Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting cat stomach

vomiting

Avatar f tn I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile.
Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
Avatar f tn Have you noticed what he's doing before he vomits? My previous cat had a big problem with eating too fast as well as things she shouldn't be eating. Try to encourage your cat to drink a little more. He may just have an upset stomach.
1296191 tn?1280699873 s going on with your kitty, is the vomiting something new or has he always done it? Has he always been a thin cat in spite of eating enough?
Avatar n tn If you really suspect stomach cancer, (and it is a cause of chronic vomiting), than you can ask to have a abdominal ultrasound or barium study performed on your cat. These should be able to give you a definitive diagnosis. Diagnosis of brain cancer would require a CT Scan or MRI of the brain.
Avatar n tn so is not limiting her consumption. Could it be a stomach bug? She is an indoor cat, declawed, and around 8-9lbs when healthy. She has gone to the bathroom twice in the last 24 hours. Are IVs needed at this time?
Avatar f tn Okay , a couple of questions. How old is your cat ? Aside from the vomiting does your cat have other health issues? What type of cat food were you feeding your cat ? Is the food bought from a grocery store for example or bought from your vet ? Does she throw up her food every day? You mentioned you were considering force feeding your kitty. Please don't do that. I think that would make the situation worse.
592969 tn?1248325405 Took him to our vet on Saturday (yesterday) who took xrays showing air in stomach with inflamation. She gave him a shot to help stop the vomiting and antibiotics and so far everthing he has been given comes back up. He is going back to the vet tomorrow morning and I am printing up your post and taking it with me.
13912344 tn?1432039046 m looking for clue as to what might be wrong with my cat. He is a 10 year old short hair cat that stays in doors 95% of the time, and weighs 16lbs (yes, he's on a diet consisting of strictly canned food). Three days ago I took him outside on his leash and he tried to eat grass when I wasn't looking. When he got inside he didn't want dinner which is unheard of. Later he vomited a small amount of grass, which is normal for him if he ingests it.
Avatar f tn 5 kgs cat to do a 5ml paste (you mix the powder with water and store for 5 days in the fridge giving only 5ml to the cat 1 hour before meals and never together with other medication as it may interfere) . My cat is 5.2Kgs so around 5ml should be fine. What do you think? Thank you very much for your help.
Avatar f tn My cat was coughing and breathing heavy. I took her to the Vet and after they took X-Ray I was told she has to be under medication for two weeks. I started her on Clavamox 15 ML but after couple of days I noticed she vomits after each intake. I was told by the Vet to give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait 20 minutes before giving her Clavamox. She is not eating food and I am giving her Garbor baby food (chicken and rice) along with Clavamox. I noticed she still vomits after each intake.
Avatar n tn He is an entirely indoor cat. Suddenly yesterday when I was home on a work break I noticed a couple spots on the floor. At first I thought for some reason he didn't use his box and the thought puzzled me, but I smelled it and it had only a faint scent of cat food. So I thought maybe it was a hairball and would clear out, his appetite hadn't changed. But he vomited 3-5 more times that day and only pooped one more time. He ate little food.
Avatar n tn Out of curiosity why have you allowed this vomiting to go on for 6-9 months. If this were my cat, and my cat was vomiting after each meal, you better believe I would have visited my vet a long time ago. Purina at best is not a good quality food. She probably has lost weight but you just don't see it. I would suggest making an appointment and getting her to your vet as soon as possible. Vomiting after a meal for such a long time is not good.
Avatar m tn my male cat was neutered 4 days ago, every time he eats he vomits ,even water.
Avatar m tn Sometimes she can keep down a little bit of yogurt or a grilled cheese sandwich but that is about it. She has had 3 EGDs, CAT scans, ultrasound, and a ton of lab work. The only thing she has not done is a stomach emptying test but that is only because she can't keep the test food down for long enough to complete the test. There has to be some way to find out what is wrong. This has been going on for over two years and is getting worse.
Avatar f tn My cat (1.5 year-old Bengal) has been vomiting (once a day) sine 3 days ago, and she makes this painful noise before she vomits, and it sounds like she in a lot of pain. I took her to the vet on Thursday and the vet ran blood test and found really nothing (except that he red cell count was higher than normal). He said she's probably having a stomach problem and gave her medication for it.
562511 tn?1285904160 Can you help me to understand what happened to my grown daughter's cat? She delivered a healthy litter on Easter. (7 weeks ago) She was a little thin and had an insatiable appetite. She'd been nursing 5 robust kittens - almost weaned now. Yesterday the queen had some vomiting and diarrhea. She was taken to the vet this morning and was told she had tissue growing around her stomach, approximately 6 times more than normal.
Avatar n tn I am so very sorry about your daughter's kitty. I too have an old kitty named Hissie, that is 15 yrs. old. Hissie took very ill. Throwing up, constipated, stopped eating and just no energy at all. It all started maybe 6 wks. or so ago. It took 3 trips to the vet, 6 day stay all together at the vet's and intestional surgery. Vet ran all tests on Hissie. Everything kept coming back good. Then the vet did a barium xray and found a large dried up hairball in Hissie's intestines.
Avatar n tn Anyway my point is that my sister that passed only had stomach/ flu like symptoms. Stomach pain, diahreah ,then constipation so bad she was vomiting everything. She was in and out of the hospital on IV fluids for a few months until my mother took her to different hospital and demanded they find the cause. Each time they would send her home cause her symptoms would get better because the IV fluid and not eating. This started around september 2008, she had CAT scans/ MRI's / blood work...
Avatar m tn Okay, I actually called the vet and the nurse suggested, before panicing, as she had no other symptoms, to put her on a 24 hour fast. Which is mostly over at this point. She's not puking now, but well, when I'm sick I stop puking when I'm out of food to puke too.
Avatar n tn Still having bowel movements. Vomiting/heaving started to hurt but no stomach pain at this time. We were referred to a pediatric gastro. 3 weeks have passed by now and she is having pain in the center just under rib cage. Vomiting is more violent still no nausea. Cat scan on abdomen area, with barium, x-rays, head CT, chest x-ray, digestion study (25% first hour, but caught up in the second hour), endoscope (results were erosions said to not be the worse he has ever seen).
Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar f tn My cat fena was put down a few months ago ans I still don't know what was wrong with her. She was losing weight, had diarrehea and was vomiting. Then she became pregantn and had kittens. The kittens ended up having it and then toher cats around our house got it. So whatever she had was contagious. The vet said it could be internal worms and i got her medicine for that and it didnt help. What was the problem.
Avatar n tn My cat recently started throwing up yellow bile. He sleeps when not throwing up and is lethargic. He wouldn't eat or drink anything the first day, then yesterday he nibbled off and on and drank some water, now he's back to not eating or drinking today. He's usually incredibly affectionate and active but I can't even get him to purr. What could be the cause(s) of this? I'm afraid he might have been poisoned.
