Famotidine is useful in promoting the healing of stomach and duodenal ulcers and in reducing ulcer pain. 2107861 tn?1346470646 There are other long-acting medications that may not cause trouble with your stomach. Do you take anything like Prilosec? I thought my stomach was okay for years ... until it wasn't. The Prilosec has helped me tremendously. The patch (I'm assuming you're talking about the Fentanyl patch?) works well for pain but again, do your own research. I didn't care for it as if I stopped moving for a few seconds, I'd nod off ... not good when you have kids.
Avatar f tn o I've been dealing with the worst stomach pain, I wasn't able to eat, sleep, or even do anything. I went to the doctors and they put me on medication for ulcers. They sent me to another doctor to give me a ultra sound but ended up not taking the tests because I said I was feeling better with the medication I'm on already so they saw no point because I'm already on medications for ulcers so the test really wouldn't have done anything but just tell us what they know already.
Avatar m tn The most common side effects with either of these is stomach upset or pain. If either occurs, discontinue and consult your doctor. After you've taken the full course of your antibiotics, presuming you are able and have no deterring side effects, it is wise to take a weeks worth of a probiotic supplement (like yogurt, but in pill form) that is enteric coated so to survive your stomach acid. That will put your digestion and body back in balance. Good luck.

It gets better with over the counter antacids. Stomach flu can cause indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Viral gastroenteritis can lead to nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Avatar f tn last week because for two weeks I had horrible pit stomach pains (dbl over pain), and the belching was horrendous, especially at night. The doctor (I was still belching in his office) listened to my stomach and told me it was acid reflux, bad case apparently. The only time I felt well was when I would not eat anything, not even drink water...lost 2 lbs ...not good. I was already taking prilosec for two weeks (1 x day), before seeing him.

Avatar f tn Are you taking the medication with plenty of water and/or food? This medication can be harsh on the stomach and can cause gastric upset. I would hold off on taking them and see what happens. If the stomach issue doesn't resolve, I would definitely consult your physician.
Avatar n tn It is medication used to treat the likes of acid in the stomach. Shall we call it a Gastro med. If you had ulcers or any other sort of stomach issues it may be given to you to help with the problems.
Avatar f tn Okay, today I am 27 weeks, but all weekend I have been having strange stomach pains. It feels like a needle stabbing or cramping in my upper abdomin, almost like when you don't eat for a long period of time so your stomach starts to hurt... I've also noticed with this pain the baby has been kicking me less and I am really concerned. I left a message with my Dr but no call back yet. Is this serious enough I should go to the dr right away?? I am a ftm and the pain has gotten worse today.

Avatar n tn When I was in the hospital the only pain medication that worked for me was morphine and it was through an IV. In fact, it worked so well I was asleep most of my stay, which I really could not stand. I am just really confused, since I have never taken any drugs or street drugs for that matter, so am confused as to why they don't work for me?

Avatar f tn I have had stomach pain for the last few years. In the last year it has gotten worse and in the last six months even worse. It is now to the point that it is effecting my daily life. I have some acid reflux, sharp or consistent dull pain on the right side right under my rib cage, I am nauseated a lot of the time. I have thrown up a few times in the night and I want to throw up a lot. I have a lot of gas pressure in my lower abdominal area and sometimes it hurts too bad to stand up straight.
Avatar n tn I began having severe upper thigh pain in my left leg within days of starting Metformin which subsided when I stopped the medication, and started again when I resumed. Pain to the point of using crutches where I have NO pain otherwise. Yet, the doctors are saying this pain is not a side effect of Metformin. I want this medication to work. Have you heard of such side effects? Also, I take my Synthriod at night before bed. Is this advisable or is there a "prime time" to take it?
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy two weeks ago and the GI Dr found severe inflammation in my esophagus and stomach and short segment Barrett's. I was prescribed Pantoprazole and in the last few days I have developed bladder pain and urgency. No burning during urination. I know this is not a UTI because I've had several in my life. The only time this kind of pain has happened is when I've been on another med that had this side effect. I'm also so very tired and weak.
1274661 tn?1301868321 s this awful burning, gnawing stomach pain now. I think pain, stress and excedrin are big triggers. I do take citrucel to keep things moving. I really doubt I'll try this new med, I don't need any more problems.
Avatar n tn Where in the "stomach" is the pain located (upper left abdomen, upper right abdomen, around the belly button, lower...)? Anxiety and medication for it can cause a number of effects on your GI system. Where the pain is may help define what the issue might be.
Avatar m tn For the last six months I have been having this burning, crampy pain in my stomach. It makes me feel like I want to vomit and belch. But mostly, it is a real bad burning pain. This all started after I was exposed to my mother in law who has H.Pylori. Then, I started having a couple of drinks two nights a week ( either a couple of beers or a couple of Strawberry daiquiris). My stomach has always been very weak and bothersome to me anyhow.
4975205 tn?1361974347 Also, sometimes combining an opioid with another group of drugs (with the drugs taken at different timings) helps give better pain relief. Patches with pain medication are also available for round the clock pain relief. However, the best treatment option for you needs to be discussed with your doctor. Take care!
