Common Questions and Answers about Social anxiety hypnosis

Avatar m tn Hi Richs28. Welcome to the forum. Social anxiety, can be managed or treated, and the key to successful treatment is finding the underlying cause. 1.It could be that one has a genetic predisposition to this. 2.It might have to do with brain physiology and neurotransmitters etc. 3.The other possibility is emotional factors. With #1 well there's no better way than keeping the predisposition as such.
Avatar n tn While it helped me get rid of the depression quickly, I still had some anxiety issues (mostly in social situations). Recently, I've started using anti-anxiety hypnosis, and it really works better than anything else I've ever tried and I feel so much less anxious now, it's incredible. I just have a self-hypnosis CD that I listen to every day.
Avatar m tn Thank You sooooooooo much. I am going to try your suggestions. I to, used to be able to drive the freeway like a crazy person. I actually LOVED the freeway & driving itself now I fear it everyday. I take back roads to work & have not driven the xpressway in a year but I want to so bad. Avatar m tn Not that it matters at all, and it doesn't change what happens to you. In my humble opinion, I think you're dealing with a bit of social anxiety here. Which I think affects all of us to a certain extent when we meet someone we're physically attracted to. It would be classified as a psychological problem. You state you've had this problem for the past 3-4 years. How did you handle this kind of situation before then? Did something happen that may have triggered this new response?
Avatar n tn I’ve suffered from anxiety for quite a few years (although only realised in the last couple of years) but it seems to be affecting me more frequently in the last year or so. I seem to have episodes that last maybe a week then I’m ok for a few weeks then it comes back again. I have no real idea what triggers these episodes but I do know they make me so miserable and the lack of sleep during them only makes the situation ten times worse.

Avatar n tn Does anyone else have head issues and have been told that it is anxiety? I am about tired of this constant head pressure/pain that I keep getting. Its very weird. I will wake up in the morning and feel ok, then about 1/2 hour later this pressure/pain will start on the left side of my head near the top. It will seem to intensify and then lessen itself throughout the day with no real rhyme or reason to when it is worse or better.
572651 tn?1531002957 the nerve attacks, as i call them, i don't think they are anxiety, i think they are flares. the anxiety i get from some social aspects, etc, yeah, i guess that is a form of anxiety. i started taking cymbalta at various mg's to help with irritability mainly due to discomfort/pain. i'm sure it helps with intermittant depression. i'm a little "touchy" about the depression due to the many mis-diagnosed labels the VA placed on me over the years. part of my quasi-ptsd issues i'm told.
Avatar n tn the beats. Heart attack symptoms are a trademark of anxiety, and PVCs/PACs can certainly be exacerbated by anxiety. Caffeine and sugar can bring them on, but usually it's a different trigger. Caffeine, for me, has little effect - though I haven't had it for about two years now, just as a precaution.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have been having a really awful time! Anxiety can produce ALL of the symptoms you list. Focus on treating the anxiety, not the physical sensations. Psychotherapy, biobehavioral techniques, and medication can all be helpful. Now that you have been throughly checked out medically, the task is to feel the anxiety in your heart and mind and let your body go back to being a body, not a set of hooks to hang the anxiety on.
Avatar m tn The only thing that seems to help overcome my social anxiety is alcoholic beverages. I can talk to people without fear. Sorry for the long story. I just wanted you to get to know about what I have dealt/am dealing with and a little information about me prior to you providing any definitive answers. Basically, I want to know if cognitive behavioural therapy or hypnosis has been a help to anyone with these similar quirks and have tried these therapies.
Avatar n tn Hi, my daughter is 10 yrs old, she has anxiety and has trouble sleeping. She gets shaky and feels scared to go to bed. I have tried relaxation music, soft lighting, some hypnotherapy, talking about her fears, having a tv on quietly to help distract her, etc. It used to be that she knew what she was afraid of and we could try to address it, hypnotherapy can work sometimes for this.

Avatar f tn I'm 17 years old and in the past 5 months I've tried 5 different antidepressants. They all turned out horrible and made my social anxiety and depression much worse. I'm currently on my 6th medicine, Lamictal, and am terrified to increase the dose. I'm at 25mg, which my psychiatrist said is an extremely small dose, but I don't want to increase it. It's not helping me at the current dose and I'm still severely depressed.
Avatar n tn I am seeing a social worker, church counselor and nurse/psychiatrist who has me on two anti-anxiety meds and prozac and I am getting a new MD doctor who can also prescribe meds. I've even tried energy healing and self hypnosis! The meds (especially Xanax) really are the only things that help this condition on me. Do you (anyone) think this could be thyroid or parathyroid related? I have an appt. coming up with a new MD doctor-would it be worth having thyroid checked.
Avatar f tn Beta blockers have mostly been studied for just a couple forms of anxiety, the one I know the most being social anxiety. Also know that pot isn't the greatest drug for anxiety -- it does help some with PTSD in studies and in experience, but many of us got our anxiety problems while stoned so be aware that any drug that turns you inward might just focus you more on your anxiety. Then again, it might work.
Avatar n tn I'm not depressed, and although I have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder I've been able to live pretty normally. But with this desperate fear, I haven't been able to sleep, or to really think about anything else. I've had to return to smoking, despite not really wanting to. I feel almost normal again. Is there any known tie between quitting smoking and severe anxiety and panic attacks? I really would love to quit smoking, but find myself unable to.
Avatar n tn Other treatments include medications such as clomipramine (an antidepressant that is felt to directly help the stuttering rather than the social anxiety), ripseridol (an antipsychotic not for any mental illness, but again for the stuttering) and botox injection of the vocal cords (which also comes with "baggage" including expense and significant risk of side effects, but should last for about 3 months).
