Vomiting of puppies

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting of puppies

vomiting

Avatar n tn t agree with her, she could be infested with internal parasites, she could have coccidiosis, she could have Parvo, there is no way to tell over a message board so veterinary intervention is absolutely necessary. Puppies, as Karla said, can dehydrate VERY quickly, and with vomiting AND loose stools, the danger of dehydration is doubled, so there is no time to waste.

Avatar n tn She is moving slowly and sleeping a lot. She had diarrhea yesterday and a lot of vomiting up until late last night, but hasn't had either today. She hasn't eaten since early yesterday morning and she usually 'loves' to eat! She does not look well. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn my dog had puppies three weeks ago and now i have noticed that two of the puppies have large knots on the right side for their necks what is it and what can i do for them?
Avatar n tn It could be something bad and I wouldn't risk it! Is there any vomiting? You need to head to an Emergency Vet ASAP! Intestinal blockage is the first thing that comes to mind for a puppy. (They will get into and eat anything!) Next would be "Bloat", but I do not know if it happens in puppies, I'd have to look that up....Good Luck and let us know......
Avatar n tn t think that was it since enough time has elapsed for one puppy to die from it, the others (or at least SOME of the others) would surely be showing signs of illness by now since parvo usually goes through puppies like wildfire. If one gets it, they almost always all get it, so since the others seem OK, that's the one thing that is pushing me away from saying that it could have been parvo.
3186206 tn?1344746964 t say if this guy has had all his Puppy Vaccines.....If not, then this vomiting may be the beginning of a few diseases that can be fatal......Parvo is my greatest concern & unfortunately, it is quite common..... Dehydration alone, from the vomiting can be very dangerous for a puppy......You must keep him hydrated until you can see his Vet......Children's Pedialyte from the grocery store is what you need.......
Avatar f tn Depending on your puppies vaccine status viral diseases such as Parvovirus may be the issue. Vomiting leads to dehydration which can be fatal in dogs and puppies if not treated.
1004300 tn?1251255067 Congratulations on your upcoming excitement! Taking care of puppies can be a challenge, but definitely worth the effort. First, has her pregnancy been verified at the veterinarian by ultrasound or xray? It could be that she only has one pup and doesn't seem very large to you. Many dogs become very restless right before delivery and their temperature will generally drop to about 99 degrees Fahrenheit from their normal (100 to 102). This usually occurs about 24 hours prior to labor.
Avatar m tn I have recently been given a female pit bull puppy about 8 weeks old, and she started having an outbreak of blisters a couple days ago and she's now vomiting and won't eat. I am extremely concerned and need information as soon as possible. Thank you!
473883 tn?1322853038 I have a pregnant female who is 53days pregnant and i was wanting to know if this is a sign that she will be going into labor soon and I have not noticed her eatting at all yet today and we've been up for a while. This is my first time having puppies so i needing lots of help. Thank you for all the help.
Avatar n tn One of the biggest dangers of parvo is dehydration because of the vomiting and diarrhea. If the puppy becomes dehydrated, the body's electrolytes are thrown off and all kinds of problems, not the least of which is a disruption of the heart rhythm, can occur. If the puppy is at home, give him Pedialyte. If he will not drink it himself, force it in with an eyedropper or a syringe.
1708784 tn?1356222414 i woke up yesterday morning to find that in the middle of the night my dog had given birth to 6 adorable puppies, she was great with them yesterday but this morning i woke up to cries from the puppies and mammy was also crying when i went in to check on them i found that mammy was huddled over one side of the bed shaking and looking pretty scared and the puppies were over the other side of the bed crying and all the bedding had been taken out from underneath the puppies and they were lying on t
Avatar m tn Parvo is akways a concern with puppies. This could be from stress, food, etc. try feeding cooked chicken and rice in smaller portions a few times a day. However, if the diarrhea gets worse, there is vomiting and the pup seems worse, do get it to your Vet right away and they can test for Parvo.

Avatar n tn If your pup is vomiting and not eating or drinking then this is an emergency. Puppies can die very easily from dehydration. You need to seek vet treatment immediately.
Avatar m tn You need to get your puppy to the vet tonight. Don't wait until tomorrow, go to an emergency vet now! It could be stuck anywhere along the alimentary canal, but if he is vomiting and losing weight, there's a good chance the bone is lodged at the opening of the stomach, preventing him from eating anything and having it move through the stomach. He WILL die if you don't get him to the vet because he'll starve to death.
Avatar m tn I doubt its rabies. For one thing the puppy would have had to been bitten by another animal to even contract rabies. Sounds more like the pup had parvo, vomiting and diarrhea aren't rabies symptoms. Parvo is a common killer of puppies who aren't vaccinated and its not contagious to humans.

Avatar f tn Usually pancreatitis can only be diagnosed with a combination of clinical signs such as vomiting, abdominal pain and fever along with a positive results for a specific blood test (probably the one your veterinarian had sent in), and confirmation with an abdominal ultrasound. In the meantime, you and your veterinarian should keep an open mind, and always ask the question, "What else can it be?", especially if your dog is not getting better.
1022125 tn?1251633761 Hi there...at this innocent age, these symptoms could mean many different things, including intestinal parastite infestations or even parvo virus. When was the last time Waggzy saw his veterinarian and what vaccines has he had so far? You need to contact your veterinarian soon...puppies this young don't have a lot of reserve to fight off infections and can go downhill very quickly. He is a cute one though!!!
Avatar m tn Nikki1580. It is completely understandable. The worry about the vet was we did not have one for them yet and the vets want to start with an arm and a leg before taking on the pet. They were not given the right dewormer and the vet gave them a higher dose for the weekend and to have them check back in a few days. I explained that the breeder told us what food to use and the vet did not want us to follow the diet that the breeder was using.
