I also noticed both of my ankles (around the bone) was a little swollen when I got home. Today they are not as bad. I was wondering if swollen joints can be a symptom of lyme..I haven't heard much about it. I was also a little dizzy and slightly "out of it" that night. I must have walked a good 5 miles and my calfs were tight when I woke up this morning. I got a little sunburn on my legs and those areas tingled more than usual. Strange stuff!

I had a similar concern regarding swelling (edema) of the feet and ankles noticed after a sunburn-filled vacation overseas and thought I might add my non-medical professional two cents as a 40 year old with no known allergies. I had experienced this type of swelling once previously after a long flight where lack of movement seemed to cause blood/fluid collection under low air pressure to build up in both legs and feet.

My ankles are so swollen that they're about 3 times as wide as the widest part of my feet. My legs are also severely swollen and hard.

Did you ever figure out what the issue is? I also have swollen ankles, feet, and lower legs too. My doctor is sending me to neurology. It's so bad sometimes I can't walk well and I pull muscles/tendons. It can also be very painful. I don't have the red splotches or numb spots that you describe. Like you, I watch my sodium, don't sit or stand for too long, and have had all the blood tests I should.

hello, my girlfriend got sunburn 4 days ago and wokeup the next day with swollen feet and ankles. we have tryed everything to get them down but nothing is working. we hae tryed putting them in cold water, sitting with a wet towel on them, moisterising, flamma spray for sunburn, but nothing works.she is in alot of pain when she trys to walk. she's 22 years old and normally when she gets out of a hot bath her feet go black and blue could this have anything to do with it???

I ended up with deep second degree sunburns from mid thigh all the way down and onto my feet. My feet were so swollen I had to go barefoot and my ankles were 3 times there normal size. I had huge blisters and could not walk at all for a while. When all the blood rushed to my legs it hurt so bad. What is this and why did this happen? I've never had these problems with other more minor sunburns. My feet were so swollen and sometimes still swell later in the afternoon.

I have a bad sunburn on both my legs with my ankles swelling and skin is really tight. I am hardly able to walk or stand without pain and can barely stretch my legs due to the skin tightness. I have used aloe with methanol, over the counter burn cream and 100% aloe. I also have been taking cold showers and trying to drink a little more water. It is only the second day after my sunburn. 17 weeks pregnant and I'm having swollen ankles. In the mornings they are normal,but by the evening they are a little swollen. Just wonder if that's normal this soon in my pregnancy.

Have stopped drinking altogether for over a week now, but noticed that one of my ankles were a bit swollen yesterday, in an area where I got a sunburn on weekend...constant back pain, but massage therapist claimed I had knots on back muscles, but still just doesn't feel right...im on keppra for seizures, but otherwise healthy...run everyday, do ab exercises for 20 mins on weekdays (leg lifts), not overweight, don't eat crap, most veg/fruits...going for another blood test in 2 weeks....

My feet, ankles and lower legs tend to swell most days, especially if I'm up on my feet all day (at work for example). But the doctor isn't concerned. I puff up all day and piddle all night. Perhaps it's just my old blood vessels aren't working as well as they used to. Don't have varicose veins so who knows? I follow a low sodium diet just because it's the smart thing to do. Also learned more about it when my Dad was diagnosed with heart failure. Wanted to support him.
