Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.

Avatar f tn Within a month, the breast cancer started in her skin around the site of the node. She now has a red rash (skin mets) in approx half of her chest wall and is getting Chemo (Xeloda) and Herceptin. My question is, the skin is beginning to "harden" around the node removal surgery site. What does this mean? Any other comments on Skin mets would be greatly appreciated.

484033 tn?1208516117 (It was originally combined with Xeloda, but I could not tolerate that drug so the Xeloda was discontinued) Prior to surgery I treated with 5FU and radiation. So glad to put that in the past! Just had a follow-up exam and CEA 125 is normal. No lasting problems except the neuropathy in both heels, which is annoying but not a real big deal. Hope your tx goes as well.
Avatar n tn I was treated with Adriamycin/CYTOXIN Along with 33 rounds of radiation. I was also on tamoxifen for 10 mos. and have since had a local reoccurrence in the lymph node in my neck. The lymph node has been removed and biopsied and came back the same as before. Weakly positive ER 20%.,Her2 neg. PR neg.. i'm concerned that the tamoxifin did not work. My oncologists is deciding between xeloda , a chemo pill or arimidex. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn i am 55 and have rectal cancer. Have had chemo and radiation. I have chosen not to go ahead with the operation of removing my rectum and having a permant bag....have been a smoker for 35 years and dont think the body would take this major surgery. The chemo and radiation has shrunk the tumor....has anyone pulled out of the operation, from what i read and see on utube its pretty damaging to all the body....is there a alternative way???
Avatar f tn My husband is 51 and his cancer is stage 2 he will need chemo and radiation for 8 weeks then surgery 8 more weeks later he has a 50% chance of having a permanent colostomy I'm pretty upset about it
Avatar n tn arimidex, aromosin, fasoldex . and several radiation treatments. I am undecided on doing any more chemo. My cancer , of course , is er/pr positive. Is there any advice on this chemo. or is there another hormonal I could try.
Avatar m tn After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else. If possible she should not stop chemo until her doctor is certain no trace of cancer remains in her lymph system. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Your question would probably be best answered by someone in the expert forum. I do know though, that my father was given Xeloda for his lung cancer. The doctor described it as a "smart drug" which attacked cancer cells.
Avatar f tn My brother is 28 years old. He is undergoing treatment of Rectal cancer Stage II. Chemotherapy has been completed. Now Radiation is started this ll remain continue for 6 week. Doctor said that after radiation he ll loss fertility. He ll not become father. We have plan of his marriage after treatment of cancer. Please need your advice. 1298675 tn?1286550183 I never made it to the operating room. The cancer spread to my internal organs and is now Stage IV with liver mets being the biggest problem, not to mention it is in a lot of places. The doc says the liver is inoperable because the one large tumor is dead center. The now 6.5 cm tumor in my breast stays until the liver cancer is gone. Chemo appears to be my only alternative, so off to weekly chemo dosages twice, which caused my hands and fingers to tingle so it was stopped.
Avatar n tn I recently asked a quesrion regarding a patient with a small rectal cancer that could have been treated with radiation, but the radiologist consulted with does not recommend radiation as the patient had a cobalt implant 40 years ago for cervical cancer & thinks she has had too much radiation. She is 79 years old & NEEDS TO KNOW if there is another way to treat it without surgery requiring a colostomy.
Avatar f tn If she is dealing with Rectal cancer, then she will need surgery and possible chemo and radiation. If she is dealing with Colon and Rectal cancer, then she will need all the above. Her treatment plan will be under the discretion of her physician, so it is really difficult to say exactly how he/she will approach this as physicians don't have the same exact approach in treating this.
Avatar m tn i have colon cancer and had radiation and chemo.
Avatar n tn But, it is possible for the rectal cancer to spread to the female organs. But, usually, you would see more widespread signs of metastasis, rather than just an ovarian cyst if the two were linked. The same virus that is implicated in causing most cervical cancer is also thought to cause most rectal cancer. So, keeping a close eye on the cervix and ovaries is important. You should also continue to get regular pap smears.
Avatar m tn I had surgery in 2005 for rectal cancer and have a colostmy bag. Now 3 years later everything had been clear but last week Dr. said disease had come back and probably had 2 years (outside) to live. How can it go from disease free to terminal in just a couple of months?? This discussion is related to Colon Cancer - Please Help!.
408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
Avatar f tn She had radiation and the rectal tumors are gone. It has metastasized to her lung and liver. She had surgery on her liver and they burned a few lesions off but they returned and I believe with a vengence. She has had many rounds of chemo and radiation and the doctors say there is no more treatment they can give her. In March 2009 they found a new tumor that had perforated the lining of her vagina. She has lost 70 pounds all together from the time she was diagnosed to now.
Avatar f tn According to her doctor, there was no correlation between the injury and the Breast Cancer. And, that she should have had the injury and the Cancer in the same spot was purely coincidental. His view was that traumatic injuries and the development of Cancer are unrelated.
Avatar f tn She has brest cancer since 8 years, is 74 years old and has a 4 centimeter tumor on her sternum (breats are clear), some on her axilery and maybe it has mestastasized in her lungs (we won't know until her next cat scan in 3 weeks. She was for 2 years on that red liquid chemo (forgot the name) but now the doctors switched her to Xeloda since 2 weeks. The side effects are terrible. Her feet are swollen, hurt terribly, nausea etc.
Avatar n tn diagnosed following ct scan for a lump between anus and scotum which tripled in size over the previous week. Has been in pain since the May 08 followup colonoscopy which led to bleeding for 2 days, and then a month of ++ bleeding in September. Severe pain - on Tramal twice per day plus paracetamol 4 x day.
Avatar n tn My wife also had radiation for rectal cancer about 10yrs ago and was radiated through both hips the rectum and the vagina. She now has pain in the lower region of her vagina and it comes and goes but lately has gotten worse. The pain varies from a very bruised feeling and at times with some pain radiating down the legs. At other times she has a sensation of feeling like she has fine cactus needles on the surface of the skin where her vaginal hair is.
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. IF IT HAS CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY CYCLES CAN SHE TAKE WITHOUT IT DOING MUCH HARM.
Avatar m tn My husband had begun developing peripheral neuropathy approx 4 yrs ago. His doctor simply stated that his circulation was good & did not diagnose the neuropathy or treat it. A different physician later did diagnose. He has had nerve conduction tests, anodyne therapy, was tried on neurontin, lyrica - both with no positve effect & some neg. side effects.
