valtrex dosing for children

I get cold sores and was recently prescribed valtrex for outbreaks. Trouble is, it isn't always obvious that I'm going to have an outbreak. I'd rather be safe than sorry - but don't want to take valtrex too often if it isn't safe. Would it be a problem if I took the one day 2,000 mg maybe twice per month when I thought an outbreak might be coming on?

I am trying to figure out how to minimize outbreaks (I seem to get one after every infusion) I am currently on generic valtrex which I had only been taking for outbreaks. I looked up the standard dosing for prevention of outbreaks but that doesnt seem to keep them at bay either. I cant stop getting th remicade so are there any suggestions as to what I can do?

However, depending on the reason for your question though, (For example - why you are using the progesterone? For pregnancy, for Luteal Phase Defect, for your menstrual cycle or Endometriosis etc?) without that information they might not know how to answer your question. Yes if you usually take the 1gm/day valtrex dose, the easiest thing to do is take 2 at a time, 2x/day for 1 day.

I have it on hand should I increase my dosing to head this off, I work for a doctor and we usually prescribe 5qd for 5/days..... any advice?

We have no studies on that, but if it was my patient that acquired first episode HSV 2 orally, I would treat with the genital herpes first episode dosing - 1 gram twice a day for 10 days. Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

s 2x/day dosing for suppressive therapy. I really recommend stopping the valtrex for a month now, letting your body get a break and then trying one of the other antivirals.

I started taking Valtrex for Herpes2, and I feel anxious,depressed, and I have been waking up with bad headaches in the middle of the night. I don't know if it is all in my head, because I just tested postive for this, and I have been dealing with this for about 15 yrs. I am still shocked. Just because one has herpes doesn't mean that EVERYTHING is herpes related. Quite honestly swollen/painful gums are not symptomatic of herpes at all. Blisters/lesions are. See your provider for a proper diagnosis.

I have just started takeing care of my mother in law who is in stage 4 breast cancer and her dr gave her Morphine SO4 IR 15mg one tablet every 3 hours and Morphine SO4 ER 30ENDO one tablet every 12 hours and I am confused on how to give them to her, she says I can give them to her at the same time and I am worried about it causing an overdose and I am having a hard time reaching her dr for instruction on how to give it to her, do i give her one first and then wait a few hours to give the other

After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?

t think the rash is going to be gone in 2 days so I am not sure if I would additional dosing of the Valtrex or if the 1 week was enough to alter the course. I am not sure what the protocol would be in that situation. The rash definitly hurts. It hurts to move, sleep, even the air from the fan causes pain. The skin next to the rash is sensitive to the touch and I actually have an on and off pain running down my leg. Not sure if this is normal, but hopefully it will pass.

( they gave you the wrong dose of valtrex too. It should be 1gm 2x/day for 7-10 days since this is a newly acquired infection for you we assume. Give them a call monday and tell them to check the PDR to see that they prescribed you the wrong medication and get them to correct their mistake and give you the proper prescription.

I totally agree with Opus88's comments. You should not be dosing your kitty. Dosing should always be left to the vet who, after all, is an animal doctor.
