Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting cat flu

vomiting

Avatar f tn I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile.
Avatar f tn My cat was coughing and breathing heavy. I took her to the Vet and after they took X-Ray I was told she has to be under medication for two weeks. I started her on Clavamox 15 ML but after couple of days I noticed she vomits after each intake. I was told by the Vet to give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait 20 minutes before giving her Clavamox. She is not eating food and I am giving her Garbor baby food (chicken and rice) along with Clavamox. I noticed she still vomits after each intake.
Avatar m tn my male cat was neutered 4 days ago, every time he eats he vomits ,even water.
Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
592969 tn?1248325405 Oh my gosh!! My pickiest cat, Butters, refuses any salmon flavored food. He won't even eat fresh salmon. Best thoughts for your cat. I've had my other cat, Bob, have an episode of vomiting but it cleared right up w/in a few hours and we surmised he ate a bug or something like that.
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar f tn I could be wrong, but here goes. I think your cat got a bacterial infection (causing flu like symptoms)which was prolonged for a long period of time; probably for lack of antibiotics. It could have also been a flu caused by a virus but depending on the cat’s immune system the virus will run its course or get worse. The lack of appetite is caused by the infection which is already gone but he is probably too nauseous to want any food at this point. Something triggered his lack of appetite.
Avatar f tn t know how it would work on the flu, but I wonder if the nausea and vomiting are from the flu or from the meds. Getting Zofram or some other med would be worth a try, I think. I do not understand why these doctors are unreachable and why they have no substitute on call if they are off call. This practice (of not being able to reachthe treating MD when problems arise) seems to me to be a gap in ensuring that we are able to take out meds as presribed and treat the side effects as they arise.
10286987 tn?1410261849 It sounds like bacterial or viral food poisoning. Did you eat out before this happened? Or, did you have a pot luck or have food that was left out? Can you drink fluids? You can get very dehydrated with that much diarrhea and the vomiting. If you can take sips of water try to keep it down. If you are having frequent diarrhea and a fever you should see you doctor. They may need to get a stool culture on you to see if it is bacterial.
Avatar f tn my cat is an indoor outdoor cat she was fine this morning and was mainly indoors all day today. this afternoon she started to vomit(looked like her dry food) shaking and walking off balance almost as if she was drunk. she did her flea drops but on her yesterday. what should i do?
Avatar f tn i would go to the ER just if anything to get a second opinion.... it is possible its the flu as this years flu causes bad cramping and stomach pains and is pretty rough on a person... but saying that it could be mistaken for the flu just for this reason... ya can never be too safe...
Avatar f tn For the past week I've been having vomiting spells after I've ate. It's like my body's saying it doesn't belong here, throw it up. It has happened to me 3 times, with different food. The first time I smelled some soap and vomited. About 5 days later I eating a big mac, and when I was about to finish it, I had to fight not to vomit, seeing how I was driving. Then today it happened too, when I was putting my clothes n the washer.
Avatar m tn They have their Masters in psychology So this is how it works with a cat. You have to wait for the behavior to happen and then encourage it if you want the cat to continue or IGNORE it if you want the cat to stop that behavior. An example--Cat wants in the bedroom at night so he tries some things to get your Reaction.
6726276 tn?1421126668 t worry too much about the vomiting, unless your cat is also showing other symptoms-lethargic, no appetite, not playing, or fever. Just keep your eye on her. Cats have very sensitive stomachs-they are barfers. Lol. Does your cat excessively wash herself? If so, then it could still be a hairball issue. I would giver her some hairball remedy once a day for a few days, just to be on the safe side. Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn If the nausea and vomiting continue and you can't hold anything down than I would go to the er. You don't want to become dehydrated. They can give you iv fluids and medicine to stop the vomiting.
Avatar f tn Im 25 wks pregnant and ive been puking all day my body hurt i think im getting the flu should i go to the ER i cant call my doc office cuz its a sat
Avatar f tn I know its supposed to help the baby come flu season but im so regretting it right now! Ive been extremely sick for the last 3 days- throwing up, diarrhea, whole body aches, and extreme tiredness...on top of already not feeling good. Im so over it. Im trying to remember the positive but right now im having a hard time.
Avatar n tn Anyway my point is that my sister that passed only had stomach/ flu like symptoms. Stomach pain, diahreah ,then constipation so bad she was vomiting everything. She was in and out of the hospital on IV fluids for a few months until my mother took her to different hospital and demanded they find the cause. Each time they would send her home cause her symptoms would get better because the IV fluid and not eating. This started around september 2008, she had CAT scans/ MRI's / blood work...
Avatar f tn We adopted a cat from the Humane Society about a month and a half ago. He is approx. one year old. Since we brought him home we have been battling with diarriah and vomiting. The vet put him on antiobiotics and recommended chicken and rice for diet. The cat has an appetite and was eating for about 4 days without any vomiting, and finally had a solid stool. Then all of a sudden he vomited over the weekend again and then on Monday he vomited in 4 different spots of the house.
Avatar f tn ve hit my head and bruised it or wore in a pony tail too tight, it feels the same everyday. With the vomiting twice - once on Monday and once on Friday And dizziness I guess it could be the Flu. Anyone have any suggestions for me??? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Out of curiosity why have you allowed this vomiting to go on for 6-9 months. If this were my cat, and my cat was vomiting after each meal, you better believe I would have visited my vet a long time ago. Purina at best is not a good quality food. She probably has lost weight but you just don't see it. I would suggest making an appointment and getting her to your vet as soon as possible. Vomiting after a meal for such a long time is not good.
Avatar n tn I am 46 year old female. In January I had the flu (vomiting, diarhrea, chills, low grade fever). Then in February, same symptons. I went to my family practioner who thought I had diverticulosis. He ordered cat scan. It showed I have thickening of colon and mentioned jejuneum. He sent me to gastroenterologist who thought I had Crohn's disease, but performed upper endoscopy and colonsocopy the same day. He no longer thinks I have Crohn's disease.
