Common Questions and Answers about Uroxatral in women

uroxatral

Avatar m tn I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative. I am currently taking uroxatral and avodart daily, and am curious as to why I am still having symptoms. Is it possible of being overmedicated? Or is there something that has been missed? If so what other possibilities are there?
Avatar f tn Just had a biopsy--awaiting results but, in the interim: enlarged prostate regardless of biopsy outcome. Flomax does not seem to be making an improvement in frequency of urination--does this have an indication that cancer is more likely? In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, there is a group of patients with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis-chronic pelvic pain symdrome. There patients have no bacteria in the prostate but have pain, often in the area between the testicles and rectum, plus the pain with ejaculation and sometines urinating symptoms. We don't know what triggers this problem and there is no cure. Uroxatral is an excellent option and you have gotten at least a partial response-- good.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?

Avatar n tn Now that your bladder has recompensated, you might actually be able to empty using an alpha blocker such as Uroxatral or Flomax, but I would not recommend doing that in the long term as you are skating on the edge of decompensating again. I would recommend that you have a prostatectomy and then be followed for adequacy of emptying and urinary tract infections.
Avatar m tn Dear Dr. Hook, Thanks for your reply. My current symptoms are prostrate pain (can't sit comfortably at all due to burning and swelling), urethra/testicular pain after ejaculation and urination difficulties (still on uroxatral). I'm 38 and was in excellent health prior to the STD exposure (female worker). All antiobiotics have seemed to help in one way or another but when I done with them then the pain comes back full force and the urination issues intensify.
Avatar m tn s office that turned up no answers. I was given Uroxatral to try but have seen no difference in almost three weeks. I've also started to take saw palmetto about two weeks ago but still nothing. I just can't feel relieved after I go to the bathroom. I always feel like I have to urinate. My bladder empties fine, according to uroflow tests but my stream is that of a man in his 80's not a man like me who will be 25 in December.
Avatar n tn There is no sense of urgency, just a feeling that there is urine still left in my bladder. Normally, I ignore the feeling and wait for it to masked by the filling of my bladder, but sometimes it is so annoying that I force myself to urinate again. This second time produces much less fluid and takes longer but still does not give me satisfaction. To get out that last quirt, I have to reach under my penis and put pressure on the urethra at the base of my scrotum.
Avatar n tn t use Flomax or other alpha blockers due to side effects -- disturbed sleep. Uroxatral even caused me to sleepwalk 15 feet from a nap on the sofa one evening, waking when I fell flat on my face in the next room! Separately, due to a Vitamin D deficiency my doc found, he put me on 50,000 units Vitamin D per week for 8 weeks, followed by biweekly doses. And guess what...the Vitamin D almost instantly "cured" the BPH.
Avatar m tn My urologist put me on Uroxatral for the time being; it has certainly helped with the pain in the prostate region and has helped with flow also. I'm still getting the on and off discomfort in my penis, but like I said...hoping something is found when I have the procedure.
976897 tn?1379167602 Most women believe that cancer (breast in particular) is the number one killer of women, and they are dead wrong! I am standing with you on this, dear friend.
Avatar n tn The symptoms are a painful burning feeling at the tip of my penis, the meatus, and slightly in and around the opening of my urethra. Sometimes in addition to the redness it will swell up slightly. I've never noticed any blisters or sores, no hard lumps, no pus, no discharge. I've had repeated tests for hiv, syphillus, chlamydia, and gonorrhea, as well as a swab test for HSV 1 and 2, and HPV. All of these tests have been negative for any diseases.
Avatar f tn Can you be more specific about what you want to know? In a lot of ways, "virgin" is a cultural definition. For example, in some patriarchial societies, men really, really care if the woman has not slept with another man before them, and they place a very high premium on this. Yet they are not disturbed if the woman has used tampons, for example. That is having something put into her vagina, but as long as it is not a man's penis, that is OK.
Avatar n tn Well honestly, that depends. I'm in the same boat you're in with wondering when to take a test. Some advice that was given to me was to take the test about 2-3 weeks after your missed period. But everyone is different, so it just depends on your body. If you take a test and it's negative, try to test again in a week or so. Good luck!!
1738259 tn?1310720378 The fact is that during their early self-pleasuring experiments, many men learn a very quick orgasm pattern in order to avoid detection—like in the bathroom (“You’ve been in there for hours! What are you doing?”) Learning to come quickly with a partner can also set up this pattern. In addition, guilt, anxiety and relationship conflict may create a situation where some men just want to get it over with quickly so they won’t have to deal with any of those feelings.
