1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar m tn I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative. I am currently taking uroxatral and avodart daily, and am curious as to why I am still having symptoms. Is it possible of being overmedicated? Or is there something that has been missed? If so what other possibilities are there?
Avatar f tn There is another class of medications, such as Uroxatral, which can help shrink your prostate and improve your symptoms. the results of this class of medications, however, often take many weeks before they make a major differences. Ultimately, flomax and drugs like uroxatral can be combined to give maximal medical therapy for BPH. Sometimes men continue to have problems and may be candidates for surgical intervention to improve symptoms.
Avatar m tn t know what triggers this problem and there is no cure. Uroxatral is an excellent option and you have gotten at least a partial response-- good. There is no risk of cancer or other serious impairment or long term damage to your pelvic organs. Symptomatic relief with Uroxatral, and possibly antiinflammatory agents give many men some relief.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?
Avatar m tn I was exposed to an STD 6 months ago and developed urethritis/epididymitis at first and then developed prostatitis. All std tests and urinalysis have come back negative and I've tried the following antibiotics/therapy: May 2011 GP - all std tests came back negative and urine was "clear" of bacteria. No abnormal WBC or RBC's. Diagnosed with epididymitis and urethritis – clear discharge and testicular pain (unilateral pain on left testicle).
Avatar n tn I am 58 yrs old, have BPH and had not taken medicine for the condition, as symptoms were not that bad. While in S. America in November, I had pain which was thought to be from kidney stones. I was given scopolamine. The doctor didn't ask about BPH and I didn't know that the med had side effects related to prostate. It became hard to urinate any more than small quantities at a time. I began retaining fluids, something that was determined after I returned home to US.
Avatar m tn He put me on Cipro 500mg 2x day for 4 weeks and uroxatral 10mg 1xday. This regimen did not help so I then went on septra DS for only 9 days (3 week prescription) because I didn't notice an improvement (hindsight probably stopped this one too early). He then put me on 10 weeks at 100mg 2x day.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if I have this in the correct category. I am a 24 year old male who is not overweight, works out five days a week, and generally eats healthy. I don't smoke or use drugs. I do drink on occasion. I constantly find myself going to the bathroom to urinate. When I finishing urinating, I nearly immediately feel the urge to go again. I have been to the doctor but nothing came up. I was tested for infection and an STD (I've not been sexually active in four months). Any ideas?
Avatar f tn t effect men more than women. By this I mean that women are more confortable talking about feelings and emotions and probably feel a little safer than men to speak of sexual abuse. Since women tend to speak about their feeling more freely they probably seek professional help more often or work things out quicker by talking to someone they trust.
Avatar f tn okay, im seventeen years old and have been with the same guy for three years. 973741 tn?1342342773 I've got a few aches and issues going on which has prompted me to read a bit about women and inflammation. It's normal to have some inflammation here and there but chronically, it's a problem. And pretty common for women to have this issue. I'm achy and have a bit of insomnia and fatigue. I'm of an age where that is somewhat normal but it's also a sign of too much inflammation. Being a few pounds over weight also adds to the risk of chronic inflammation.
Avatar n tn I have also had two tests for gon/chl since, all negative. I have been seeing the uro for about a year and he has tested my urine and prostate secretions - negative. I have taken several antibiotics and anti-spasmodics with no success. A cystoscopy indicated that my bladder neck was red, but uro doesn't see this is as a cause. However, this seems to be a very important clue to me. I have a degenerated disc in L4/L5.
Avatar n tn I can't use Flomax or other alpha blockers due to side effects -- disturbed sleep. Uroxatral even caused me to sleepwalk 15 feet from a nap on the sofa one evening, waking when I fell flat on my face in the next room! Separately, due to a Vitamin D deficiency my doc found, he put me on 50,000 units Vitamin D per week for 8 weeks, followed by biweekly doses. And guess what...the Vitamin D almost instantly "cured" the BPH.
Avatar n tn ve also been to a urologist who thought my problem might potentially be prostatitus or prostadynia, or possibly interstitial cystitis for which he prescribed a regimen of Prosed DS and Uroxatral. All treatments have failed to provide any significant relief. As a last ditch effort today he prescribed acyclovir as a clinical trial, being that we've tried everything else and I've not had any relief. If this doesn't work he's going to send me to an infections disease specialist.
976897 tn?1379167602 Most women believe that cancer (breast in particular) is the number one killer of women, and they are dead wrong! I am standing with you on this, dear friend.

4838207 tn?1363917730 This isn't a question just wanted to say that us women put up with a lot I personally think we are stronger than men. We carry their babies take care of ourselves and other kids (if this isn't your first). It's crazy how much we get taken for granted I wish the roles would switch so they can really see what we go through. I just wanted to give all of the mothers on here and everywhere a big thank you and tell you that you are very much appreciated especially by your kids.
Avatar n tn Well honestly, that depends. I'm in the same boat you're in with wondering when to take a test. Some advice that was given to me was to take the test about 2-3 weeks after your missed period. But everyone is different, so it just depends on your body. If you take a test and it's negative, try to test again in a week or so. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Can you be more specific about what you want to know? In a lot of ways, "virgin" is a cultural definition. For example, in some patriarchial societies, men really, really care if the woman has not slept with another man before them, and they place a very high premium on this. Yet they are not disturbed if the woman has used tampons, for example. That is having something put into her vagina, but as long as it is not a man's penis, that is OK.
Avatar n tn You can use ovulation predictor kits or watch your cervical mucus (CM) which will get sticky and clear like egg whites just before ovulation. I also check my cervix which sounds weird but is a great indicator if you check it every month and know how your cervix works. You can look online to find out how to do that. Anyway, there are several methods to predict ovulation. I hope this help. Just let me know if you have any more questions.
