Common Questions and Answers about Truvada and hepatitis b

truvada

Avatar m tn The iPrEx investigators performed hepatitis B serology tests at study entry and again at the time of Truvada discontinuation. People with positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg+), or with an isolated hepatitis B core antibody test (anti-HBc+) could enrol if they had no clinical evidence of cirrhosis and their AST and ALT levels, as measured by liver function tests, were less than twice the upper limit of normal and bilirubin levels were at or near normal.

Avatar f tn If while being switched from Hepsera to truvada is there a risk that the Hep B could become active? Also , the Hepatitis B DNA is currently undetectable and the Hep B Surface AG is currently negative (both prior to transplant as well as post transplant, so far ) what are the chances that the Hep B could become active again once the Hbig infusions are stopped? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I guess one would expect ALT and AST to go down by now. From my limited knowledge I could assume that your immune system got activated due to sudden reduction of virus in you. Take another measurment of DNA...by now it should be lower then the pre-treatment value (which was in millions). If your ALT and AST don't go down on the next measurement you could also get a second opinion from another doctor as to why that is the case.
Avatar m tn is truvada used for the treatment of hepatitis B, and how long do one take to clear the virus if your accute types
Avatar f tn Now i saw your hbvdna inthe other post and use of truvada was correct, the viral load is too high and both hbv vaccine and hbig may fail if it is not reduced
Avatar m tn the virus and the illness hepatitis are two different things, virus replication damages the liver and makes liver cancer/cirrhosis, entecavir can only block replication and liver damage so that you won t dye of cirrhosis or liver cancer but cannot eradicate hbv in the majority of patients, about 19% have hbsag lowering and will eradicate virus but therapy must be continuous for many years until hbsag gets negative since your hbeag has got negative in one month already you might have more chance
Avatar n tn I am a hepatitis B patient currently taking the HIV anti-viral drug Truvada. My hep B is very controlled right now and its viral loads undetectable. I was wondering if my situation suggest a possible infection and whether Truvada can possibly influence the symptoms somehow.
Avatar f tn If so I would like to know how you are doing with it? and if it is helping your hepatitis b? I have stage 4 kidney disease. My hepitologist just prescribed this med. My labs were not good. He hopes to get the virus under control so I can possibly get a kidney transplant. This would be a kidney from a cadaver donator, someone who had hepatitis b. So I am about to begin my journey. I don't really understand the lab numbers, he said something about 151,000? I am a little confused.
Avatar m tn I am diagnosed with chronic Hep B and on Truvada for more than 5 years now. The disease is under control and virus is almost undetectable. I am going on business trip to a country where Hep B vaccine is a requirement for the visa. Can I take Hep B vaccine? Will it cause me any harm? Will vaccine interact with Truvada and have any side effect? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thnaks.
Avatar m tn s T-cell counts. Tenofovir may also help control Hepatitis B. It also works against several strains of HIV that are already resistant to AZT, ddC, or ddI. Possible Side Effects: Headaches High blood pressure A general sense of feeling ill Nausea Vomiting Loss of appetite Increase of enzymes in the kidney and liver that may indicate damage to these organs Reduction of bone mineral density For more information, please visit Viread.
Avatar f tn During my pregnancy I used Tenofovir which is also cat B and my baby is healthy thanks god. I never stopped taking it. I don't know much about Truvada but as long as it is category B, I believe it is fine. Confirm with your dr. Goood luck.
Avatar m tn s told me the best way to fight hepa B is to make immune system stronger. I am new member here and I am positive hepa b carrier.
Avatar n tn Worse, there is no effective vaccine to prevent Hepatitis D among Hepatitis B carriers. Non-carriers can rely on the Hep B vaccine for protection against Hep D, but the Hep B vaccine does not do anything for carriers. So how easy it is to become exposed to the Hepatitis D virus? It appears that Hepatitis D is a top threat to Hepatitis B carriers.
