I have the same problem. CHRONIC PAIN & ANXIETY. My Pain Dr has me taking Oxycontin & Percocet, while my Family Practitioner has me taking Lorazepam, Bupropion, and Venlafaxine. I have been taking this combination for several years now with good results except for occasional bouts of short term bouts (2 or 3 days) of depression and occasional panic attacks.

Currently came off sertraline after five weeks on it it 2 weeks it took the anxiety edge off things then Bang 3 weeks of hell started venlafaxine 37.5mg Tuesday just gone and upped to 75mg Friday anxiety is sky high this weekend and had loads of crying out burst my anxiety is awful in the mornings after taking a zopiclone for sleep I was just wondering if anyone has had anything like benzodiazepines to help with there venlafaxine start up to get you through the first rough couple of weeks?

Can an STI be asymptomatic for 5 months then present as a frequent need to urinate then subsequent pain in my testicle? There is no urethra discharge, no pain when urinating, just the need to urinate and testicular pain. It doesn't make sense that I had a possible prostate problem and constant need to urinate followed by testicular pain and then a negative UTI test, it only makes me think that an STI is responsible?

Hi all, I woke up yesterday morning with numbness all over left side of face and a slight droop. Saw neurologist today who said there was a small palsy there probably brought in by fatigue. He said steriods wouldn't be useful and prescribed me Venlafaxine for the fatigue. Upon reading dosage, instructions etc it looks like it is precribed for anxiety and deepression. Has anyone else been prescribed this for any other reason? I am not depressed or anxious but very fatigued...... Sharon.

ve been on the escitalopram now for 5 weeks and having second thoughts about this medication thinking that i should have asked for perhaps wellbutrin. I'm not on the extended release version of venlafaxine as wonder if this would help. I'm not involved with specialist psychiatric services per se at this time owing to myself actually working in this field. I have been on venlafaxine XR for several years. I find that it works quite well on my chronic depression. No particular side effects that I can name.

Even new therapists have told me it is known for having bad side effects. The problem, really, is that its about the ******* money to some of these 'doctors.' They get paid by pharmaceutical companies to push certain medications. Effexor, or Venlafaxine is supposed to be for both anxiety and depression. For me, I'll say it did help with anxiety, but did absolutely nothing for depression, and as I said before it made me sweat like crazy. And withdrawal was awful.

Hi there, the title says it all. I have been using this for a while 150mg XR Venlafaxine and 15mg 2x a day Salts. For once in my life I don't have severe depression episodes I stay awake all day and sleep well at night. I moved and this new psychiatrist claims that I will die from Serotonin Overdose if I keep taking these. I also take Oxycodone and Tramadol now and again for my chronic back issues deriving from manic episodes when I was younger.

I was on 150mg Venlafaxine for 5 years and after a withdrawal lasting 10 months have finally stopped. No withdrawal symptoms at all. Once before I stopped cold turkey and the brain zaps and other withdrawals lasted 2 weeks. If you look up 'How Long Does Effexor Withdrawal Last', you will find over 930 replies to that question. Did you lower your dose slowly? I went from 150mg to 10mg over those 10 months so I would not get any withdrawal symptoms.

Thank you for doing all of this for me. The thought of having to be monitored by EKG kind of freaks me out. (hence the anxiety meds!) I wish you didn't always have to get help for one thing and exchange it for another? What to do...what to do.

I've been on venlafaxine for over a year now and have had diarrhea for about 9 days. I noticed the tiny white balls this morning and was certain I had a parasite. Thankfully I came across this post. i am on 450 mgs venlafaxine, 150mg quatipine at night and have prn 3x .25 quatipine during the day. venlafaxine isn't working anymore. I have been given 2 options.. option 1. taper very slowly over a very long period of time and take other meds to stablize me, option 2. go back to the psych ward and under supervision come off venlafaxine which then is going to be replaced by another anti dep.
