Avatar n tn I started taking venlafaxine for the sudden onslaught of menopausal symptoms caused by my hysterectomy. The hot flashes were constant and unbearable. It worked wonders! I never had and symptoms of depression before, during or after using the venlafaxine. However, the one withdrawal symptom I am experiencing is the 'buzzing' in my head - or 'brain shift' as I call it.
Avatar n tn I was on 150mg Venlafaxine for 5 years and after a withdrawal lasting 10 months have finally stopped. No withdrawal symptoms at all. Once before I stopped cold turkey and the brain zaps and other withdrawals lasted 2 weeks. If you look up 'How Long Does Effexor Withdrawal Last', you will find over 930 replies to that question. Did you lower your dose slowly? I went from 150mg to 10mg over those 10 months so I would not get any withdrawal symptoms.

Avatar f tn Tell your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms while you are decreasing your dose of venlafaxine or soon after you stop taking venlafaxine. Cheers!
Avatar m tn unfortunately antidepressants can take a couple weeks to kick in. For me they started working quickly on some of my worst symptoms and other symptoms improved in time. Try to be patient and be positive that they will help you with each passing day. Try to keep yourself and your mind occupied and going about your normal daily activities and a little at a time you will find yourself getting back to normal. Take care.
233002 tn?1316027966 s response to treatment. A med that works for one person may not work for another. It is a trial and error process unfortunately. There is no "magic bullet" when it comes to anti-depressants. Cheers!
Avatar f tn Hi all, I woke up yesterday morning with numbness all over left side of face and a slight droop. Saw neurologist today who said there was a small palsy there probably brought in by fatigue. He said steriods wouldn't be useful and prescribed me Venlafaxine for the fatigue. Upon reading dosage, instructions etc it looks like it is precribed for anxiety and deepression. Has anyone else been prescribed this for any other reason? I am not depressed or anxious but very fatigued...... Sharon.
Avatar f tn Within one month I went to my heart doctor begging for Nortriptyline (something I used previously for Fibromyalgia) they prescribed it and it helped 50% but still my anxiety was bad, and other symptoms were present. My psychologist allowed me to go back on Effexor (Venlafaxine HCL) and I was excited. Then slowly I started getting severe anxiety and tension headaches. These last few months I have done countless things thinking this or that would fix it and do the trick.
Avatar n tn Let us know how you get on. Hope it works with no withdrawal symptoms. I do know that the very slow taper worked for me.
1270834 tn?1270769758 I've been on venlafaxine for over a year now and have had diarrhea for about 9 days. I noticed the tiny white balls this morning and was certain I had a parasite. Thankfully I came across this post. Side note; I too drink a lot of sports drinks. Peculiar. I think I'll just have some dry toast and imodium and hope for the best.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking Venlafaxine almost 1 year ago. My Pharmacist helped me with the "weaning" process, so things were okay for a while. Now here I am, a year later, and I actually feel WORSE than I did back then. The clinic I go to has rotating doctors (I do not have insurance regardless of "the affordable care act"), so it is difficult to relate to a physician every 3-4 months.
Avatar n tn hia i am on venlafaxine, i been on it for a while, it normaly helps me, but 4 the last fewweeks i been feeling really good, but now i feel ill all the time and suicidal , and also my nan has got bipolar, i was wondering if it runs in the family?
Avatar f tn Venlafaxine (Efexor) is used to treat anxiety - I have been on this medicine for 8 years and it works for me. Do remember though that it can take up to 4 weeks before you notice a positive change when starting up on Venlafaxine..
Avatar f tn I have uncomfortable sensations in the left of my face a pulling, tugging, discomfort, sometimes off numbness which comes and goes, left arm and hand where ulnar nerve is in wrist, left of back and shoulder, sometimes down left leg. I started taking venlafaxine for the pain and it does help. I recently had a painless medical test for which I had to avoid meds for a while (then I forgot to take them later).
Avatar n tn i just started taking Venlafaxine ER 37.
Avatar n tn Hi, please narrate your exact symptoms along with diagnosis, although drugs effective for neuropathic pain are carbamazepine, gabapentin, venlafaxine, amitryptline, tramadol, pregabaline etc. For more information visit http://www.patient.co.
Avatar n tn There are no significant gastrointestinal symptoms associated with venlafaxine and bromazepam. however if you are experiencing some, try some natural methods to relieve intestinal gas. increase your motility and engage in some regular form of exercise. Eat low spice, low fat and high in complex carbohydrate foods. Try taking natural herbs like mint leaves. I would not recommend activated charcoal, though it is documented due its unknown interaction with the drugs that you are taking.
Avatar n tn Sudden withdrawal from venlafaxine can lead to the withdrawal symptoms you describe. It should not be discontinued suddenly, instead he should go down to 37.5mg for a time before coming off it. Or, his doctor might consider changing him to a different anti-depressant without as many withdrawal symptoms,(Prozac, citalopram ?) then coming off that. Venlafaxine (Exeffor) is usually prescribed for major depression, in emergencies, or when other anti-depressants have been ineffective.
476246 tn?1418870914 These women will begin to experience menopausal symptoms 6-12 weeks after therapy. Amenorrhea may be permanent in women who are near the age of natural menopause, with those under age 35 almost always recovering ovarian function. The chemotherapy-induced premature menopause in younger women may be short-term but could last for months or years. Menopause may place women at an increased risk for both osteoporotic fractures and cardiovascular disease.
Avatar f tn I am 73 years old and have been on anti depressants for 20+ years, and Venlafaxine twice. Once for 5 years, but I was silly and stopped it cold turkey. I was fine after 2 weeks, but depression came back after 1 year. So I went back on it again for 4 years, and as I say, have just withdrawn from it. This time, because I did it really, really slowly, I have been fine. I think your problem is you withdrew too fast.
