Tobradex dry eye

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex dry eye

tobradex

Avatar m tn I saw a opthamologist recently who said I have dry eye syndrome and suggested systane ultra. How can I have dry eye syndrome when my eyes are tearing so much? Could the tobradex have reduced inflammation on my tear ducts, thereby causing increase in tearing? Also my eyes are red all the time and looks like I have been smoking pot or something. What can be done for this?
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, I was losing my eye sight about 2 weeks ago. It just came out of the blue. I had lens inplants in 2004. Been doing just fine. Until 2 weeks ago. My eye Dr. / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Tobradex after the optician couldn't figure out why my eye was showing symptoms of a blocked tear duct with the test coming back negative. I did 4 drops a day for a week. I've been off the drops for 6 days now and my vision has gotten substantially worse without improvement. I'm worried that it won't clear up. I can't drive and can barely concentrate at work.
Avatar f tn Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days.
Avatar n tn I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days. The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light. I searched on Google and found in many articles that the eye blurriness is one of the side effects of using Tobradex. My question is there anyone had the same problem of blurry vision? what precautions to take ? Is your eye is now ok?
Avatar m tn After a week of using the prescribed eye drops (Vigamox, Lotemax, Tobradex) it went away. The optometrist said the bacteria was gone and so I started wearing contacts after a day's rest. Within a day of getting off the medicated drops, there was a pink blur in my left eye. I continued using the medication thinking it was pink eye again. It worked for a week but now my eye is quite veiny. The doctor also had said that my eyes were very dry.
Avatar n tn Went to a specialist at this point and he said I was allergic to zylet, it took 2 weeks to clear up allergic reaction but I still have dry eye. He has prescribed restastis for 3 months . My question is do you think this will be a chronic condition or since its an allergic reaction will I be better soon? When I wake up my eyes are so dry I have to put drops in immediately, but during the day and evening I am fine and only put in refresh every 5 -6 hours when I feel a little scratchy.
Avatar n tn Why are you on Tobradex if everything looked normal? Perhaps you have a problem with the eyelid like a sty or chalazion. If optometrist doesn't know what you have, it would be in your best interest to see an ophthalmologist. YES to last question.
Avatar m tn My left eye has no visible skin redness or other issues other than the dryness and slight burning (*I would estimate a 75/25% scale between the right and left eye respectively regarding the dry-eye and burning)... The redness/rash has been so far only focused on my right eye throughout - although both the first and current treatment cycles have involved the same application of medicine to both eyes.

Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar m tn There is extended discussions available by search and archives on treatment of blepharitis and dry eyes plus a feature article on dry eyes on this page. These are chronic conditions.
Avatar f tn You might consider seeking a second opinion with a Dry Eye Specialist. There are multiple other treatments for the dry eye, no of which work rapidly (they take months). Restasis, Omega 3's, Autologous serum are just a few. For the blocked tear duct, visit with a occuloplastics specialist. Sincerely, Timothy D.
755712 tn?1233788474 I was not allowed to wear my contacts (which I stopped wearing about a few days I went into the eye doctor) for the next two weeks. I went in to visit my eye doctor about 4 times during the time I had pink eye because he wanted to make sure that the treatment was effective and I got my eyesight evaluated so I could get new glasses and contacts. The last time I went to the eye doctor I was wearing my contacts.
Avatar f tn If lid margin disease present, a lid cleaner like ocusoft or sterilid may help. There is probably an underlying dry eye problem or lid margin problem or allergies that is the main culprit. Identify it, try to eliminate the contact lens problem and maybe you will do better in the future.
Avatar f tn Preservative free in the eye with GenAqua.) Are these two what you might suggest? Regarding the goggles: would I still use the gel at night, or are the googles enough? or would the gel alone be enough and no need for the goggles then? There are five corneal/external disease MD's listed within a 10 mile radius (my comfort zone for traveling) so that turned up a nice selection for me. I think it is imperative for me to be seen, as this continues on with no relief.
Avatar n tn My 93 yr. old mom was given Tobradex for an eye infection and has not been the same since. She had no med. hist. other than moderate dementia. After the 1st dose of tobradex, she became difficult to arrouse and because of this, slightly dehydrated. She also had immediate increased difficulty in swallowing. Approx. 3 weeks after dc of ointment, she was in the hospital due to build up of upper resp. fluid.
Avatar m tn I went to my Optometrist the next morning and he found 3 lesions in my RT eye ... LT eye was ok (for now). He prescribed Tobradex 1 drop 4 times per day but seemed very concerned ..... Help .... what is going on in my system ... why the lesions and the blurry vision ?? Will this happen to my other eye ?? Why is this happening to my eye ... Help !!!
Avatar m tn i think tobradex cream is not a good medicion ...
Avatar n tn I am an adult and used Tobradex for an eye infection. I had adverse reactions to it and it made me sick. Ask you doctor about side effects because an infant is so small.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my eye with Tobradex ointment, and massaging the ointment into my eyelids. Also, I have not been wearing any eye makeup. I plan on replacing all of my makeup and brushes, to prevent a reinfection. Does this sound like my problem is styes? I am including a photo of my eye. The bump on my upper eyelid appears white, but in reality it is flesh colored.
Avatar m tn By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse. Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care.
Avatar m tn Hello, For the last 2 months, I have red eyes that feel sore, there is some tearing, only very slightly increased other discharge, no tenderness/pain or light sensitivity. At the beginning of the problem I went to an eye specialist, who examined me with the light and said it's conjuctivitis (I have got that in the past in the form of allergy, almost exclusively during the summertime though). He gave me Tobradex (10 days) and Opatanol which I took for approximately 20 days.
Avatar n tn On day 6, pressure was good according to my doc but today on day 13, pressure had gone above 30. My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure.
Avatar n tn For two months now, I've been being treated for an eye infection (both eyes). It was initially thought to be allergies, but the Patanol did not help. Opthamologist then prescribed tobradex, which worked until I came off it. We then moved to longer tobradex usage that tapered over two weeks. Came back again once I came off. Then moved to oral antibiotic for one week and zylet - no results. Now oral antibiotic for two weeks - no results.
