diflucan

1472764 tn?1287588186 Diflucan is Pregnancy Category C which means it has not been studied in pregnant humans but has caused problems in studies with pregnancy animals. I found the following on women.emedtv.com "When given to pregnant rats or rabbits, Diflucan caused the following problems: Reduced weight gain in the mother Miscarriages Increased weight of the placenta Birth defects, such as cleft palate and head or face abnormalities.
Avatar f tn Absolutely do not use a tampon. That's the worst thing you can do. The Diflucan is actually a pregnancy category C which means risk can't be ruled out. But one dose isn't expected to have any harmful effects.
Avatar f tn i just finished the treatment 2 days ago....and i still have it!!!!! In the past the only thing that worked for me was Diflucan.....is it safe to use at this point in my pregnancy? Or..what should i use??? I'm desperate!!! Please Help!!!! Thank You!!
Avatar f tn Its miserable for sure. But due to them changing the drug category during pregnancy for the pill (diflucan) I dont feel its safe during pregnancy. The category was changed last year to a C for the first dose during pregnancy and then a D for the second dose. What did you do with the coconut oil?
Avatar f tn Pregnancy Category D is a stronger warning than a pregnancy Category C classification. However, a pregnancy Category D medicine may still be given to a pregnant woman if the health care provider believes that the benefits to the woman outweigh the possible risks to the unborn child. Klonopin was given a pregnancy Category D rating due to the problems it caused in animal studies.
Avatar m tn The baby is literally a bundle of cells at this point. I was also worried about meds I had taken before I knew I was pregnant and my doctor told me just that, and not to worry.
Avatar f tn I have had an endoscopy and also a laproscope (endometriosis). I am not ovulating and have a low basal body temp. I have irregular periods. I am now experiencing dizziness which is worse after i eat. my hands shake, my muscles are weak ( i have fibromyalgia but this is different). The headeaches are pretty severe. If i squat down and get up i see black for a minute. I am waiting for my thryoid tests to come back.
Avatar f tn This is easily treated by an over the counter antifungal from the pharmacy. You can get a single dose tablet (Diflucan) or creams and pessaries ie Canesten/monistat. The tablet takes 2 or 3 days to start working so using a cream in the meantime can really help. You can buy a prepackaged tablet and cream set.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your stress and anxiety is probably a mixture of hormones and just the whole experience of pregnancy and anxiety that comes with it. Please stay away from medication until you have your baby. And remember anything you have in your body, will transmit through breast milk. If you have post pardum depression, then definitely take medication (and therapy) if you need it.
Avatar n tn The bleeding was light for the first week and very heavy for the last two weeks. I went to see an OBGYN and she took a simple and blood work...I have very painful and tender womb now still bleeding and awaiting the lab results. Please any advice is greatly appreciated.
1144050 tn?1261292610 Ask your doctor for sure. I just did a search on it and turns out someone had a similar question on this site in 2007: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/Can-Oxycodone-be-taken-during-pregnancy/show/52784 and this was one of the responses: Actually, it's a category C, not B. It is unknown if it is safe or not.
Avatar f tn I have had 4 yeast infections since December, and I got rid of this one. Thank God. And this morning I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. And I have a little bit heavier flow, but still not like normal. If I stick a q-tip up me ( in know not the smartest idea), it comes out really bloody, So I know there is blood up there, it just isn't coming out like normal.
Avatar n tn I am 38 weeks pg., and have had a yeast inf. for about a week and a half...I have taken the Diflucan pill once, a cream (one time application) once, and now the Dr. gave me more Diflucan..... what else can I do???? Should I buy some over the counter monistat and use that too???? It is such a stubborn infection with all these hormones....what the heck do I do at this point??? I am so frustrated. Please help me.
Avatar n tn You really need to consult your dr or even your pharmacist to get accurate information on what meds are safe for you and your baby ahead of time. Some anxiety meds (i.e. Klonopin and Xanax) are category 'D' - not recommended for pregnant women. Good luck!
849762 tn?1288184748 The temps will generally stay in the higher post-o category throughout pregnancy. Other than a few random highs and lows, I don't think it will start to drop at any certain time.
Avatar f tn The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a pregnancy category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C is given to medicines that show side effects to the fetus in animal studies, but no human studies in pregnant women have been done.
298560 tn?1292276903 Corticosteroids have been used during pregnancy, but are classified in pregnancy category C; neonatal adrenal suppression and other adverse effects have been reported. Relaxation exercises and massage may be preferable to medication for treating spasticity during pregnancy, said Dr. Birk. Avatar n tn I took the Diflucan. Day 5 i got my period. What do i do now?? And can i re-fill my Diflucan to take when i am thru with the antibiotic?? And really no tampons?? at all??
Avatar f tn Check with your OB or you can go to the FDA website. They tell you what is safe to take while pregnant and can give you the category it fits in for pregnancy.
Avatar f tn She recommended a gyn doctor that is good with diseases but he is no longer at the hospital she sent me too. I am constantly getting creams and diflucan for the yeast infections. I feel that my gyn is not meeting my need. I do not want to live on the creams and diflucan. I heard about a gyn on the radio that I would like to go to. I will make an appointment with her. I never took diflucan long term. I will get two diflucans at one time.
Avatar f tn I just had a few positive pregnancy tests and I haven't seen a doctor yet. I have awful allergies and i usually take allegra. What allergy meds are safe to use during pregnancy?
454221 tn?1259445739 My understanding is that Prilosec had not been assigned a category for pregnancy by the FDA because its effects during pregnancy are unknown. Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.
