Genital warts and herpes are different. I've never known warts to have "outbreaks." Once they're there, they stay.

do u mean carrier of hpv on cervix or genital warts?have ur paps cme up clean for hpv?my understanding of genital herpes is once u get it u always have it..and partner can get infected when u have outbreak and not taking valtrex....important question is ur partners hx of std's and what he could b bringing to u!

s never had a cold sore,or any signs of genital hsv-so can he be tested?? we havent been using condoms for the past year and a half but now we do coz of me.

he knows of my status and i take daily valtrex. he was also recently diagnosed with hpv (he had warts). his major concern is getting hsv from me. i rarely have outbreaks and i take suppressive therapy daily and i always check myself. what are the risks of him contracting it if we have a long term relationship? is it eventually inevitable? ive read and heard so much conflicting info.

I started having outbreaks in Aug 2008. I thought it was genital warts outbreaks because I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1999. At the time I was treated with aldara but I would get recurrances from time to time.However I went to the clinic and doctor and I was being treated with aldara, condylox, TCA, and podofilox and the whole time it was genital herpes I didn't find out until April 2010.

Ok so i had sex with 6 people and did others things....5 of them i did without a condom. So i recently been having like warts around the pubic area but havent got them recently...i recently found some dry spots on the head of my penis could this be herpes...if is im scared to even go to my doctor!! this been going on for almost 3 weeks. i see urologist yesterday, he tells me to take valtrex for 10 days and lotrimin 2x a day for 5 days. i feel he just diagnosed me with herpes OB cause of my history. any advice? he aslo said to cut argenine intake and increase lysine is that true?

Hi there, you have been given medication for herpes (hsv), not warts (hpv). There are low-risk and high-risk strains of hpv. Low risk strains of hpv may cause genital warts but usually don't. High risk strains of hpv may cause abnormal cervical cells that may lead to cancer but usually don't. It all depends on the immune system to battle the virus. This will determine if an individual actually experiences symptoms caused by hpv. Are you absolutely positive it is not folliculitis?

If an HPV test (from the cervix) is positive, it confirms HPV at the cervix, but it says nothing about whether your skin bumps are warts or not. But most genital warts are obvious -- they look like, well, warts. I'll be interested to hear the results of your doctor visit and your and your partner's HSV test results. But until then, likely I won't have more to add.

Also, I read that unless there is genital to genital with a person that has genital herpes, then oral transmission is not a risk if they only have genital. Hope it's true Meanwhile, after me and my ex broke up, she had sex with someone and tested positive for herpes during 3/10. However she was also diagnosed with a yeast infection from that same test. Wondering if there was a misdiagnosis. She's been on Valtrex everyday since the diagnosis.

m really starting to get tired of the run around with these doctors because how can it be genital warts when there is no warts! its just smooth red patches with scabs on them that fall off and scab back up again.. please someone shed some light on this situation I am reaching the end of my rope.

Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

I have been diganosed with external genital warts and am awaiting CO2 laser vaporization surgery. My first questions are: can the warts spread on me if I shave my external genital area or if I masturbate, can they be spread into my vagina? 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor and he found genital warts. I had the warts removed last week and my first question is, Does having both warts and herpes cause you to have more outbreaks and vaginosis episodes, and now that the warts are gone will the outbreaks decrease? Hello, Dr's. I have been reading a lot and am a bit perplexed. Last Friday night I had unprotected sex with a female. I awoke Monday morning and noticed 2 red bumps on my upper left thigh (1 larger than the other), 3 small bumps in my pubic region (2 of which looked like zits with white heads), some reddish/flesh colored bumps beginning to arise on the shaft of my penis.

So my advice is to keep your eye out for other, similar lesions, or for more typical warts. If anything shows up, get professionally examined. If not, just forget the whole business. I hope this helps.

Some can go away on their own, but symptoms can come back, especially left untreated. The Valtrex is good to take for the herpes outbreak itself, but if you do have Herpes, you need to continuously take it. There are two types of herpes, herpes 1 and herpes 2......the first is usually associated with mouth sores, but type 2 is forever and usually shows itself on the genitals. PLEASE go to the dr and get a blood test done.
