Common Questions and Answers about Stomach pain in a dog

stomach-pain

Avatar m tn With you mentioning the 90lb dog I would be getting this checked out just in case. No matter what, stomach pain is not something to mess with. Go see doctor and go see doctor again if you already have.
Avatar f tn As long as baby is still moving around and ur not in pain I would think your ok but a call to ur dr wouldnt hurt he/she may want to check u out to be safe
Avatar m tn Our 11 year-old dog has a distended abdomen but is not in pain and is herself except for being a little less energetic and interactive than usual. Our vet (on the basis of a physical exam) thinks the probable cause is a malignancy, which would require surgery. Because we do not have the means or the inclination to put her through surgery, we have not had further diagnostic work done.
Avatar f tn She was the Fourth Dalmatian I has, the first I got as a puppy in 1971. Only yesterday I moved a drinking glass from the edge of a coffee table in my daughter's house so the spotty tail wouldn't knock it over, then felt that awful surge realising that tail would never wag again! I feel so damn guilty as I asked the vet to put her to sleep. She was crying with every breath and has refused even ham. I was convinced she was in pain and did what I thought was best.
Avatar f tn Her anal smells like fish. We took her to the vet and they said she had to much gas in her stomach. They gave her reglan for motility. It helps a little but makes her tremble and anxious. It also seemed to make her even more constipated. We give her small amounts of benadrly for pain because she is so sensitive to pain meds. Could that be causing gas?
Avatar n tn My dog Baylea's stomach has increased in size tremendously. Like she is pregnant. But we know she is not or can not be because she is kept from out male dog. Her breathing is heavy and her gums are whiteish pink. She is still having bowel movements but not large ones. She is 5 years old and is positive for heartworms. What can I do?
3185867 tn?1348434443 I wokt up this morning SICK AS A DOG! Headache. Sick to my stomach. Running fever. And the pain in my back is severe! HELP please!
1321692 tn?1304298071 If both dogs vomited the same day, it makes me wonder if they ate something they shouldn't have, maybe something they got ahold of in the back yard. I also think there are contagious "stomach bugs,' for lack of a better term, that go around in the dog population. My vet thinks that a lot of the self-limiting episodes of GI distress that dogs have are caused by corona-type viruses.
Avatar n tn If she is a Big dog which I suspect she is being a pit bull, try giving her 1-2 Tablespoon 4 times a day. Only give the 2 Tablespoons if she is greater than 100 pounds. In case you are not aware Pepto Bismo will turn her stool and possibly her vomit black, so do not be alarmed thinking it is old blood.
Avatar f tn We recently moved about 8 weeks ago and she was experiencing some diarrhea so we played with her food a bit giving her an alternate hard dog food (she normally eats SD). This really did nothing so I tried giving her some pumpkin purée with her hard food (back on SD). Diarreaha seems to be gone but her tummy seems swollen and getting bigger, just in the last week or so. She has no other symptoms, eating normal, sleeping normal, no vomiting, no labored breathing.
Avatar m tn My 11 year old Golden Retriever/Lab stopped eating. I found her in a pool of fluid...she became weak. I took her to her vet who found her red and white blood cells, also platelets to be low. There was fluid in her abdomen. He said her stomach felt full although she had eaten very little in a week or more. The vet put her on IV....her blood got a little better and she ate for him some. After 4 days I brought her home with Predisone and Furosemide.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately in large breeds arthritis and hip displaysia are very common especially one the dog reaches about 7 or 8 years old. Most likely your vet will take some xrays to see if there is any arthritis or hip displaysia. Most of the time with pain management and simple lifestyle changes, dogs can continue living a healthy life. Wishing you and your dog all the best!
Avatar f tn No worries, the dog probably just startled baby. I would get startled too if a dog stepped in my domain.
Avatar f tn Yeah we have been giving him pain relief, but the pain has clearly got a lot worse. They've done a stomach scan and it all seems fine. There are no problems with any of his other organs, except they're saying now it could be a neurological issue, but why would that cause his stomach to swell? I'm really hoping there isn't a problem with the brain of course. They will be doing another blood test tomorrow specifically for distemper.
Avatar n tn On NO account treat your dog with any of the herbs I mentioned in that other post, without fully checking with a vet first, and that would have to be a vet who knows about herbal treatment of dogs. As Ghilly said, many products and remedies which are fine for Humans, can be poisonous for dogs, or indeed any other animal, as their whole systems are different to ours. That includes Herbal remedies. Some are fine, some are not. Only a qualified Herbal Vet would know.
Avatar f tn My dog (a 60 pound pitbull) has done this to me accidently a few times. Trust me your fine as long as you are not having any cramping or bleeding. The doctor told me the baby is so protected in there that hes fine.
Avatar f tn So a couple hours ago my boyfriends dog jumped on and back off of my stomach. He weighs about 50 pounds. And i kinda hurt. Then after i felt a suuuperr sharp pain and haven't felt her kick in a couple hours. Im 21 and something days. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Oh, been there! What kind of dog and is she in a crate? Is she loose in the car or can you at least confine her to an area? If you have a trip planned, don't feed her at all or very much. You can try giving a couple of Ginger Snap cookies about an hour or so before you go. Ginger helps settle the stomach. U.S. she used to the car? This could be a combination of upset stomach and nerves. Have you tried conditioning her to the car by just making short, frequent trips around town.
Avatar f tn Im in my 7th month and my dog pounces on my tummy a lot. Theres waaaay more protection than you think in there. Unless there is SERIOUS force or SERIOUS jarring, you are fine.
