Taking zoloft for the first time

Common Questions and Answers about Taking zoloft for the first time

zoloft

Avatar f tn The high anxiety makes us fear taking medication. I take Zoloft and Xanax as needed. The xanax is for emergency situations and helps me through some really tough times but the zoloft has helped me to remain level headed. It works wonders and I am so happy I finally took it. My first panic attack was out of the blue, I remember this heat feeling crawling up my back and the chest paid etc. I was so scared... I was 18 at the time and had no idea what was happening.
1948474 tn?1329154264 i started by taking a half of a 25mg for a week then took the 25mg for a week, and now im on 50mg for a week. so far i have the shakes, cant sleep, no appetite and im still very sad. i was hoping that it would have started to make me feel better by now. can anyone give me any feedback, i appreciate it so much!
1012810 tn?1260749658 I felt calm but not myself then after the insomnia I had thoughts of suicide. two BIG side effects. I stopped taking them. Zoloft isnt for everyone. If you feel unhappy stop taking the meds, it could be a side effect. Call your dr. and explain how you feel when you are on them and ask for other options medically. my opinion....you become too dependant on the meds. if you did things you liked and kept yourself busy yours would vanish..it is a fear horm in us..
1012810 tn?1260749658 i have been on a low dose of zoloft (25mg) for 12 days now. i have trouble falling asleep so i dpnt go to bed until at least 4am. because of that i dont get up until about 1pm and thats when i take my zoloft. i was wondering if i could switch my pills to an earlier time. like maybe 11am or noon. is this really going to hurt anything if i do this??
Avatar f tn I did experience brain zaps for weeks after I stopped. At first I felt great being off of Zoloft. But 2 months later in April 2009 I started getting more and more anxious and eventually started having full blown panic attacks again. I started taking Zoloft again in May 2009. In November 2009 I again weaned off of Zoloft. Again I had brain zaps but this time I had extreme emotional swings. I would cry at the drop of a hat and I would get intense anger at the slightest things.
Avatar n tn s out there who have experienced what you are going through. Anxiety CAN go into a remission for very long periods of time. Even though you say the divorce you're going through is "for the best," it's still a traumatic life change and could be the reason your anxiety has resurfaced. That you have obviously sought treatment tells me you are aware of your feelings, which is a good thing.
956433 tn?1255977108 im 21yrs old male and about a week ago i started taking Zoloft(25mg) for 6 days and now im on 50 mg. since i started taking it i have had zero sex drive. so today i decided i would masturbate , mostly to check if everything was in working order.
Avatar n tn Hopefully some of the folks actually taking this med can offer further experinces and information,, but in the meantime do take a look through the threads for more zoloft information and stories.
1460652 tn?1340248730 ) but i know those dont interact with zoloft. A lot of people say it happens during the first days of a ssri. is this normal? im gonna stick with it and take the 25 mg but im scared to death! ive also tried lexapro but it caused palpitations for me. Any one else ever have this happen with the zoloft? does it go away if you stick with it? Im so nervous cuz i just took the 25...
Avatar n tn I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness. Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try. The first day was wonderful - I was able to slow down and focus and much of the frantic feelings I normall have were gone.
Avatar n tn Just two weeks probably won't be that hard to deal with, though everyone is different. But you seem to be saying you're already taking klonopin -- do I have that right? Because if you're already taking it every day for sleep, not a great use of a benzo, you're already facing the withdrawal problem.
Avatar f tn Before, my regular routine was taking the zoloft first and my anxiety took over and always made me so nervous in the mornings I would have to take the clonazepam shortly after the zoloft. Is there something stronger than zoloft that may help my severe anxiety better? Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn I, like you, absolutely hate taking pills. I really had no problem last time with the Zoloft, the first two weeks were tough but after that I felt great, I know allot of people cannot take them. I think that's why this time is different, it's not working like it did and I will quit if it doesn't get better. I only planned on doing it for the winter months, that seems to be when it hits me I may have that SAD - seasonal disorder, it's tough here in Minnesota!
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info. It's only my second day taking the Zoloft and so far no side effects, other than a slightly drier mouth. I really hope these are the ones that work for me. I've forgotten who my real self is in my natural state. It's been so long. Well, I'm bound to find something that works. Thanks.
1269044 tn?1393189903 I made it 48 hrs before I started feeling crazy, anxious, sad. All the raw nasty feelings the first few weeks of wds. Now granted I probably should have tapered so maybe that was my problem. But I decided at this moment Zoloft definitely seems to be helping my anxiety and a little on the depression part. Saw my Dr yesterday. She still wants me to go up to 50mg. I'm only on 25mg still.
1058261 tn?1256057540 Can anyone out there with depression tell me what I should excpect for treatment its been long time for me. are any of the drugs they are more than likely gonna give me addicting??? Avatar f tn I am a 49 yr old female. Started having anxiety attacks 8 weeks ago after severe stress dealing with my 81 yr old mother having health issues (visiting nuring home everyday and hospital 3 weeks out of two months). I live 1000 miles away.Went to emergency when visiting my mom in icu. They gave me .50 zoloft and .50 klonopin. Came home, saw my dr, said to continue on same dosage. Still wake up with anxiousness, think zoloft is giving me these symtoms.
Avatar n tn I know the headache it causes running out of pills and searching for more. I would do that over and over again towards the end of the month. The headache for the physical part of withdrawals will get much much better after 5 days or so. It's such a short amount of time! It's pretty much like a bad flu. Just try and look at it as just that. When you're sick you know you'll feel better after a few days. The same goes with withdrawals. What helped me the most was going for walks.
Avatar f tn It is different with various people, and as you know, I am also on Zoloft. I actually take mine in the early evening because if I take it any later I also cannot sleep. Make sure you discuss it with your doctor first though.
Avatar m tn When I tried Cymbalta for the first time recently, it caused ringing in my ears big time. I had to turn the TV on just to drown out the ringing. So, yes, it could be the Zoloft.
Avatar f tn I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. I've heard nothing but horrible things about Zoloft. Is there anyone that has takin it during their pregnancy? What is your opinion and experience?
