1185546 tn?1264310043 Hi, I have been vegan for a year now, and I have been getting really dizzy lately. It happens multiple times a day, usually when I am hungry, but sometimes doesn't help if I eat. I was thinking it was low iron, could this be? It has been getting progressively worse with each passing day. I bought a good iron supplement today, and took one, but I am still dizzy. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Google calcium rich foods ! Not everyone eats dairy. Google vegan diet maybe.
Avatar f tn That said it can be a very healthy diet if you choose natural products and are prepared to cook. My daughter is vegan and I regularly eat vegan meals, especially when trying to loose weight. That's because I can have a large meal that is filling by making something like a vegetable stew, lentil bolognaise or vege chilli. Try initially making a commitment to being a meat and dairy reducer, that's what I consider myself to be. Have 3-5 days meat free or make breakfasts and lunches vegan.
Avatar n tn Could anyone advise me which foods to consume more of and which to limit in order to receive maximum results through a vegan lifestyle?
8182713 tn?1419265366 You can have lunch meat. But it needs to be heated. The reason is that lunch meat are prone to having listeria in it. It's a bacteria that could pass through the placenta and could be bad for baby. Normal people would have no problems with it as their body can fight it off. But drs recommend pregnant women to limit lunch meat or heat it up which could kill the bacteria.
1100297 tn?1293079117 I have read almost every article I can get my hands on pertaining to this topic. I absolutly love it and am excited to try it. Its a lifestyle, not a diet. You cant just eat that way, loose weight, then go back to eating the way you were... you have to make it a lifestyle. Iv read about "dead foods". These are foods like bread, grains, dairy, meat, and pastas... anything man-made. Natural foods are those that we can grow in the ground.
Avatar n tn I am 34 and have always been overweight. I work out, eat a vegan/ vegaterian diet, also I'm active. My heavest was 232, and I currently weigh 198. I am 4wk3days pregnant with my first. I'm worried about gaining weight. I tried so hard to lose what I have lost and I'm still considered obesed. All the preggo pics I see are of a healthy weight female. How will I look as I get thru the trimesters. FYI: I am not dieting, not on any pills and will not put the health of my baby at risk.
Avatar f tn listen to your body! The idea of vegan and raw foods is very nice, but like I said not for everybody. Is it for you? you'll have to work that out.
9990306 tn?1407113138 ve been a vegan for a year now (I was a vegetarian for eight years before coming vegan). I am going to be a vegan for the rest of my life. Anyway, I got a little off topic. I appreciate your answer so much! Thank you, it really means a lot!
Avatar f tn i am also vegan, and there are ways to raise a healthy vegan child. first and most important, BREAST FEED. breast milk is made to provide infants with all the nutrition they need. if you are unable to produce enough breast milk, there is soy infant formula available (not regular soy milk, that does not provide all the nutrients the infant needs). as an infant/toddler moving on from breast milk or formula, the first foods to be introduced are rice cereals, then vegetables and fruits.
Avatar f tn I have been on the vegan diet for a month now. Recently I have noticed ttat occasionally I get real shaky, lightheaded between meals.
Avatar m tn It has amazing benefits and a lot of antioxidants. This combined with other “super foods” can really be good for you. Obviously try to quit smoking, but I think incorporating green tea is a great idea. It has made me feel so much better. On top of actually being very good for you. And as the post stated above, go for organic. Might cost a few extra cents, but it’s worth it.
Avatar n tn The other information about what amounts to vegan recipes is a great idea. And, I know where you can find some of these vegan recipes that are normal foods. There is a great website called care2.com. Just go to healthy living and search the recipes. You can specify vegan recipes. The majority of their recipes are vegetarian, but if you take it one step further and go for the vegan recipes, you'll be able to avoid the dairy and the eggs.
Avatar n tn Can someone please tell me why my legs are unbearably itchy after they get wet. If I shave them it feels like thousands of bees are stinging my legs. I don't get any red spots or bumps. I do not have dry legs. It is 100% not my skin care products because just plain water drives them crazy. It's not my own water because it happens everywhere even if my legs are just sweaty they itch. The itching lasts about 30-40 mins but happens multiple times a day.
Avatar m tn Hello. I am 48 about 250 pounds ( lost 12 pounds recently) and no health insurance. For the past several weeks I have been super bloated, I might use the bathroom once a day if I'm lucky. I just recently quit drinking and smoking ( 3 days ago ) and I hit them hard for the past 4 years. My feet and hands are numb, my wounds don't heel. I have open cracks in my heels.
Avatar m tn On the day you start this colon therapy, you must also start eating a vegan diet consisting of only whole, natural, foods. No white flour, no white sugar, no processed, packaged, or junk food. No meat (except fish) and no dairy. After the second colonic you would start taking a really good probiotic called Primal Defense Ultra by Garden of Life. Get the capsules. It's the best on the market. And you would start douching with this probiotic as well.
Avatar n tn s only found in animal products including dairy and eggs which many vegetarians eat. Vegan foods (the milk and dairy alternatives) are generally fortified with b12 so it's not an issue these days as it used to be. Regarding conceiving, I strongly recommend you stay vegetarian and possibly cut out dairy during this time. Most animal products have vast amounts of hormones in them that are pumped into the animals. These can interfere with our own hormones if we are very sensitive.
Avatar f tn The info you find will help convince you to stay away from those foods. Finding Healthy alternatives for the foods you crave is also helpful. I crave cookies a lit but I found this great vegan cookie recipe online and it fulfills my craving without the regret.
Avatar f tn Also try 6 small meals instead of 3 big ones like a 5 course meal spaced out taste better then a 3 close together this is because your body has time to digest the food that you put into it. Also eat more filling foods so u wont feel hungry later on thus eating more.
Avatar f tn I was vegan for almost ten years. I had perfect health. I was thirty when I first had symptoms of UC. I had just two months prior given birth to my son and had stopped being vegan during my pregnancy. I also received the MMR vaccinate at the hospital after giving birth. I read that a British study in 1998 (I think) linked UC to the MMR. Both my gastros insist that none of these factors are likely to have anything to due with my disease.
Avatar f tn You might consider becoming a vegan now ( I would). A vegan is someone who eats no meat of any kind (incl. no poultry and fish) or dairy. Stay away from greasy fried foods too. Eat only whole, natural plant foods like whole wheat bread, whole wheat noodles, brown rice, oatmeal, vegetables, fruits, beans, etc. Find a book on being a vegan. Also, I would take a digestive enzyme if I were you. The best one I know of is called, "Omega-Zyme" by Garden of Life.
Avatar f tn m just a bit concerned as well. I think my diet has something to do it with possibly, I am vegan (for over a year now), and a rather unhealthy vegan. I barely eat at all, maybe a bowl of pasta a day. I don't take vitamins or any type of supplements for my health. I was just wondering if anyone thinks this would be a contributing factor? or what could cause my period to be like this? Any feedback would be great! Thanks.
