Avatar n tn I see you posted in heart disease section also "how safe is it getting a pace-maker put in?" As with any surgery there are some risks; (complications occur less than 1% of the time) but if you are sick enough the doctor thinks you should have a PM or ICD implanted, then heed their advice. Have you looked up PM/ICD surgery risks on the American Heart Association or googled it to see the risks?
Avatar m tn I have one tooth severely losen and had it extracted. I expect to have an implant some time later. At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted. My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
Avatar n tn The my jaw did not heal correctly, because there were bone fragments and pus were the first tooth was removed, and implant. The second implant was pinching into my jaw and they was a notch there, and this implant was remove. Now I have a large ulceration above my right eye tooth to my jawline and there is a hard are near my right nostril you can palpate hard area my face. I am noticing clear drainage leaking out of my right nostril, and this area feels different from the left side.
Avatar m tn From the x-ray of my implant, I found that my implant is too close to tooth #9 and the bone in between my implant and tooth #9 not grow much to integrate with the implant. I could also see the implant through my front gum, the gray color show off. I deeply worried and began to consult with some oral surgeons and some implant specialist. When they see the x-ray, all their first reaction is: This implant is not good. So, I took a CT Scan to see the implant 3-dimension.

Avatar n tn I am 25 and need to replace a missing tooth. I am undecided between implant and bridge. My dentist has told me that normally for people my age he would advise implants, however, since my adjacent teeth have fillings, he told me that I should strongly consider a bridge. However, I am afraid of the damage that may be caused to the adjacent teeth. What do you think? Thanks!
Avatar m tn If root resorption tooth is asymptomatic , you don,t need to worry. No one can tell when the tooth will come out. Implant is a highly predictable and viable option for replacing missing tooth.once it is inserted and restored , it can service decades, no need to remove healthy implant.
Avatar n tn I removed 1 bad tooth last year and planed to do implant it this year. My previous dr. left the org some time last year. The new dr. changed my plan after my yesterday's visit. He asked me to remove 3 teeth before implanting the removed one. The 3 teeth are, 2 were decayed teeth but haven't had problem almost 15 years, they are wisdom teeth. One is 2 teeth away from the one to implant, 1 is far away at the other end. For the 3rd one need to remove, i agree with the Dr.
Avatar m tn i said no and they looked shocked and then we went ahead with the root canal, i told them to just pull the tooth but of course they didnt want to. i told them i didnt have 6000 for an implant or 3000 for a bridge so we did a root canal and they are going to fit a crown to it... if your not in pain yet then start saving money now....
Avatar n tn hi, i had a tooth implant done about a week ago and having some throbbing in that area is this normal?
Avatar f tn It could also be due to tooth infections, impacted tooth or skin infections. The others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few.To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime take OTC naproxen for relief from pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My first choice if you have to lose the tooth is the placement of an implant. The implant can be a life time restoration.Who places the implant and who restores it is very important.
Avatar m tn i need one for a molar and between the implant (the post put in your jawbone) and the crown (the tooth that screws on it) the cost was around $5000. this changes with the type of tooth being replaced and what part of the country you live in. the front teeth are cheaper.
Avatar m tn The decay extends down to alveolar bone, pulp is probably non-vital, which may need root canal treatment in order to rescue the tooth. However, restoration is difficult.Ideally, crown lenthening is needed in order to establish biologic width. However, after crown lenthening procedure, interdental papilla may recede and there may be black triangle present between tooth#9 and #10, which compromise cosmetic result. In addition, crown-root ratio needs to be considered.
Avatar f tn he told me that he cant put a crown and an implant must be done...he put a composite instead of the tooth and asked me to come for an implant but the dental surgeon who will work with him told me to make a panoramic and a periapical before taking the decision of the implant it showed that my roots are good and i dont feel any pain but it doesnt show the crack...i saw the crack in the mirror i know it is there but no one can now how deep is it...till now i dont feel any pain...
Avatar m tn I had a bad implant on tooth #10 which was put in on April 14, 2008. There is no bone cover the outer side of the implant. Also, the implant was placed in a position with close to #9. the implant was taken out on Aug. 14, 2008 by another doctor. She used BMP-2 which cause big swelling over 2-3 weeks. and light swelling afterwards. On Aug. 30. I noticed my #9 become loose and very sensitive to percussion. On that day, my gum on #9 and #10 was seriously inflamed.
Avatar f tn Tooth number 30 was extracted due to a mesial to distal crack = poor prognosis. Because the tooth has multi-roots I was told to wait 4-6 months to let the bone heal then I can get an implant. For a second opion, I'd like to know what you think. (The tooth was extracted Mon, 8-10 - today is 8/15 - it's been five days.
Avatar f tn I'm a 60-year-old female whoI had a dental implant done three weeks ago, after my tooth broke. I think it's tooth #29. Since then, I haven't been able to feel my jaw, lower right teeth, or lip. Making things worse is the pain I feel when I try to smile or if I move my mouth wrong. The pain is in my right ear, jaw, and inside my cheek. I find it difficult not chewing on my the inside of mouth when eating. At night, I have a throbbing pain to the tooth next to the implant.
762162 tn?1234331805 Should I get a second opinion? Is there another alternative to replacing a missing tooth without implant? and is teeth replaced necessary?? why ?? Please let me know what can i do now..
Avatar n tn m worried that if it is removed right now then I will end up with implant as the only option to replace the missing tooth which is be very expensive and I can't afford right now. Should I get a second opinion? Is there another alternative to replacing a missing tooth without implant? Please let me know.
Avatar m tn hello, i had an implant done 3 days ago after removal of my front upper tooth UR2, by the 'immediate loading' method. Everything seems to be fine, no pain, no bleeding etc, except for the strange feeling in my implanted tooth and the adjacent tooth UR1. The area feels a bit 'tight' ( i would describe this sensation to be similar to when i floss my teeth and the dental floss stucks between two of them causing a funny feeling of tightness).
Avatar m tn For example, I had a ReSTOR multifocal lens installed in my left eye and the newly caused blurring never went away after 6 weeks. The doctor wanted to implant in the other eye within one week, saying that the second eye would improve the first (but now bad) eye. It didn't make sense to me so I got a second opinion. The second doctor said that he will not implant multifocal lenses because the design is not perfected enough to give perfect vision. He recommends monofocal.
Avatar m tn I think I would go with an implant if you can afford it. i had a tooth extracted 3 weeks ago and might have to have one of my "fang teeth" extracted due to a failed root canal... im like you, i dont want to have a bridge done at the expense of a healthy tooth. from what i understand is each time a tooth has work on it...it makes the tooth more "angry"...thats why im not having a bridge done where i had the bootm one extracted...
Avatar f tn They want to extract this tooth next week and do an imedicate implant. I am very concerend that implanting this area at the same time of extraction with an abcess will cause worse problems. I am a heart patient and concerend. Should I be? The DDS (Oral surgeon) said once the tooth is gone..the infection is gone also., Is this true? I am on Augmentin 875 and this has not touched the pain or infection. Thank You so much for helping me with this.
Avatar m tn Hi, There are two problems a missing tooth can generally cause. One, as you are finding out, the tooth above will supra-erupt. Eventually that tooth will be lost if it's already dropping and continues, unless you get some opposition to it. And, second, the tooth behind will try to drift forward to close the gap. This can also cause loss of that tooth. Please go and be evaluated for either of those two conditions and see what is your best course of treatment.
Avatar m tn Before I went for the 3D Xray Periodontist said it needs to be extracted and to go with an implant. #22 supports a bridge. Is there an endodontic procedure that will save the tooth? I want the best long term solution. Also I read on the internet that there is a problem with food around a tooth after a root resection. Is the best solution extraction and an implant? I will need another implant next to #22 also as the bridge covers that space.
Avatar n tn If you can compress the tooth into the socket this is not a good sign that there is sufficient bone support for this tooth. It sounds like the prognosis for #31 is poor. There isn't anything you can really do to grow back the bone but if you are going to keep the tooth I would remove it from occlusion. This way it is not being traumatized each time you eat.
