Stomach pain from l-glutamine

Common Questions and Answers about Stomach pain from l-glutamine

stomach-pain

Avatar m tn My naturopath put me also on L-Glutamine on an empty stomach, but it is also supposed to help with joint pain so I am unsure as to why your body is reacting that way. Maybe the dosage is to high for you? Excess L-Glutamin does cause amonia buildup in the blood but usually not until excess of 5 grams.
4565515 tn?1373411085 I've been having constant stomach pain that feels like gas and I've been bloated for the past week and a half. My period is due this week Wednesday, but I've never had these kinds of symptoms before. It feels like I really have to go to the bathroom or pass gas but I rarely do, and when I do it only momentarily releives the symptoms... So what's up with me?
Avatar f tn i know absolutely nothing about tramadol. but the l-glutamine has been great. i have been taking it since quitting hydros last dec. if i go for a week or 2 not taking them i can tell the difference. my thinking is quicker and much clearer with them and i think they may even give a little energy or that is from the good food diet. the l-theanine is good for detoxing, it helps to calm you down. but now everything i am not sure is good to mix with tramadol withdrawl or not.
387767 tn?1345872027 But what is really bothering me is the burning and pain in the rectum area from going to the bathroom so much. I have tried the Prep. H ointment and cream and the Tucks pads but this seems to make it burn worse. It's very painful. The doctor wants me to get a colonoscopy, it's past time, I'm 52 yrs. old. But I am so afraid of the *cleaning out* part because of the burning pain from repeat bm's. I keep putting it off. Any ideas on what to do? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have been going through w/d from opiates and it really is hard but the amino acids and vitamins have helped. I went to the health store and bought the L-tyrosine 500mg and the L-Glutamine 500mg and today I had a lot more energy and the deep depression must be better because I laughed and smiled:) Twice a day I take those and the SAM-e, calcium, super b complex, 5-HTP, magnesuim and a multi vitamin. Drink lots of water and juices. The crying bouts have stopped as well as the leg cramps.
562501 tn?1223921789 Yes L-Glutamine is very good idea for cancer patients. In-fact, one company picked up on it and included it in their 'Juven' drink (I believe the same company that makes ensure). Typically 5g to 10g per day is the recommended (not milligrams but GRAMS). Also helps with chemo's that attack the intestine; some research also says it helps with chemo itself. GNC sells flavorless L-Glutamine you can put in any drink.
Avatar f tn If it is from chemo you had in the past, take 2 rounded tsp of L-glutamine in water daily. If you see improvement by the end of your "bucket" of glutamine, it works for you. If it doesn't, it never will. You can find glutamine in any stores that has prducts for body builders. hope this helps. it is from feedback of many patients...
Avatar f tn Then one other thing that would benefit your digestion would be L-glutamine. You are supposed to take this as a powder mixed in something like almond milk. If you normally consume dairy, try stopping at least milk and substitute almond milk or flax milk or something. If these things don't work, the very expensive Rx I take is called Amitiza. It seems to target a particular gas pocket for me that seems to be holding up "traffic.
Avatar n tn wheat may be causing your bloty as well. Tale L-glutamine powder (5 grams per day) to help keep enterocytes in better shape. This also raises glutathione (GSH) levels, and GSH is the major liver cell protection enzyme. (precaution, don't take L-glutamine if pregnant. It is unstudied.
Avatar f tn It sounds like old blood possibly, or something to do with your enzyme problem or the supplements, but see if you are getting L-glutamine in your supplement. If not, add it along with a prebiotic. L-glutamine is good for healing the gut.
Avatar m tn I had the same problem I had lifted weights and thought I had pulled a muscle.. left side near rib cage. It never went away.. until I figured out that I actually had a food intolerance.. it was my muscles contracting or spasming when digesting, moving food through my system. I cut out lactose and gluten and my IBS went away. Food can cause a huge amount of weird symptoms.. I didn't figure this out until I ended up having so much damage I had to get my appendix out.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Keep supplementing the vitamin d. You could get tested for Celiac disease. That causes malabsorption and can therefore cause vitamin D deficiency. The vit D deficiency causes the hypercalcemia you described. Get some sunlight also in safe amounts. Maybe L-argimine and L-glutamine would help you like it's helped me by helping digestion. Probiotics may even help, but this is just general health support.
451053 tn?1237577749 I too had mouth sores...I used L-Glutamine to relieve them. It worked immediately. Glutamine is an amino acid which is produced by the body in the digestive track. Chemo kills it. Glutamine is a supplement sold at GNC stores and health food places. It's a powder that you can mix with pudding, lemonade, etc. I used one tablespoon of it, mixed with an 8-ounce glass of water, as a mouthwash. Incredible stuff.
415684 tn?1257329318 You can add L-Glutamine to the mix as well as this is used by many cancer patients to prevent mouth sores. You can pick up L-Glutamine at places like GNC which sell an unflavored mix so you can add it to anything. Typical dosage is about 5g to 10g (*NOT* mg but g=grams) 3x day. Here is one, of many, research papers on the effect of L-Gluatmine: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9762946?
Avatar m tn Please help me I don't know if I have bile build up or gallbladder attack. I've had gas since the week before Christmas. I have gas pains in my stomache, chest, both sides, back. I've had it before and it took awhile to get rid of it. I sleep well with Little or no pain, but most mornigs I wake up with pain and sometimes when I'm active. Today I haven't had much pain until Late this afternoon and have had small throbing pains in my upper stomache and sides. I'm scared.
Avatar f tn Try Metamucil to control the GERD. Try a probiotic. Try digestive enzymes. Try L-glutamine. Try a whole-food vitamin supplement.
Avatar m tn The symptoms are not as severe as they used to be and I am slowly getting back into a normal lifestyle. However, I do still have faint stomach pain and occasional nausea just about every day. I'm not sure if that is because I was so used to having such pain for a long time or what... but regardless it is still there and it worries me because I feel as if I will never feel normal again.
200220 tn?1361951554 Someone on this forum is taking l-glutamine. I hope you read this and answer me. I am taking it again and this time I am not under the doctor's care. I would like to ask your doseage and what times you take it and what for. I have been researching it and it seems to be good for brain fog and other brain functions along with many other positive side effects. I am taking l000mg twice a day. Maybe someone else is taking this too.
