Tobradex eye ointment side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex eye ointment side effects

tobradex

Avatar f tn I was prescribed Tobradex after the optician couldn't figure out why my eye was showing symptoms of a blocked tear duct with the test coming back negative. I did 4 drops a day for a week. I've been off the drops for 6 days now and my vision has gotten substantially worse without improvement. I'm worried that it won't clear up. I can't drive and can barely concentrate at work.
Avatar m tn By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse. Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care.
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar n tn We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar n tn My 93 yr. old mom was given Tobradex for an eye infection and has not been the same since. She had no med. hist. other than moderate dementia. After the 1st dose of tobradex, she became difficult to arrouse and because of this, slightly dehydrated. She also had immediate increased difficulty in swallowing. Approx. 3 weeks after dc of ointment, she was in the hospital due to build up of upper resp. fluid.
Avatar m tn You could certainly try a short course of Tobradex ophthalmic ointment to the affected lid skin. If the condition has not improved in about a week or 10 days, I would have an ophthalmologist examine your child.
Avatar f tn I decide to make an emergency appointment with the first doctor I saw. She examines my eye and tells me to go back on the Tobradex and follow the same regimen as before. Again, it works. I go back to follow up and she tells me my eye looks normal again, but the top tear duct looks a little narrowed. She thinks this is all allergies and that I should see an Allergist.
Avatar m tn On the third day, I applied ointment myself. I realized my right eye started to become pink eye. On the fourth day when I woke up, my left eye totally couldn't open and then able to open after a while. After I closed my left eye for a long time, my left eyelid was stick together and it dropped tears after I opened my left eye. Later I found out my left eye felt pain when seeing light.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my eye with Tobradex ointment, and massaging the ointment into my eyelids. Also, I have not been wearing any eye makeup. I plan on replacing all of my makeup and brushes, to prevent a reinfection. Does this sound like my problem is styes? I am including a photo of my eye. The bump on my upper eyelid appears white, but in reality it is flesh colored.
Avatar n tn I am an adult who got double conjunctivitis while away on vacation. Dr prescribed ointment but I wasn't totally better when i got home so went to local eye dr who prescribed zylet. After 2 days my eyes felt dry but he said it was the heat ( we are having a cold winter in ny)and to keep taking it with refresh drops, which I did for 10 days. Went to a specialist at this point and he said I was allergic to zylet, it took 2 weeks to clear up allergic reaction but I still have dry eye.
Avatar f tn Doctor said everything is the way it should look inside my eye following the surgery and he is not concerned. I am using TobraDex ointment 2x a day. Can you advise why my eye lid is swelling shut?
Avatar m tn I did feel some of the side effects mentioned in its pamphlet, like eye ache and itchiness, and a bit of stinging that didn’t last long but the aching was becoming more consistent. Sunday 5/13 and today 5/14 my right eye feels more sore, or achy since Friday when I started taking the eye drops. I’m suppose to take 3 more doses (1 more tonight, 2 tomorrow) according to my instructions. My right eye feels very uncomfortable and the aching is more consistent than Friday too.
Avatar m tn I got worried and went to a urgent care and met a general physician, he prescribed me Gentak eye ointment and I used it for 2 days and the eyes got well. Now, again it started from few days the eyes becoming red and feels irritating, and this time I went to a ophthalmologist yesterday and he prescribed TOBRADEX and he said vision and everything is good and it seems to be an infection (conjunctivitis).
Avatar f tn Then it became so bad, that I had sharp pain in the left eye (surgery eye). Anyhow, I was then diagnosed with blepharitis, took some antibiotics and use an ointment daily along with scrub cleaning the eye lashes after warm them with compresses. The problem is that I still have problems in the surgery eye, the sharp pain returns ever so often, along with the congestion in the nostril with the new tubing. So, my question is can you have blepharitis in one eye only?
Avatar n tn Why are you on Tobradex if everything looked normal? Perhaps you have a problem with the eyelid like a sty or chalazion. If optometrist doesn't know what you have, it would be in your best interest to see an ophthalmologist. YES to last question.
Avatar m tn Almost 5 days i took Tobradex ointment but it doesnt improve my vision. After further diagonis they said right eye has affected with CSR . For last onew week i am taking Nevanac(nepafenac opthalmic suspension) 0.1% for evry 2 hour and duotrav ( travoprost/timotol) one drop at night) and celebrex tablet one per day. My vision is improving slightly but no significant improvement.
Avatar m tn Long term steroid eye use like long term steroid use by pill form makes side effects almost inevitable. In the eye it includes cataracts, glaucoma and increased risk of fungus infections.
452314 tn?1209596780 Tobradex ointment 2 times a day for a month, After a month he went back for a check up and was told to decrease the use of Tobradex ointment and was told to use it once a day but still did not recommend the continuance of the grafting. I really would appreciate it if you could say something about it. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Hi There, My three year old daughter has had this chalazion on the outside of her bottom eye lid for almost 2 months now and with my GP's guidance, we have tried an oral antibiotic which did nothing, and then we tried a topical ointment which again did nothing so my GP referred me to children's eye doctor who was wonderful and he gave us tobradex to apply topically to the outside of her eye.
Avatar m tn I saw a opthamologist recently who said I have dry eye syndrome and suggested systane ultra. How can I have dry eye syndrome when my eyes are tearing so much? Could the tobradex have reduced inflammation on my tear ducts, thereby causing increase in tearing? Also my eyes are red all the time and looks like I have been smoking pot or something. What can be done for this?
Avatar f tn 2%, Tobradex Ointment 3ml, Ciprofloxacin 3.5, .3% GenTeal lubricant eyedrops and Lotemax .5mg using twice a day. I have taken and I am still using most of these meds as directed. The ophthalmologist tells me that my tear ducks are blocked and that I have dry eyes. My quality of life is almost non-existence because I can not hold my eyes open. I have to keep them closed of day because they burn and hurt almost to the point I can not tolerate it.
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar m tn The steroid in Tobradex may help short term, but this is not a long-term solution. Oracea is a slow release form of Doxy type drug and has less side effects. However, many insurances will not cover it. Topical Azasite if very effective. Dr. O.
