suboxone

1481358 tn?1288295091 So i dont understand how doctors over there are promoting suboxone as non addictive and withdrawal free. I think common sense needs to prevail and for all those people who fell for that line, somewhere a village is missing their idiot. Buprenorphine in the form of Temgesic tablets and injections have been successfully employed here and in many European countries for the express purpose of treating pain for 30 years plus.
Avatar m tn Suboxone is a very stong opiate and unfortunately it must be tapered down to about .5mg to avoid severe withdrawal. I too tried to jump off once at 2 mg and experienced withdrawal much more severe than my original drug of choice. Also, since the half life for suboxone is 37.5 hours, it typically takes over 24 hours for the first sign of withdrawal to even kick in. How long has it been since you took your last dose? If it's been a few days, try cutting your 2mg dose in half.
Avatar f tn I would have never thought after six weeks you could still feel like day one of withdrawal. So my other question is how is Suboxone withdrawal compared to methadone withdrawal.
422795 tn?1293301409 Each day after got a better and better.. NO WAY near the withdrawal of pain pills. Taking the Suboxone was the best choice I could have made for myself. A year ago today I was still taking pain pills to get through the day. Now, not only am I off the pain pills, but off the suboxone also.
Avatar n tn 4mg is a very large amount to jump from. Those who have had the best successful stories concerning suboxone withdrawal ultimately got down to tiny crumbs or slivers of suboxone before quitting.. Unfortunately long term suboxone users have no way to do this pain free. There will be withdrawal. Everyone's story is differnt but the good stories I have heard are from those who went down to teeeny tiny amounts.
1253584 tn?1332877954 I'd like hear of succesful stories of people who have tappered off suboxone and what mg did u start noticing wd symptoms? Iv tappered from 12 mgs to 8mgs within the last month but b4 that I was on methadone for almost 2 yrs and tappered from 90mgs to 20mgs then Went on suboxone. I'd like to hear positive stories they kinda give me hope and motivate me..
Avatar f tn Please do your research. Most people who have been through Suboxone/Subutex treatment say they wish they never did it. The withdrawals are longer, meaner, and just more taxing on the body. You are just substituting one opiate (your drug of choice) for a much stronger opiate that has a crazy-long half life that binds to receptors so strongly, that withdrawals usually take months until you are feeling back to close to normal. IMO - not worth it.
Avatar f tn s appointment, when I was feeling so good after only 2 days of not having any Suboxone. Well duh I was feeling good, withdrawal doesn't hit until day 3, and right now I am in Hell. I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
Avatar f tn I thought SUBOXONE would releive the withdrawal though. Please read up on it, go to google and type in 'Ultram addiction" and you will find hundreds of stories, you can probably type in this forum as well. I was taking it too but was addicted to percs and LTs and used the Ultram to reduce withdrawal with them. I took them for about 1 1/2 years, started Suboxone 3 days ago and feel pretty darn good today.
Avatar f tn i recently took oxycontin for a little over six months i wanted to quit so i got some suboxone and i think i made a mistake or did it wrong...i took suboxone for 6 days and that was only 8 mg for that whole six days(just one) just a little bit and i feel like im not getting better..i have been off the suboxone for 6 days now and i still cant sleep, eat,my back hurts, and i have no energy.can anyone tell me when im gonna be ok again.....
Avatar f tn I knew a young man who took about 15 a day and went to a local doctor here in Birmingham, Alabama and the doctor put him on Suboxone and it worked for him, but now after I've read all the good and bad about Suboxone I'm wondering what to do. I read about a medicine that is said to be better called Buprenorphine and was wondering if anyone could give me some information on this.
Avatar m tn Hey, glad you found a good doctor. I usually don't suggest subs, but I think they will work for you. I, like you, tried everything to get clean. I was on street methadone and the withdrawal was so long, I just couldn't get out. I read all the sub horror stories and was scared. I decided I didn't have any choice. I took subs for a total of 20 days. The first 5 days I took a dose to stabilize and get my aftercare program in place.
Avatar f tn Suboxone withdrawal is just as bad as opiate withdrawal and like hope4good said make some calls there are usually plenty of free clinic type places you can register for you just have to find the right one because sometimes they're full and have to wait for a bed to open up,good luck.
1462755 tn?1286048715 As you stated, you will suffer withdrawal from the Suboxone eventually and it is far worse than the opiate withdrawal you are suffering now. If you are still going to go on the program, please do research about it, for one, and take that time to get your life together .. get therapy .. find a support group ... so when you decide to come off of the Suboxone at least you may be better prepared. It is quiet this time of the day but stick around and listen to the members here.
1800740 tn?1324237171 My suboxone doctor has me on a fairly slow taper. I am at 2 mgs now and he wants me to jump off completely around Christmas. Since I was on a low dose of methadone (30 mgs. per day) before I went to suboxone, he seems to think it will be quite easy for me. In December, I will have been on suboxone for a year. Meanwhile, I'm reading horror stories about suboxone withdrawal. Do you think I will have an easy time during wds?
Avatar f tn So I checked into a hospital program for detox and a 2 week rehab stay and it was the best decision I have ever made. I was given meds to ease the withdrawal symptoms and suboxone was one of them. I owe my sobriety to suboxone...truly. I have heard horror stories about stopping subs but I had very few issues when I cut them off. This is just my experience but if anyone ever asks about this med I am all for it. Don't let horror stories scare you away...
Avatar f tn Sometimes it seems pathetic the tiny amounts you must reduce by,but remember, buprenorphine is prescribed in micrograms for pain relief and its not designed to be tapered. Most of the suboxone horror stories you read are from people jumping off 1 and 2mg.Suboxone is the better of two evils in my opinion. When i come off subutex i wasnt right and they put me back on it except this time it was suboxone they put me on and i felt terrible.
Avatar f tn I suffered some pretty severe withdrawal. I was on suboxone for 2 1/2 years. And Yes, I too hated the little orange demons I grew to rely on so badly. But HAPPILY, VERY HAPPILY I can report that I took my last suboxone on 9/2/08 and am feeling GREAT. Physically and mentally. I havent felt this good in a many many years. SO there is life after suboxone. Talk to your doc about a proper taper and get yourself ready. When the time is right, you can quit.
Avatar m tn This is my first week here and getting tremendous amount of support, reason why I've chosen to finally come off the Oxy on June 13th.. Question: I'm curious about the withdrawal from Oxy compared to all the other Opiates, are they similar to Tramadol, Vic/hydro, etc. withdrawals. Reason why I'm asking, I hear a lot of interesting withdrawal stories from this group of drugs here on MedHelp but not from Oxy..
14496752 tn?1434842374 Welcome to medhelp while I cannot offer advice on the methadone, I can offer you support for wanting to get clear and free of the drug that has taken over your life. Just from reading here and from friends experience subs can be just as addicting, I agree with above that weaning methadone sounds beneficial. Have u checked with another med professional for their opinion?
434196 tn?1206385870 Has anyone gotten off suboxone without terrible withdrawals? I have been on for over three months and reading everyones post about suboxone is really freaking me out. From what my doctor says, if you wean down slow enough there should be little to no withdrawals.
Avatar m tn Realize that opioid dependence is a lifelong condition for the vast majority of people. My opinion is just that-- my opinion-- but it is based on my own 20 years as a recovering opioid addict, and my experience treating several hundred people with buprenorphine over the past 6 years. I see many people who follow a certain pattern-- they are addicted to opioids and lose everything, then they go on buprenorphine and get their lives back....
14628092 tn?1437549117 Using SUBOXONE to detox, rather than replacement therapy addresses many of the concerns I expressed about SUBOXONE. I've read many success stories using SUBOXONE in this manner. I think if your combine this with some sort of therapy / aftercare you should be able to change your life. Good luck with your journey.
