Common Questions and Answers about Social anxiety workshop

620923 tn?1452919248 I know what all of you are feeling like with being scared and worried etc.. Misslissa528 - that is so typical of so many doctors - I have diagnosed doctors with having serious anxiety / stress obsessions. Its very scarey I know. But welcome and sorry I havent replied to you before but still new myself and only just found out we have a social scene!!!
Avatar n tn Actually therapy was quite short - about six months whereby an art therapist taught her how to interact socially without annoying her peers - this was during her Grade 2 year (she is now in Grade 7) . Anxious children do not have age-appropriate social skills and she was so ready to learn. At the time, I did not believe this as our grandchild was over-socialized, but it was true.
Avatar n tn I would not recommend getting frustrated, mad, exasperated, impatient, anxious, and physical from my own personal experiences. My anxiety level is like a barometer... If people around me are anxious I pick up their anxiety. The more anxious they are, the more anxious I am. If you are getting exasperated, angry, and frustrated, then I will be too. I will be anxious and angry that you _are_ making me angry and anxious. Physically if my dad lashed out against me, I returned the same gesture.
Avatar n tn i have had anxiety attacks for many years. Usually only a few a year but they were pretty heavy (including passing out in some cases). i had a relatively "normal" life though. My doctors put me on Celexa and i had a trememdous psychotic reaction. i now have fear all day. i stopped the drug after a week (only took 10mg a day) and the symptoms have subsided a little, but i'm still highly anxious all the time.
Avatar f tn My daughter is in kindergarten and loves it. She is very social and is friends with everyone in her class. She loves her teachers but never speaks to them. If asked a question in a group setting or in a one on one with one of her teachers she refuses to speak. If something is bothering her, she will not approach any adult for help. If I send her to school with something to give her teacher, she won't do it. He grades are suffering because she won't answer questions by her teacher.
Avatar m tn There is an association between relapse and social supports across a range of addictions. Involving the family or significant other of the addicted client in individual or multiple family group sessions can reduce the risk of relapse. Such involvement has many potential benefits: It provides the counseling staff with an opportunity to learn about the client’s family, observe how family members interact, and gain input from the family. It can facilitate compliance with treatment.
Avatar m tn Last year I noticed a change in my fiancé. He was having severe anxiety, was always to tired or couldn't sleep at all. Than the rage attacks started. He would become someone I didn't even know. Smashing holes in walls, breaking things, saying things he wouldn't normally say. In that time we went to many therapists and a neurologist. After 6 months we finally found his thyroid levels were at 20 something.
Avatar n tn Then find out where you can attend the workshop that is based on this book. I attended the 12 week workshop twice. You will be with people going through exactly the same thing. You will learn that you are NORMAL, and that you will heal. You will identify where you are in the healing process and continue climbing the steps until you reach freedom. These workshops did much more for me than individual therapy . . .and it is affordable. When you DO get over this relationship . . . and you WILL .
Avatar n tn I was going crazy when i knew I had to wait 3 months for a conclusive answer, But I found going to the gym/exercising helped me take my mind off of it. The anxiety sometimes made me anti-social, so I would goto the Gym almost every day. Exercise helps with anxiety for sure. Good luck.

Avatar f tn I found throughout my childhood imagining I'm driving a stick-shift truck or car (using the toilet plunger as the stick) gave me enough distraction to make the process a little less boring and ease anxiety. ---------- I can't speak for him. It could be any one of what I mentioned or a completely unrelated thing. That's something you'll need to coax out of him yourself, but in a non confrontational manner.
Avatar f tn Its only because of my tenacity and personal strength that has stopped me going into a wheelchair before now. Please let me assure you I used to run a workshop for the blind who were taught computers by a BLIND TUTOR, I kid you not. Her newsletter can be read on line, she is simply amazing. With her help there have been a lot of blind or partially blind people now able to send emails and google so there is a way around it even if it would be hard to do.
Avatar n tn I see lots of threads on here with the same topic, but they all have to do with taking medications, being overweight, being a current/past smoker, being depressed/having anxiety, etc. Please help - I'm tired of living like this. I'm worried that I could be living with something undiagnosed that could rear it's ugly head one day.
Avatar f tn Sorry that you had anxiety and it woke you up. I know how that is. I get anxiety a lot too. Its hard to deal with that. I hope you were able to get back to sleep. Im doing ok right now. So Im in a pretty ok mood. Really? You think things werent the same without me? I dont see why. Aww thanks for saying that. I wasnt sure if it was ok or not. I am glad that you think my new welcome thing is ok. And it will up there for a long time til I take it down or something or do a new one in the future.
955456 tn?1316230779 It was flu like symptoms people describe, but I think they forget to mention that on top of those feelings you are mean, weeping, frustrated, anxious, tired, but unable to sleep. I took one xanax a day to curb the anxiety, which is nothing, I have panic attacks constantly since I was 17yrs old, 13 yrs ago. I went to the ER numerous times thinking I was having a heart attack, but no, just panic attack.
314833 tn?1263263099 I wasn't sure if the tag was supposed to be only for memeber of "MedHelp Social" but I tagged these people....
Avatar m tn Day 2 to 3 was the worst for me, it wasn't brutal though, mostly aches and anxiety. Sleeping was a problem until i remembered i had some valium available from a prior treatment. If you feel the need to smoke pot, do it, as long as it helps you through the symptoms, whatever it takes.Do not do it with alcohol though as the next day becomes magnified to the extreme. After day 3 you should start to notice a difference and it gets better day by day.
Avatar m tn I stopped exercising (just doing minor streatching). I don't feel weak, but the anxiety or anticipation of stuff is more than the side effects. I guess ignorance sometimes is a bliss. My doc asked me to get Creatinine Clearance test done, to ensure the damage to kidney's is avoided, by adjusting the dosage. Remember this drug is cleared by Kidney function and one should have sufficient muscle in the body.
93210 tn?1287457826 Hello mocha5478~ I am having the lap-band surgery next week after a great deal of research on the subject as well as a great deal of soul searching.
Avatar m tn I don't want to scare people but you need to be informed of all possibilities. However, anxiety does come from pain, and from some diseases. I have had it from the pain cycle and it goes hand in hand no matter how hard to you try to avoid it. I find biofeed back breathing exercises helpful. But that doesn't mean that it is the cause of your problem just like anxiety wasn't the cause of my back pain or migraines.
251922 tn?1193786078 believe it or not the vlcd isn't that hard because we just aren't that hungry. a warning though......eating is as much a social habit (as addictive as smoking i think in some cases) as much as it is a functional need. those of us who liked to eat and enjoyed entertaining with friends/famile etc really missed the act of eating more than we missed the actual food. that part is not easy.
Avatar n tn I was just wondering if anyone could tell me when I should start to having pregnancy symptoms after iui. I am 6 days post iui and yesterday I started feeling naused. It woke me up during the night and I still feel the same today. I don't know if I have a bug or if is maybe a sign. I also took 10,000 units of HCG trigger shot but it has been 8 days since I had shot so I don't know if that could be it. Please HELP!!!
