Avatar m tn A few days ago, while trying to belt out some higher notes, I hurt my voice. My voice is hoarse, and in the hollow of my throat, right between my collar bones, there is a burning sensation. My voice cracks occasionally, and I noticed a loss of one octave spanning across the past five months, and it gets tired really easily. I have put myself on vocal rest, and have been keeping the talking to a minimum. I also noticed that when I sing, my larynx goes up really high. What could this be?
Avatar n tn A day later I started to lose my voice and could not get rid of the sore throat. I have always had bouts of pharyngitis, though never with voice loss. That is what it feels like, pharyngitis. Could the badly decayed tooth be causing the pharyngitis + the voice loss.?
Avatar f tn When I get excited like at football games or loud parties my throat seems to tighten up and my voice is altered to very low like laryngitis until I settle down and its over. At night I seem to have to clear my throat alot if I don't constantly drink water. I also notice that my tonsils have cryptic craddles and some times collect food thats eaten and decays causing very bad breath even when I can't see anything in my tonsils.
Avatar f tn I think it has something to do with the jaw, the muscles in the throat and the nerves in the throat which are being vibrated by the vocal chords. I saw an ENT last fall. He said my vocal chords were just fine. He saw something else a little red but could not see any reason why I couldn't talk. I was a little hoarse at that time but had a lot of pain in my throat. I would like to be able to sing as I go through school (getting my Masters in Music Education).
Avatar f tn I have problems with my voice and have for about 30 yrs.I got hit in the throat causing a bone that controls one side of my voice box. I don't know about that type of surgery, but if you were put to sleep they insert a tube down your airway and inflat a balloon to hold it in place. If it is not properly deflated before removing, it can also break those bones. That would give you air instead of sound.
Avatar m tn It may be laryngitis which is inflammation of the voice box. This can be caused by bacterial or viral infections, mucus coating due to post nasal drip, irritation of the throat and voice box by irritants. Irritants can be anything from dust, smoke, etc. Damage can also be caused if you suffer from acid reflux. You may have damage to the vocal chords by over use, or by straining the vocal chords. If you do sing, then do make sure you do vocal warm ups.
Avatar m tn Had problems for a year. Had some sort of throat infection, flu symptoms, sore throat,( but unsure if this is connected with my problems now.). Then I started having problems with my voice. Difficulties with singing and screaming.Tired. Doctor saw redness in throat, and I got allergi medicines, and antibiotics. Not much help in them. During summer, voice problems worse.Pain using voice and swallowing. Lump in the throat feeling, sometimes food stuck in throat. Pain in the neck.
Avatar f tn ve been coughing my lungs up which is of course causing cramps just about every time I cough and popping my left hip out of place regularly but now my throat is raw and I completely lost my voice. I feel less sick today except my throat feels like it's on fire. What will help my throat? I really hate taking medicine, especially while pregnant, and now I just need to soothe my throat and hopefully get my voice back instead of get rid of symptoms. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Avatar m tn Now this problem with my throat and losing my voice. Is it really caused by anxiety or is it something else. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysponea - I also have problems with excessive mucous in my throat and nasal passage - could the combination of the two cause my voice problem. I take Flonase and Respra for the mucous and I use to take botox injections for the Spasmodic problem. I have had 8 injections without success.
Avatar m tn s never really been an issue. Recently I develoloped serious problems with my voice and throat and I went to a specialist where I had a gastroscopy done as he felt it that my reflux could possibly be causing the problem. I was put on Protium 40 initially but my GP put me on Protium 20 after about three months(mistake on her part possibly) which has controlled it but I still get reflux from time to time. I have been on protium for 6 months approx but my vocal issues still exist.
Avatar n tn i am facing problems speaking with my voice hoarse and breathy. my age is 24 yrs and i am facing this problem for the last 5 years. i have been living with peripheral neuropathy, as the docs have diagnosed, and am unable to walk. when i speak, i personally feel the other person should hear it clearly but he has to ask me a second time what i had spoken. also i am comfortable speaking when i have my head turned to the right side and feel less strain on my throat.
Avatar f tn I had this happen a couple of years ago. I developed head tremors and a shaky voice. The head tremors I still get from time to time, but I've not had any problems with a shaky voice. Your voice can be affected by an MS attack.
Avatar n tn It feels like something is wrapped around my throat restricking my throat. I also start to lose my voice late in the day, It seems like the more I talk the worse it gets. I seen an ear, nose and throat Dr. and he scoped my throat. He said that the plate from the fusion is pushing on my throat and has taken up the room that the vocal cords need and that they get inflamed. He feels the plate should be removed for it will cause more problem later.
