Avatar m tn s natural healing mechanisms to target the cause of the problem, as opposed to merely tackling the symptoms. It would be wrong to present herbal hair loss remedies as a miracle solution for all sufferers - there is however growing evidence to support the view that some herbal remedies offer real hope to many people. Let's examine the case for some of the more popular remedies to determine if they're worth trying.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had hair loss post tx, like 1 yr. later. I am having alot of hair loss in the past 3 weeks. I am also wondering if it is o.k. to take hair vitamins. Not currently on tx. I take fish oil, garlic, vit D and calcium. I think since I am not on tx. that this is O.K. Am I wrong?
Avatar f tn I know that the testosterone could be the culpret with hair loss, but the suddenness of the hair loss makes me question whether it is the cause. I have an appointment in a few weeks with my GYN to discuss my October lab work. I am in my late 50's and I don't think that many women in their 50's and 60's know how much better testosterone can make you feel - energy and sense of well being. I hope that I don't have to give it up.
Avatar m tn I recently got blood work done. I had been complaining of fatigue, brain fog, and most notably, hair thinning and shedding. Free T4: 1.16 (ng/dl) T 3 Total: 1.25 (ng/dl) TSH: 4.92(miu/ml) Free testosterone: 13.5(pg/ml) Testosterone Total : 283(ng/dl) range (249-836) My doctor noted mildly elevated levels of TSH and so prescribed synthroid 25mcg daily and to recheck levels in 3 months.
1281181 tn?1271688273 Hello, I recommend testing for both Ferritin and Vitamin D Hydroxy 25; deficiencies in both of these can cause hair loss and are common in people w/ Hashi's.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am not aware of L arginine and Lo orthinine causing any changes in testosterone levels which effect hair loss. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am 18 years old, and have been having issues with hair loss. It all began about 2 years ago when I initially switched up my diet and lost weight quite rapidly. I lost my period for about 6 months and my hair shed. I had blood work done then, and no irregularities were present. My hair loss eventually subsidized (although my hair never fully grew back), and my period returned. However, in June I missed my period, and my hair loss returned.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Avatar f tn My testosterone seemed fine - I became very upset and took my shower hair ball to my doc in a ziplock bad (I have a lot of hair and doc seemed dismissive of my hair loss) she was shocked and ordered labs....my testosterone came back high. I am taking 100mg of spironolactone and liquid rogaine. It has been almost 5 months and my hair loss stopped at month 2 and my hair is regrowing now, I have 2 inch long fairly dense hair growing in my balding spots.
Avatar n tn Has a doctor ruled out a medical condition for the hair loss, like low testosterone or a thyroid condition? If you have a medical condition causing the hair loss, you need to treat that first.
Avatar m tn While stress is a known culprit for hair loss, the loss of hair can also be due to anemia, male pattern of hair loss (due to your age and hormonal and genetic factors) or due to a scalp condition such as dermatitis or dandruff. Sometimes low testosterone too causes hair loss. Hence, these conditions should be ruled out too. If your thinning of hairs is mainly affecting the top of head and the temple area, then probably you have male pattern of baldness.
Avatar n tn From another site: "Most men are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness. It is the effect of hormones on the hair follicle that produces male pattern baldness. Testosterone, a hormone that is present in high levels in males after puberty, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT has an adverse affect on the hair follicles.
Avatar m tn Not sure if I am posting in the right place, but I was wondering if any heavy drinkers experienced hair loss ONKY on their shins/lower legs? I notice thinning there and have read that it could be a consequence of alcohol consumption. Then again I'm 42 and i imagine that testosterone loss can be the culprit. Any ideas? Much thanks.
Avatar n tn Once I started the testosterone replacement, I regained muscle loss, I regained my hair and generally I feel good. You may need more than 10 days to really notice the difference. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Masterbation is definately a cause of hair loss as it converts testosterone into dht,i m an 18 year old guy and lost half of my front hair early cuz i use to masterbate 3-4 time daily sometime more but there r some other factors related to this problem such as using warm water on scalp, ithing due to dandrough etc,u better quit or keep it max 3 times a week.
467959 tn?1207086251 I am also suffering from hair loss (like many of you out there). According to my dr. this should have stopped by now. At my last dr's appt in Feb 08, I asked him about the acne and hair loss, his answer was, "I really don't know what to say about that." I know there is something out there that can be done. Does any one have ANY suggestions? I'm so frustrated at this I don't want to call my dr. and go off on him!
