taking diflucan in pregnancy

In my experience, the over the counter creams do not work for me but I am extremely sensitive to medications. I alwasy call my doctor and she'll call in a script for me. But, I think Diflucan is the only oral medication (at least it's the only oral medication I've ever heard of for yeast infections).

I am aware that thrush is very common in pregnancy, however Im struggling with it really bad. I do all the right things,natural yoghurt, cotton underwear, avoid bathing for too long and only wash that area with Aqueous cream. Also had cream prescribed by doctor to help and nothing is working. Im going to go back to Doc and see if there's anything else they can do but just wondered if anyone else suffered or is suffering with this during pregnancy and if they found anything that helped??

t taken it yet, because I think it might be to early for a test to show if it is positive. What should I do? Is it from changing BC, or taking Diflucan ( I have taken it before, but it has never altered my period), or possible pregnancy. I can't go to the doctor because I do not live in the city where my insurance is valid. PLEASE HELP!

There have been a few reports of multiple, serious birth defects in infants whose mothers took Diflucan in early pregnancy (usually high doses for an extended period of time). Because the birth defects were distinctive and similar in these cases, it is assumed that the medication probably caused the defects. However, statistics generally do indicate that short-term use (such as the single dose used to treat vaginal yeast infections) does not seem to cause such problems.

I took diflucan a couple times with my first pregnancy but it was later in pregnancy. I got a yeast infection with my second pregnancy very early on. They didnt want me to talk diflucan that early. I am the same way as u. Nothing works but diflucan for me. so i know how u feel.

I been taking diflucan pills and using cream proscibed by my doc.the last yeast infection I had they gave me the seven day treatment...u been done taking the but last I had sex with mii faince n when I when to the restroom it burned for me to pee ...I thought that was over with bc that the problem I been having but now the yeast is gne I didn't think this should be happening.... after taking the meds I waited over a week to have sex ....WHATS THE BIG DEAL WITH THIS AM FED UP WITH IT ..

Your normal bacterial flora in your intestines are getting unbalanced and/or you are losing some organisms due to the antibiotics. You should start taking probiotics. This will help get your normal bacteria back. But I would ask Metametrix if it will cause any problems with their test just to be sure. Also, you can take an oral antifungal but I wouldn't recommend it because they have bad side effects.

Yes it's safe after 12 weeks. I am on round 2 of my dose. I am a rare case and I get VERY bad yeast and BV infections which cause bladder retention and usually have to get catherized for a week. I've had a cath 4 times this pregnancy and i'm only 16 weeks! I just took diflucan again yesterday and have another dose I will be taking in 3-5 days if the symptoms are still here. When I'm not pregnant I use oil of oregano orally for yeast.

I am almost on my last week of pregnancy and I may have a yeast infection, would taking monistat 7 now be unsafe since I'm so close to delivery? Or can my doctor prescribe me with some kind of medication?

I've taken 2 Diflucan tablets one one friday and one on Saturday. Monday i started bleeding my period is not due for another week.

So yesterday I took one dose of diflucan which is an antibiotic when I looked up the interactions it said it has a major reaction with xanax... its been over 12 hours since I took the diflucan... does anyone know if I can start taking my xanax now.

since then i have been to my gyno who cultured my yeast infection and said best medication for it was diflucan, so he also prescribed me to diflucan for 7 days-never went away. then he again prescribed me diflucan 150 once for 3 weeks. never went away!!! this is my first yeast infection so i dont know why diflucan will not cure me. i am 22 years old, smoke and drink on the weekends, work out regularly, work nights, recently pretty stressed.

I'm 21 years old and I've had chronic yeast infections (4-6 a year) for about 3 years now. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away.

There r also diet changes that can also help..... I am prone to yeast infections when taking antibiotics, and DIFLUCAN is the only thing that helps. As far as dosage, sorry I can not help...I would suggest asking a Pharmacist as they know meds and interaction and reactions better then most drs.

Thanks for answering me so soon. My doctor started me on diflucan at 150 mg then added nystatin. He later said the diflucan wasn't strong enough. I'm now on 400mg a day. My eyes and lips are so dry. Could this be because of the diflucan? I was worried because it was still here after 6 months. I see you had to stay on it for months. I will see if I can find Yeast Cleanse online. I feel like the yeast and the diflucan are a big part of why I feel so bad.

Day three and already so itchy and painful its ridiculous. Took 150 mg of diflucan yesterday morning...still no relief...how long does it take to work?!?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant my doctor prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel for a bacteria that I have, has anyone else taken this during a pregnancy ? I'm really scared I've read about women who've lost their baby by taking this gel I'm really scared I called my OB and I asked him if its safe for the baby and he said it is but I'm really concerned about this, its my first baby too.
