Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

Yes, I can suggest a website called MpWH, which is a site for people with herpes to talk to others who have herpes, some date, some don't. There is also a herpes support group on this website. Some larger cities have in person support groups, and you could find out more about them through ASAHSTD.org. I hope at some point you are able to come off Valtrex and get an accurate antibody test. It will help you get clarity, one way or the other.

Here I am, three months later, in vaginal pain daily, skeptical because everything I have ever read about herpes said the diagnosis is permanent and Wikipedia says HSV-1 does not always show up on blood tests for genital herpes. Please help!

Hi, i have genital herpes and have had almost monthly unwelcome visits for almost a week the past 1 1/2 years. Almost always at the same time as my period. I've tried daily medicines (valtrex) both the exact week and every single day - but it wasn't all that effective. Instead I've had a lot of pain. And valtrex just produced candida. I accidently took the wrong cream a while ago - and it helped a lot.

I had it swabed and the doctor said it was not herpes. I upped Valtrex to 1500mg a day for five days and nothing happened. Could I be allergic to the Valtrex and only have a rash on part of my body? Any ideas what to do? I thought it might be a herpes rash, but I would think after ten years, the rash would go away within 7-12 days. It seems to be getting worse even using the Valtrex. A few questions first- 1) Were you diagnosed with genital herpes? and 2) Are you taking Valtrex only during outbreaks or everyday for suppressive therapy? If you recently acquired herpes, outbreaks might occur frequently, usually no more than once a month. I'm not sure if the itching you are experiencing is a sign of another outbreak (3 weeks is a little soon, but I'm not sure if impossible)...I guess you will find out soon enough.

I have never heard of Herpes being ongoing for 2 years I think you should go back to your Doctor about this,if the lesions were swabbed and tested negative for both HSV1 and 2 then this is not genital Herpes .... the blood work would suggest you have HSV1 orally.
