Common Questions and Answers about Swollen ankles pitting

swollen

Avatar n tn When you press on it firmly, does it leave a dent? There is a difference between this kind of thing when it leaves a dent (pitting) and when it doesn't (non-pitting). Oedema (edema) can be caused by a salt imbalance, but may signify a dangerous underlying condition. Read about it more here: https://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Anyone have swollen ankles. Where u can press it down with ur finger & it'll actually dent in for a bit? Is that normal??
408795 tn?1324935675 I've been having major problems with swollen ankles over and over. I am on a salt free diet and I eat as healthy as I possibly can. Does anyone else have the symptom of swelling and what do you do about it? My concern is that the area that swells is getting larger. One day last week my legs were swollen all the way up to my knees.
Avatar f tn Im 40 weeks pregnant and have really swollen feet and ankles.
Avatar n tn Excuse me if this is not an appropriate place to post this question. I run. Both my calves are very tight but don't ever hurt. My right leg under the knee is swollen and leaves an imprint if I indent it with my thumb. Running injury? Vascular problem? Don't worry about it?
Avatar f tn My post-RAI instructions say to call immediately if you get swollen ankles. Is that an indication that you would be in a hypo crash? My mother had pitting edema that went away when she stopped taking Lipitor.
Avatar f tn If you have pitting edema- where if you press down on the swollen area the indentation or 'pit' stays you might want to go see your PCP or even go to the ER. Pitting edema can be very serious and differs from regular edema or swelling. Here's a basic definition & pic of pitting edema. There's better information out there; but, especially if this is unusual for you you might want to really consider getting checked out by a MD. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?
Avatar f tn ve had a busy few days where I have been on my feet quite a bit, so my legs, feet and ankles have been pretty swollen, more so than usual(they all pit when I press and stay in for a bit). I have an appointment at 9:45am tomorrow morning, so I'll let my doctor know. Just curious if anyone else has experienced the belly swelling or if they know anything about it? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn it was that painful. My feet were still swollen, but now I noticed that I had pitting edema in both feet and all the veins in my feet were protruding and were purple/red. I was so nervous that I could barely eat for the next week and actually lost 3kg in that time. This lasted all week until I got back to Egypt where I went to the ER and the doctor did all kinds of blood tests (heart, liver, kidney, and an EKG) - all were normal.
Avatar f tn Got discharged from the hospital on Sunday, before seeing my doc Sunday morning I noticed my feet and ankles were swollen pretty bad especially considering ive never had a problems with swelling in my lifeppregnant or not. Avatar f tn My ankles are enormous. The swelling is so bad that when I grab my ankles it leaves an indent of my fingers like memory foam. Is that normal swelling or is it something I should be worried about?
Avatar f tn I had such bad swelling that it was up into my abdomen(pitting edema)... there was no definition to my feet or ankles i just had a "fold" where my foot went ot my ankle... i had no feeling left in my hands for a long time... it was bad, in the one week i gained 10 lbs! there really isnt much you can do, put your feet up whenever possible, continue to take walks to keep your circulation going... drink lots of water, none of this helped me... only weeks after delivery did it go away...
Avatar f tn How do you deal with edema? I have swollen ankles that won't respond to anything. Even Lasix prescription is not helping. Compression socks and elevating legs help only minimally. Any tips or suggestions? What's worked best for you? Please help!
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 19 years old and a normal weight. For the past year and a half I have been experiencing swollen legs and stomach bloating. The leg swelling primarily affects my calves, and somewhat my thighs, but it doesn't extend to my ankles or feet. It is non-pitting and gets worse as the day goes on. I usually wake up with my calves back to normal size, but they progressively swell throughout the day, with them at their worst at night.
Avatar f tn My ankles and feet are swollen, but my right ones are twice as swollen as my left and I can leave a huge indentation that lasts a couple of minutes. I read online that this could mean pre-e? I'm 38 weeks and seriously wondering if I would call my doc??? Please help!!
10221785 tn?1410990458 Other signs and symptoms are pitting adema in the ankles, hands, or face, (if you press a finger into the swollen tissue and the imprint doesnt pop right back out, that is pitting adema) dizziness, blurred vision, floaters in the vision, upper abdominal pain, confusion and you can be checked for high blood pressure, and protein in the urine.
446474 tn?1446347682 Anyone out there who has experienced swollen ankles and feet while taking Pegasys and Copegus? They started getting swollen about a week ago. I haven't seen it in the literature. C ould it be caused by my cirrhosis? My docs said that I may be on of the few people whose liver is made worst by the treatment for my Hep C. My liver being too far-gone to handle the treatment.
Avatar f tn I have the same problem my calves feet and ankles are swollen for at least the last couple months and im 37 weeks monday
Avatar f tn Additionally, I am having (and have been for about two years) edema in my ankles and legs on a daily basis. It sometimes will have pitting and other times not. My PCP put me on Lasix (20mg), which helps sometimes and other times, it doesn't. I try to run a few times per week to help with the swelling and it will help a very tiny bit. So, I went to a new Endo this week and he drew tons of blood. Here is what was found: TSH 0.95 (range: 0.40-4.50) T4 8.3 (range: 4.5-12.
Avatar f tn My mother was put on Seroquel and she too has pitting edema of both of her feet and ankles (more on the right than the left). She's been checked out for blood clots and heart problems but everything is ok. Her psych doctor said it was probably the Seroquel. (IS Saphris a good substitute?). My mother takes Seroquel for dementia.
Avatar f tn i am 27 years old five foot five and 254 pounds my husband and i just moved from another state so ive been on my feet a lot. could that be the cause of my ankle having pitting edema?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with jra since age of 5 i am currently experiencing a great deal of pitting edema especially in my ankles and the back of my legs, my calf muscle is extremely sore on both legs. I am taking atenanol 50mgs at night for high blood pressure as well as cymbalta and I am really concerned with my legs swelling even when I am not standing when I put my finger in my foot it leaves an impression for a long time any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Im 17 weeks pregnant and my feet are swollen...is this normal at this stage?
Avatar f tn The fluid is predominantly in my left leg with just a little in the right. You can press dents in my ankles and chins. My calves are tight quite often to the point they ache when I walk. Some days are worse than others. I finally decided to visit a doctor yesterday and all she did was some blood work to determine if it was due to a thyroid problem or diabetes. The lab work came back perfectly normal.
Avatar f tn I've been having really bad pitting Edema in my legs/ankles/feet that keep getting worse. Its gotten so bad I have a hard time bending over, doing ANY activity and I keep falling (its also painful).
38309 tn?1270890103 Good Morning! I've posted questions about this topic a couple of times over the past few years... I have coronary microvascular disease with right-sided enlargement/systolic dysfunction. My entire heart leaks, which I think is a sign that my heart is progressively enlarging. My echo revealed Aortic Regurgitation in 2003. Each year another valve starts leaking. BTW, is Tricuspid Regurgitation—the largest leak—always benign? What is the significance of Pulmonary Regurgitation?
Avatar f tn I also have pains in my legs when I walk. My legs hurt so bad I can ot walk too long, and my legs get swollen in the ankles. My doctor does not know what is wrong. I was tested for rhrumatoid arthritis, and had some low positive ANA and SSA tests, but the doctor didn't think it was lupus. I am wondering if I could have an infection or virus...???
