Avatar m tn Certain foods, including walnuts, can interfere with the absorption of Synthroid, as well at other replacement thyroid hormones, such as Levothyroxine, Levoxyl, etc. The recommendation is to separate these foods from the medication by 2-4 hrs. Of course, it would depend on how many walnuts one is eating, but if there's proper separation there shouldn't be any trouble with absorption. Most medication pamphlets don't have some of these specific cautions on them.
Avatar n tn Not that those two foods are related. I happen to love walnuts, and I have no food sensitivities, but I do notice that walnuts have sort of an acrid "bite" to them after you eat a lot. You could have more of a sensitivity than allergy. Good to get checked out just in case allergies are developing, though. Dinosaur I recently started this medication (100 mcg). I take it about 6:00 each morning and wait about an hour before having anything else. I have 3 questions: 1. Directions say to take with 8 oz water. I did not notice these instructions at first, so I have not had quite that much water every time. How critical is that? 2. Directions regarding calcium and other supplements is very confusing.
Avatar f tn Hello all. I'm looking for a little insight. To begin with, I am 23 years old and in pretty good health, if I do say so myself. I have never been allergic to anything in my life, with the exception of Prozac (which gave me hives on my elbows/knees).
Avatar f tn When eating away from home, you must now be very aware of what is in your foods. Be careful about which oils your salad dressings are made from. Some foods may not contain actual nut ingredients, but they are made on equipment that has processed nuts. You should definitely have a thorough discussion with your doctor, so you'll know what else you need to be aware of. From your list of symptoms, I can see that your reactions are worse than mine.
