My cat throws up occasionally too. When I brought this up with the vet about 2 years ago she said my cat was probably eating too fast. Said she could run a lot of tests and probably not have a definite answer as to why she was doing it. So I slowed her down and it seemed to help but she would still occasionally do it. Every 2 - 3 weeks or so. However now she is doing it but not throwing any food up , just liquid.
Vomiting is also a sign of IBD, but if there is no weight loss I’d say he has something else and, my guess would be BEHAVIORAL problems. Something triggered this aggressiveness in him. I once had a cat like yours. My only solution was to re-home him. I did not take him to a shelter but looked for someone who had no pets and no kids (my little cousin was making the cat extremely nervous). Some kitties really don’t do well with kids. The majority get used to their new environment.
Hello my 12 yo cat has lost half her weight vomiting with diarrhea containing partially formed stool. Her stomach makes a symphony of gurgling noises. Vet did blood tests and physical exam and everything was normal. He couldn't get fecal sample treated her for worms with no improvement.
She eats constantly, drinks a large amount of water but is losing weight and becoming weak. We already spent $200 trying to diagnose her ailment and I'm at a loss as to solutions.
When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile. They told me that she was probable allergic to the food so I changed that over the past 7 to 8 months I have tried every dry food there is. Did not work.
Just had an inquiry about cat weight loss and if it associated with diseases? I have concerns and have heard of feline Aids. What would be the normal costs or causes or fees for a test in my region? she is fixed sinc eshe was 6mos old. Will need some symptoms or further advice. she's a petite female. Not sure if it's her breeed mixture or from being an indoor/outdoor cat?

When he would vomit his body would do this strange stuff. Anyhow, I started down the stairs to try and help him and ease him while he was doing his vomiting episode as I have done many times in the past. As I approached the stairs I saw red and wondered what he was eating that was red because we knew "that food" didn't work for him and we stopped buying it. It wasn't food ...it was blood everywhere.
I'm 9 weeks along too and I've lost 4 lbs. I asked my doctor and he said it's normal because of the nausea. He said you'll start to gain weight again around the 2nd trimester.
the dry food absorbs water and swells, and then they have to throw it back up. If the vomit looks like a semi-solid tube of partially digested cat food, that's probably what it is. You might want to check how much you're feeding him.
In addition, talk to the vet about possible IBD problems. IBD can cause vomiting if the crisis is in his stomach. IBD can basically be called *food allergy*. If he is allergic to what he is eating, your cat should definitely be on a hypoallergenic diet.
I do not believe that most people have nausea and vomiting on treatment. In fact the Pegasys package insert says only 5% of people have nausea and vomiting. I think perhaps that more people lack appetite on treatment. However, some people have no GI adverse reactions but their fatigue makes them very much less active. And if you hang out on the couch or in bed, with the quart of ice cream and no exercise, you just might gain weight.
s over 7 yrs old-diabetes, kidney disease, and thyroid disease. All 3 of these conditions will also cause weight loss. Kidney disease will cause vomiting. Both thyroid(over active thyroid) and diabetes will cause an excessive appetite.
If you decide to take your cat to the vet, please request blood work and a urinalysis to check for these conditions. If you decide to check for diabetes, you should with-hold food from her for 10 hrs before you take her.

Is it normal to lose weight? I've had nausea and vomiting for the past three weeks, it's not an everyday thing though. I'll throw up one day and won't throw up till like 3 days later. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and my weight when I found out I was pregnant was 127. Now I weigh 122.
