Avatar f tn There is, however, the possibility that your intestines are reacting to one or more other foods or spices, commonly used in the preparation foods or recipes that also call for the use of garlic. Bloody diarrhea is a worrisome sign and needs to be fully investigated, regardless of whether it is or is not associated with the ingestion of garlic. There are many causes of bloody diarrhea, none of which should be ignored.

Avatar n tn I have just started compiling a list of all the foods that bother me, and I happened upon this thread. I'm so glad I found it. I went to the allergist 10 years ago and was told that it was all in my head. I went back last week, to a different allergist, who did skin testing and told me that everything was negative, and not to worry. I KNOW that I'm reacting to foods. I KNOW that I'm not imagining it.
Avatar m tn I just wanted everybody to know that I had a bad toxic bile problem. I had been using Kyolic organic garlic, in the pill for years, with no help. After one week of raw garlic, the problem was alleviated. I was suppost to have died eight years ago, I have hep-c. I have found out the more raw I go, the better I get.
931246 tn?1297902651 //www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/garlic/ Possibly the reason there were not ill effects in the show cats treated with fermented garlic was that it was fermented. (You would buy it in a jar.) Pickling does a lot of chemical change to foods. But given the assertions in the link I gave you above, it might not be worth the risk, even if you can find fermented garlic.

Avatar m tn ve been able to pinpoint with any level of precision is sensitivity to garlic. Could garlic potentially be the culprit? Its hard to know for sure because I'm finding it very hard to eliminate garlic from my diet. I'll think I'm eating garlic free, but then I'll take a closer look at the ingredients on a product that I'm using and I'll notice it there. Or, I'll see "and other spices" listed, which presumably could include garlic.

Avatar f tn The foods that usually cause such things are foods highly acidic (pasta sauce, coffee, tea), dairy products, garlic, spicy foods, gluten. All these foods have a habit of irritating the stomach. try to avoid them and see if that helps. If not, go to the pharmacy and pick up some nexium and see if that helps.
1763947 tn?1334055319 I have also bought those empty gelatin capsules in the vitamin section of Whole Foods, and I think pharmacies have them too. A bag of 250 capsules cost $12.99 at Whole Foods, probably can get them cheaper elsewhere. I first used them when I had a bad systemic yeast infection and was taking raw garlic (!!!), which burns going down unless it's in a capsule.
Avatar n tn My son is 4 and has tested allergic to garlic, among other foods, including nuts, eggs, and seeds. Garlic is by far the most difficult food to avoid. He has never had garlic so I don't know what his reaction would be. From your post, you appear to know about garlic allergies. We have seen a number of different allergists, and they have not been able to shed light on what is specifically causing the allergy and whether we should do a food challenge.
Avatar m tn What happened to make your GERD/LPR subside? Perhaps PPI's, raising the head of your bed? Obviously eliminating 'trigger foods'. You might mix in garlic, onions, etc. a little at a time, one food item at a time, keep a log and see what works and what doesn't work. A discussion with a diet expert might help. Most larger hospitals have free or inexpensive workshops to discuss just your type of question, as do most larger medical clinics.
Avatar n tn The more garlic you eat, the more you will smell like garlic. Sadly, this is the condition that you sign up for when you eat garlic. I would first try to shower more frequently after you've had garlic and make your hygiene is good. Other than that, just make sure your mom also eats garlic when you do, and she probably won't smell it. If she's the only one noticing it, it might just be her imagination or overactive nose.
