Robert Grant from the University of California at San Francisco Gladstone Institutes presented findings from a study of people with hepatitis B who used Truvada PrEP as part of the pivotal iPrEx trial. As previously reported, in this international study of nearly 2500 men who have sex with men (plus a small number of transgender women), daily Truvada reduced the risk of HIV infection by 92% among participants with blood drug levels indicating consistent use.
The main problem also is i took truvada as apart of my hiv treatment so if i decided to make hepatitis B pcr quantitative test maybe it becomes undetectable because of the seven months of truvada(i knew that truvada treat hepatitis B virus)

I'll start 1st by saying I'm a gay male who sought out Truvada as PrEp as a way to further eliminating my risk of HIV. Late October 2015 I sought out an infectious disease Dr who was knowledgeable of Truvada as Prep. Prior to him giving a prescription I was required to have a full blood panel along with a HIV test also screened for Hepatitis. This is when I discovered I was Infected with Chronic HBV. I had elevated alt & ast as well as a viral load in the millions.
Do you recommend the truvada over the viread or baraclude? If while being switched from Hepsera to truvada is there a risk that the Hep B could become active? Also , the Hepatitis B DNA is currently undetectable and the Hep B Surface AG is currently negative (both prior to transplant as well as post transplant, so far ) what are the chances that the Hep B could become active again once the Hbig infusions are stopped? has anyone been prescribed Truvada? If so I would like to know how you are doing with it? and if it is helping your hepatitis b? I have stage 4 kidney disease. My hepitologist just prescribed this med. My labs were not good. He hopes to get the virus under control so I can possibly get a kidney transplant. This would be a kidney from a cadaver donator, someone who had hepatitis b. So I am about to begin my journey.

Brief Intro: have been on Truvada for more than 3 years now, switching from LAM (lam resistance, I took lam for 3 years). HBeAg +, AntiHBe - , 25 years old, genotype B.
Ultrasound, fibroscan (around 5.0 kPa) & blood test (AST, ALT, Creatinin,... HBV DNA undetectable) every 6 months comes back normal (been doing this for 5 years now).
I'm thinking about taking Tenofovir only because I will move to a place where Emtricitabine is not available. I know it is better to combo.
the virus and the illness hepatitis are two different things, virus replication damages the liver and makes liver cancer/cirrhosis, entecavir can only block replication and liver damage so that you won t dye of cirrhosis or liver cancer but cannot eradicate hbv in the majority of patients, about 19% have hbsag lowering and will eradicate virus but therapy must be continuous for many years until hbsag gets negative
since your hbeag has got negative in one month already you might have more chance

i have seen a patient cleared hbv+hdv in 10 months interferon+truvada combo but truvada has more sides than etv and probably inf+entecavir is the about the same

03/17/2014 :{94 days after the incident} hiv -ve : Self test : private services {10 panel STD test}. Found HSV- 1 +ve some 54 or 46 no. in the report.
04/27/2014 : Orasure home swab test. hiv -ve : Self test.
Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. I tried to vomit it up but I was able to vomit only a part (dissolved part) of it. Because of panic, I forgot to take Kaletra last night. I rushed to the A&E and asked the doctor's advice on what to do. Since I waited for more than 3 hours before I was able to see the doctor, I was already drowsy when the doctor talked to me.
