393685 tn?1425812522 Androgens secreted by the adrenals provide the majority of DHEA for both men and women. For women, the adrenal glands are the major source of testosterone. Imbalances in the adrenal system can contribute to problems with the nervous and immune systems, body composition difficulties, blood sugar irregularities, and high androgen levels.
Avatar m tn ve also read that taking testosterone has many great benefits (Testosterone supplementation trims visceral fat, builds skeletal muscle, improves muscle strength, and promotes overall sexual function). Are there any negative side-effects? Thank you for your help!
Avatar m tn The Urine results showed my Testosterone levels were very low for someone my age. And one doctor recommended going on Testosterone Replacement Thereapy. Im not sure how reliable Urine testing is for hormone levels, since opinions on it differ and dont want to start hormonal therapy if i dont need it, since my blood levels were fine. Can someone help elaborate on this? One other thing i did notice when my face deflated was my oily skin became dry. Not dry, like flaking, but just dry.
Avatar m tn It is also vital that you check your levels of testosterone, which is an important substance for a variety of reasons. Make sure you get tested for both free and bound testosterone. Over 50% of testosterone is bound in the plasma (the fluid portion of blood, in which cells are suspended) by both sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and albumin. In fact, only 2% exists as free testosterone.
Avatar n tn Due to having lost my left testicle and having had repeated infections in both testicles my testosterone levels after the loss of my left were quite low. The testosterone is supposed to help with sex drive but also to maintain body mass. I asked the urologist about possible shrinkage and he sort of dismissed it, and told me that the testosterone should help to maintain things. I hope that this information is helpful for you. God bless.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have low testosterone level (400 ng/dl) and I have been struggling to gain muscle. Recently I was down with viral fever and lost almost 10 kgs of "muscle". I literally lost most of the weight from the upper body. Now I am trying to gain weight. Someone adviced me to takeup meal supplement like mass gainer which will provide high carb and protein to bulk up in couple of months and after that I can stop using it. I go to gym everyday.
Avatar m tn t aromatize to estrogen would shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone. Because that would essentially limit the need for an aromatase inhibitor.
Avatar f tn For more technical advices google for 3 moves for toned triceps. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I had facial hair when I was not fat; when I did permanent hair removal, I was not fat yet it didn't work; Met is not for testosterone treatment; and if she thinks I have no PCOS, why would Met make a difference for me in this sense? My weight did not significantly decrease between the 2 tests. I was 219 lbs last year and 215 lbs this year at the test. I'm only 5'3" so that's still obese.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I'm not familiar with this particular one, but did a little research and from what I've read, it's main claim to fame is the HGH. HGH naturally declines as we age; my sister was given HGH as part of her leukemia treatment; it neither helped her skin, nor helped her lose weight. I've never been one to recommend products of this type. They're not approved by FDA and you have no idea what you're really getting.
Avatar m tn I have ovaries but uterus and fibroids removed. Suffering hot flashes, memory loss, and most annoyingly: insomnia in middle of night. Also belly fat, occasional vaginal dryness. Confused whether I need estriol bio identical from Naturopath or estrogel from GP? Each poo poo's the other. Also dont know how to determine if I need progesterin (despite Uterus removed) or testosterone. Who in Toronto tests these levels and what should I specifically ask to be tested for.
Avatar m tn s just buried in the fat pad. A good weight loss program can sometimes (but not always) correct that. Unfortunately, that is often the last place you'll lose subQ fat. There is no known successful or safe "penis enlargement" surgery. Unfortunately, a penis is not like a breast (no implants to enlarge it), but then again, unlike breasts, penises do not show except in the tightest skimpiest bathing suit.
8309591 tn?1397596954 well there are some reasons that can lower your testosterone level and i will let you know how to avoid them .. so very first thing is fat , fat can decrease your testosterone level hope you are not a fat guy as you have an active routine . the second big thing that can cause lower testosterone level is no regular sleep schedule or sleeping less than required so get a healthy sleep and take it as it is required don't sleep too much as well.
978469 tn?1433547946 congratulations on the weight loss--please keep up the good work. Ther ultrasoind findings are definitely a residua from having the fatty liver--it will take a while for total normalization of the hepatic parenchyma so i wouldnt expect the ultrasounds to become normal so quickly.
950277 tn?1247274551 I used to work with a guy that would get testosterone shots quite frequentely. I knew he was buying them on the streets. Don't worry, I am smarter then that. He just seemed to have such great energy. He accredited it to the drug. However, He gained loads of weight and looked like a ball!
193609 tn?1292180293 Hey ladies! I just found out today that I have PCOS! So, losing weight is going to be harder for me than I had hoped. It has always been hard for me to lose weight (now I know why) but I am considering the South Beach Diet. Anyone have good luck with that diet? I already work out, so now I just need to make sure my diet is in check. I have been counting calories and staying under 1300 but I don't think that is going to be most effective for me now that I know that i have severe PCOS.
1970378 tn?1326124598 I heard this shocks your body into using fat for energy. I am not sure how I will have energy to work out at 1:00pm, but will try Yes--I am giving my doctor a chance to do the testosterone test and if not, I am looking for someone else.
Avatar n tn I have most of the classic symptoms with Low Testosterone: Low libido, fat in mid-section, fatigue, grumpy, low stamina, medium/weak erections etc., Went to my Urologist. After blood work, he said I was fine and prescribed nothing. I'm thinking he's crazy. Can someone review my readings and give me an unofficial recommendation? I'm thinking I should've been recommended some sort of therapy, and if so, which therapy is good for my situation?
Avatar m tn found that increasing vitamin D intake led to increased testosterone levels. Testosterone is a key anabolic, or muscle-building, hormone, and it can aid in weight gain.
Avatar f tn Women do not have enough testosterone to become big and bulky. Weight training well help to tone your arms up. If you google arm workouts for women there are tons of resources.
Avatar f tn Hi, my husband has mild depression, low sex drive, soft erections, desesatization (which makes it harder for him to achieve orgasm), gained fat around his middle, more tired, but doesn't sleep well, loss of muscle mass, acne on his back, low sperm count, low sperm mobility, and he's had benign enlarged prostate and frequent urination at night. Plus he no longer has morning erections. These symptoms have developed one at a time over the yrs and has grown worse with age.

Avatar f tn I am trying this special scale now that tells me my bone density, water and muscle level. The number are 40% for fat, which is strange, 35% and 35% for water and muscle, and bone is 4%.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the information! At 1 time I did have low DHEA, so when I asked the doctor she said she didn't know why they where low, so I started taking a DHEA supplement. I had my test results wrong... my Cortisol AM is 33.0 HIGH... normal- 6.2-19.4. I am just so tired of doctors telling me that there is nothing wrong, when the test results are showing there is.
