Violent sneeze chest pain

Common Questions and Answers about Violent sneeze chest pain

Avatar n tn I am pretty sure that it is just the muscles, sometimes it only hurts when I sneeze and other times the pain lingers. Usually the pain only lasts a couple of hours or or I don't really notice it until I sneeze again but sometimes I notice that my chest is sore and I haven't sneezed in like a day...does anyone know what this is, if anything at all? and if I have to just put up with having pain everytime I sneeze?
Avatar n tn It feels like someone has shoved a feather up the right nostril, quill first. The sensation borders on pain, causing me to sneeze constantly, my nose to run, and my eye to swell and run tears, all only on the right. There is a spot on that side, right where the cartilage starts, that is the focal point of the discomfort, feels like a nerve gone crazy.
Avatar n tn But my symptoms don't seem to match all of voice problems or 'breathing' problems. I just get these violent coughing attacks that literally feel and behave as if I inhaled a bread crumb, and my body suddenly and violently is trying to cough it up. And just like when we are choking, I have a hard time catching my breath during these violent choking fits. By the time I'm done 4-8 minutes later, I'm shaking, tears streaming down my face, and I've probably wet myself. Its horrible!
1554262 tn?1374243601 I am so sorry to hear about your attacks of sudden severe chest pain. The obvious first thought is cardiac. The pain doesn't have to be exactly over your heart or on the left side.....however drinking cold water should not relieve cardiac symptoms. If anything it should make it worse. But I am far from an expert. So I cannot say for certain that it is not cardiac. It's possible it is a gastrointestinal problem.

Your nose feels twitchy, your eyes snap shut and a-a-a-a-c-hooo -- a sneeze rockets out at 75 to 100 miles per hour. And with a long, miserable allergy season ahead, that's going to be happening a lot. We all know how a sneeze happens. What we don’t know is why our eyes automatically close when we do it.
Avatar n tn We have put our chest clicking pain down to anxiety, however this is not medically proven its just a personal diagnostic.
Avatar f tn I always have awful pain in my back when coughing or sneezing. It drives me nuts! That's why I do everything in my power to stay clear of colds, etc. With me, it has to do with a herniated lumbar disk. Do you have something like that? If not, I wonder if there's something going on in your lungs. I know sometimes the pain in the lungs can feel like its coming from the back. Maybe you should call your Dr and at least tell him the symptoms. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn All of this is happening on my left side. I have even went to the ER because I developed a pain in my upper chest which started in my back. They diagnosed me with having Chondritis which is a fancy way of saying I have inflammation or pain in my cartilage and/or ribs. I could not lay down I was in such pain. To take a deep breath was painful, too. I acutally thought I was having a heart attack, but my heart was fine.
Avatar n tn I can deal with that, but the last two days whenever I sneeze it is very violent and it is immediately followed by a very sharp pain in my chest that has me grounded and can't move. The pain lingers and spreads to my neck, back and down my spine. Sometimes the pain actually travels down my shoulders/arms and the whole arm feels like its deeply bruised with a constant throb of pain and then sort of numb next several minutes.
682891 tn?1226696230 Interesting, I had decided to look this up, as I like the rest of you have this same thing, only way I can explain it's like someone trying to yank your soul from your body when you sneeze it causing so much intense pain after a sneeze all throughout my body, arms, chest, hands, legs etc.
Avatar n tn I have an unbelieveable amount of pain in my neck, chest and shoulders if I walk to far or bend over a lot. It is like a combination of a spasm and something heavy crushing the bones of my upper back and chest. When it happens I cannot lay down or the pain increases, the only position that helps is straight up in a chair with my neck supported.
Avatar n tn It was occasional problems such as mild sinus pain/pressure and headache with mild eye strain. Each year it has gotten worse. Over the course of the past 5 years I have seen multiple doctors across different specialites: Ears, Nose & Throat, Neurologist, Allergist, and my Intern. I have had MRI's and CT scans. This year has been the worst so far. I have already gotten 2 sinus infections.
1853950 tn?1319678110 Hi, with violent sneezing, the lump could be a haematoma. And this will resolve on its own. If with movement you are getting pain it is likely to be an inflammation of the skin, subcutaneous tissue or the bone. This can happen with injury, repetitive activity or an infection of the skin. Sometimes it can be costochondritis, inflammation of the sternal rib junction. If the pain persists consult your doctor. In the meantime you can take OTC Ibuprofen pain medication.
211940 tn?1267884866 Hi, has shoulder bursitis been ruled out? I have copied and pasted some information on this below. If it is shoulder related (and you have "transferred" pain), the fact you put "pressure" on it at night from lying down could explain why your pain increases at night. "The Causes of Shoulder Pain Defined Bursitis is inflammation of a bursa. A bursa is a tiny fluid-filled sac that functions as a gliding surface to reduce friction between tissues of the body.
Avatar n tn The coughing is really very violent and i have permanently sore ribs. I have also got chronic pain in my lower back (a new development today after a coughing fit) I have an inhaler which just aggrevates the problem. As a child I had the same thing and was told i had post-nasal drip, and hd my adenoids removed which seemed to solve it. I'm not sure i actually am asthmatic as i never had breathing problems before. Is there a chance my post nasal drip came back?

Avatar f tn I've been searching the internet and a few other people have experienced this but with no answer. Some commented on chest pain or back pain, neither of which I have. I'm young and relatively healthy.. 21 years old but need to lose some weight. My blood pressure is fine. I don't know why this keeps happening. It's really weird so if you have any idea what's causing it, please let me know.
Avatar f tn Hello, Your symptoms are very similar to mine. I am a healthy, fitness addict, 40-yr old. 4 Weeks ago felt shortness of breath during my workouts, "broken" ribs pain, and violent coughing when working out. Otherwise, felt fine. No fatigue, no other real major symptoms. Doc listened to lungs and visual inspection of throat, nothing. Went and got x-rays and discovered 2/3 of left lung with pneumonia. Wasn't sure whether it was walking version, but was prescribed 875mg/125mg Amoxicillin.

748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn I'm 26. Very active, used to be a body builder. Suffered a bulging disc at L4-L5 when I was 25 and deadlifting at the gym. Hurt BADDD! Avatar n tn Also have upper intercostal muscle aches that I originally tied to sleeping on my side. I have neck and back pain and am soon to start seeing a chiropractor when I get a chance. I'm worried though because I have so much trouble breathing when I get these symptoms and also stress seems to be a trigger. Any help would be a blessing.
Avatar n tn The violent sneezing is only occasional but my chest is still really sore and every sneeze is extremely painful. I called my personal physican yesterday and told him everything including the full litany of my withdrawal symptoms. He acknowledged he had become very concerned about my excessive consumption and that is why he refused to prescribe more. Furthermore, he let me know he was very pleased that I was aware of the problem and was going to get clean.
