1530342 tn?1405016490 It’s simply an uncontrolled body response. Sneezing with your eyes open feels impossible without using your fingers to pry them open. Which has certainly been done, by one of the guys on Mythbusters and countless others. “It is certainly possible to keep your eyes open if you try while you are sneezing … but it requires working against the reflex,” says co-author Vreeman, assistant professor of pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. “It’s a very strong response.
Avatar f tn I am 27 and have this problem too for years but it comes and goes and is really annoying and depressing for me. as I've known, this problem is most of the times psychological, as it's been for me, unless you feel that it happened IMMEDIATELY after a hit to your head. so after a hit or crash, if you sneezed and after a few days or weeks it stopped, it's still psychological and if you don't care or think about it, sneeze can return eventually.

Avatar f tn Are you sleepy, or can't keep your eyes open? You could have chronic dry-eye. I'm not a doctor, btw, but when I opened my account here, there were 38 questions for me!
Avatar n tn This machine dries up the eyes and nasal passages which causes irritation, burning and sneezing. You can try a cold water humidifier to start with. If you already have a humidifier and your mother still experiences these symptoms you may need a heated humidifier. In most cases this resolves nasal congestion and irritation if it is caused by CPAP. Also if your mother has a deviated nasal septum then also it can cause allergy like symptoms.

Avatar m tn Hi there & Welcome! Sneezing is one of the initial signs of acute withdrawal. (Yawning & watery eyes usually precede sneezing.) When you're on opiates they flood the body with histamines (that's why people scratch when they're high.) When they're withdrawn the body's natural histamine response is shut down & so you sneeze & tear a lot. It's completely normal to experience this in detox & the symptom diminishes over time.

Avatar m tn Hi there. I have been waiting to see a neurologist for a few months now and have had these symptoms for around a year. Progressively getting worse until now. There are many symptoms. I find it awkward when walking especially when it is cold. I cannot run. My legs simply do not have the coordination to run or jump. If it is cold my legs tremble, especially the left leg. I have no pain whatsoever anywhere. Sometimes I get dropfoot when I walk. I have to concentrate when I walk.

Avatar f tn There are too many causes to tell you what is causing your problem. Since you are young it is a concern; age drooping is the most common cause in 50 years old and older. Have your family MD refer you or go to www.geteyesmart.org and find an Eye MD there.

Avatar f tn Sleeping with eyes partially open isn't exactly rare. Sometimes people are born with the tendency, sometimes it's the result of some kind of injury or disease, and most of the time, the cause really isn't known. In fact, people who do it usually don't even realize it (after all, you're asleep, right?) until either they see a photo of themselves or their bed partner tells them about it. I didn't know I slept with my eyes open until my husband told me.
