Diflucan and pregnancy risk

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan and pregnancy risk

diflucan

1472764 tn?1287588186 I'm 16 weeks and I'm suffering from a horrible yeast infection. I took 7 days of terazol and 3 days of monistat. Neither helped. Creams usually don't on me. Diflucan is the only thing that works but my dr. said he doesn't prescribe it during pregnancy. I'm so sick of it. I'm miserable. Has anyone ever taken diflucan when they were pregnant? What are the side effects to the baby?
Avatar n tn Monistat 7 is the safest thing to use during pregnancy. I used it in early pregnancy with my 3 girls and there were healthy. if it was me don't use that prescription, just the Monistat. My doctor that I had, now I'm having my 5th baby and they say Monistat is the safest to use and you can even use the cheapest brand, it's all the same.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Nystatin rinse with little or no effect, and Diflucan 200mg first day and 100mg for six following days. All no resolution. I have had three HIV tests August 11, 2008, August 29, 2008 and October 10, 2008 all negative. I did take a course of antibiotics for three weeks in mid-August to early September including Doxycycline. Two questions, is it typical for oral candidiasis to be tough to clear up?
Avatar m tn The baby is literally a bundle of cells at this point. I was also worried about meds I had taken before I knew I was pregnant and my doctor told me just that, and not to worry.
Avatar n tn Thank u! R u guys doctors or nurses ?
Avatar f tn My doctor said Diflucan is not safe during pregnancy and will only prescribe a cream if I get one. There might be mixed opinions, though.
Avatar f tn Yes it's safe after 12 weeks. I am on round 2 of my dose. I am a rare case and I get VERY bad yeast and BV infections which cause bladder retention and usually have to get catherized for a week. I've had a cath 4 times this pregnancy and i'm only 16 weeks! I just took diflucan again yesterday and have another dose I will be taking in 3-5 days if the symptoms are still here. When I'm not pregnant I use oil of oregano orally for yeast.
Avatar n tn The bleeding was light for the first week and very heavy for the last two weeks. I went to see an OBGYN and she took a simple and blood work...I have very painful and tender womb now still bleeding and awaiting the lab results. Please any advice is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have had 4 yeast infections since December, and I got rid of this one. Thank God. And this morning I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. And I have a little bit heavier flow, but still not like normal. If I stick a q-tip up me ( in know not the smartest idea), it comes out really bloody, So I know there is blood up there, it just isn't coming out like normal.
Avatar f tn Absolutely do not use a tampon. That's the worst thing you can do. The Diflucan is actually a pregnancy category C which means risk can't be ruled out. But one dose isn't expected to have any harmful effects.
Avatar n tn I am 38 weeks pg., and have had a yeast inf. for about a week and a half...I have taken the Diflucan pill once, a cream (one time application) once, and now the Dr. gave me more Diflucan..... what else can I do???? Should I buy some over the counter monistat and use that too???? It is such a stubborn infection with all these hormones....what the heck do I do at this point??? I am so frustrated. Please help me.
Avatar n tn I took the Diflucan. Day 5 i got my period. What do i do now?? And can i re-fill my Diflucan to take when i am thru with the antibiotic?? And really no tampons?? at all??
Avatar f tn i just finished the treatment 2 days ago....and i still have it!!!!! In the past the only thing that worked for me was Diflucan.....is it safe to use at this point in my pregnancy? Or..what should i use??? I'm desperate!!! Please Help!!!! Thank You!!
Avatar f tn Hi bacflip, I too have been struggling with yeast for about 9 months. Have seen tons of drs, tried long-term diflucan therapy, boric acid, take probiotics, garlic capsules, various other antifungals, use 100% cotton undies, etc with constant yeast infections. No HIV no diabetes. Mine all started after a weeks worth of antibiotics...I was totally fine before this. Have you experienced any relief and/or figured out what the issue was? If so, what helped?
Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar f tn She recommended a gyn doctor that is good with diseases but he is no longer at the hospital she sent me too. I am constantly getting creams and diflucan for the yeast infections. I feel that my gyn is not meeting my need. I do not want to live on the creams and diflucan. I heard about a gyn on the radio that I would like to go to. I will make an appointment with her. I never took diflucan long term. I will get two diflucans at one time.
1947443 tn?1324480964 I'm not sure how they will treat it during pregnancy. From what I know they usually have to prescribe Diflucan for the yeast and a pain killer like vicodin for the pain. Diflucan isn't preferred during pregnancy, but in your case they may decide the benefits outweigh the risk.
Avatar n tn I am unable to eat much fruit or vegetables with high sugar content. I am currently being treated with Diflucan and Cipro for an existing yeast problem. I am taking Diflucan for 30 days and Cipro for 10 days. This will give me some relief for about three or four months and then I will need to treat the problem again. Questions: Should I change the Diflucan/Cipro time schedule or try different drugs? Any other suggestion would be very much appreciated.
231441 tn?1333892766 "Does anyone know why they apply more stringent standards for diabetes during pregnancy than they do outside pregnancy?" 548642 tn?1266179652 omg i have a yeast infection and its so bothersome!!
Avatar n tn Did a urine test for STDs (chlamydia, gonnehrea) all negative. He prescribed Diflucan and gave me 2 pills. I took the first one and the symptoms got a lot better. Then (my thought is it wasn't fully healed) after sex it returned. So I took another Diflucan, everything seemed cool. Then I got a really bad cold and was prescribed a Z pack. Surprise! Yeast was back. So I went to the doctor and this time they did a "wet mount" turns out I had BV and Yeast together.
Avatar f tn I went to urgent care for treatment and was given diflucan and it didnt put a dent in it, so I went back. I was given more diflucan and it didnt do anything. I waited to see a gynocologist and had a pap smear and STD test, went back for an HPV screen. I was negative for it all and was given diflucan by her as well. I went back to her a second time and she gave me a cream for a yeast infection after admitting she didnt see signs for one and didnt know why I would be burning.
Avatar n tn this is my first pregnancy, and I dont want to take anything to harm the baby. I have had a yeast infection before and my body feel the same way, only this time I dont have the discharge. I also have been told that they are very common in pregnancies. Will you please tell me if I can take a diflucan 150mg?
Avatar f tn I took it and it is commonly given by obstetrics doctors. It is indicated for yeast and not harmful during pregnancy based on research and the package insert. I took it without issue and it worked great. Worth talking to your own doctor about. Most likely they will prescribe it without issue as it is again, given commonly during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn m an almost 40 year old female, who received unprotected cunningulis from a guy about a month ago, as a result from this brief and stupid encounter, about 2 weeks ago I ended up at my gynecologist because I was extremely irritated in my vagina, specially in the opening of it, my clitoris, my labia, I told him what concerns I had, he pretty much calm me down, gave me diflucan for yeast, made culture for clamydia and gonorrea, came back negative, I was worried about herpes, he looked visually sai
Avatar n tn My dr said it's ok for me to use monistat for my yeast infection, I have tried everything else. Just wondering if anyone else has used it during pregnancy. I'm a bit of a worrier.
