting back on it. She can talk to her gyn about it. I also take perscription strength Ibuprofen during my cramping days. And during that time of month when I ovulate I have the same excrutiating pain too. I take the ibuprofen then too. it helps.
Avatar f tn In regards to why you were late- the surgery could have set your body off schedule. The PCOS can also affect your periods/cycles (longer cycles, for example). Without the YAZ to regulate you, you may not have regular periods because of the PCOS.
458967 tn?1268486055 I will be just getting of yaz and be starting clomid in 5 days. I have PCOS and was on yaz to have a period.I'm diabetic and In march i lost my baby in case u guys dont remember me. so that is pretty much my history sorry i have not been on in a while its summer and i'm not on the computer hardley at all, i'm usualy swimming, walkind dogs, garge saleing, and summer things .
Avatar m tn Ever since my last try with the pill a year and a half ago(it was called Sronyx and I was on it for 3 months), which made me gain ten pounds and gave the the worst mood swings and nausea of any pill (it was supposed to be the lowest dose of hormones), my periods have been even more irregular, sometimes with only two weeks between them, sometimes almost two months.
Avatar f tn I have been on yaz for 3 months now. I am tired all the time. I can't sleep at night but can't get out of the bed in the morning. I have been have cramps all over my body. My legs, side, face, and every where in my muscles. I went to the Dr for blood work. They said my thyroid is not working right so they did more blood work. I am tired of hurting all the time. My OBGY said its not yaz. But I am worried. I am 40 and I'm not use to feeling like this.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why you are taking it a week later, I always was told same day you start your period??? I have PCOS as well. I have been miserable on yaz so I stopped it. Good luck, hopefully it will help you.
287297 tn?1207305706 I also am currently on desogen birth control pills. It's normal for your doctor to prescribe contraceptives for a number of things, PCOS being one of them so don't worry!!
Avatar f tn When my primary doc did the blood work she did about 5 tubes of blood for test. And results came back as level 3 pcos...does anyone know what that means ? The endo. is only running 2 tst for something other than pcos and she wants to put me on Yaz which I'm kinda scared of.

Avatar m tn The first two weeks were very red blood, it stopped for a few days, then I would see brown blood on the toilet paper for a few days after that. It stopped again for a few days, and now I am seeing red blood again when I wipe myself. I have no pain. What could this be and should I be concerned?!
780153 tn?1287568947 hi ladies, i too have PCOS and i got pregnant 3 times but i lost all 3. my first pregnancy happened natrually but i lost the baby at 27 weeks, and with the 2nd and 3rd pregnancies i had to take fertility treatments to get pregnant, i m/c the 2nd and the 3rd was ectopic.
358971 tn?1330888975 I myself just went through the slou of blood work to test my hormones for PCOS. I have been dealing with ovarian problems for just over 2 years now and it was my naturopathic doctor that suggested i could quite possibly have the disease. I got my test results back and 2 of my levels were abnormal (however I am on the pill, and the pill can change the reading of the hormones).
Avatar n tn Cysts in the ovaries are sign of PCOS. There is no known cure for PCOS. I have PCOS too. Doctor will put you on BCP to regularize your periods if you are not ttc. Usually they put you on metformin that takes of the cysts to some extent. What treatment are you going through?
Avatar f tn Hi I have had PCOS for all of my adult life and I have always managed it with BCP's. I had a successful pregnancy (via chlomid) and for the year I was breastfeeding after I was regular for the 1st time in my life. After I stopped breastfeeding I went right back to being irregular. I had not had a period in 9 months and I new my ovaries were full of cyst I could feel the pain. I went to the Dr.
Avatar f tn Trying to talk hubby into vasectomy. We are done having babies! Not sure what I'll do if he doesn't budge. Essure, maybe?
Avatar f tn I was on Junel 1/20 for a couple of years, then went on Yaz for a month last April (I was living in Germany and the doctor ok'd it, even with my questions about health concerns). After going off Yaz, I have never had my period again and hadn't had it before that since February. I (stupidly) did not really think it was an issue until right around Christmas when my mother said I should get it checked out.
Avatar f tn I am sooo sorry to hear that you lost a fallopian tube! I haven't heard of that happening--would you tell me more? At least so I know what could happen? Seasonale is a birth control pill--like YAZ, where you don't get a period, it's just continuous estrogen & progesterone. I get severe migraines, and cramps, they think this could eliminate both. Plus, it lets the reproductive system "rest" by not producing eggs--which is a problem for me anyway, with PCOS.
519035 tn?1348275773 How many of you have been successful at this time for your blood work. What birth control pills if any are you guys taking???? I am on yaz. but so far not helped with pms. I started pms'ing about three days ago blaming it on synthroid lol! i have extreme hot flashes, depression, mood swings, I feel like my body is out of control, which we already know it is! Thanks!
