skelaxin

Avatar f tn PS I don't see anything wrong with taking a muscle relaxant at night with your pain pill.Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant. Perhaps it will work better now that all the opiates are out of your system. In Canada we are able to buy some muscle relaxants otc.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
402205 tn?1230481005 Hi everyone, I have a question. I am 13 days clean from hydrocodones (about 4-8 a day for 4 months). I just had a car accident and don't want to take anything for the pain. I was wondering about muscle relaxers. I've never had a problem taking them before. Should I take them? Will it make me relapse? Any help would be appreciated!
Avatar m tn Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
Avatar m tn Skelaxin I got prescribed when I got in a car accident for a muscle relaxer, It didnt really do much of anything but make me feel like gumby, drunk and out of it. Its not for chronic or severe pain BUT it is for MUSCLE pain, like muscle spasms. From being a former EMT (Paramedic) I know it works in the brain to help with the relaxation of muscle pain, its also used for physical therapy with people with back problems.
Avatar m tn It is habit forming. Again, it is ONLY for muscle spasms or any other muscle problem. It will NOT help with the pain in your back. I suggest you call your doctor and ask for something else. There are several muscle relaxers that are not habit forming and work for that issue. Let us know how you are doing and what you decided.
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar f tn I have also tried Soma and it didn't do much for my myofacial pain and muscle spasms. I can't see how people would want to abuse them. I have been on Flexeril for 7 years. I take one 10 mg tablet 3 times a day. Back in the day before my pain worsened due to DDD progression, all I took for pain was Flexeril.
Avatar m tn Soma is a muscle relaxer. I am on Norco an was on Soma a few months ago. I have muscle pain as well as arthritis and nerve pain in my back so the Soma did help with the muscle pain. Now that I'm not on Soma my back just burns with muscle pain. I really want to go back on it. Soma works right away when you take it. The only drawback is that it will make you sleepy.
585414 tn?1288941302 Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant used to treat muscle spasm and the resulting pain or discomfort. Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations. You should not take these drugs without consulting your Physician and without a prescription, i gave the functions of these drugs for your information only. Take care!
Avatar m tn I have had a headache for now 31 days in a row without any real relief. It started out (I think) with a stiff neck- Couldn't touch chin to chest) and the same day I started with a headache. They almost follow a pattern everyday, I wake up with it, it gets better after I'm up for awhile and almost gone into afternoon, but around 4 pm comes back and keeps going for the rest of the night (almost worse when I lay down).
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar f tn As far as the Skelaxin is concerned, if you are having muscle pain, then maybe it will work for you, but again, profound side effects. and I should say here too, that most of these meds carry a risk of dependence and addiction as well. The Celebrex, hmmm...might work for you, might not...but you said you could not take NSAIDs and this is an NSAID. The Emla patches are similar to Lidoderm patches and really only work for topical issues...they do not affect deep tissue...
Avatar n tn ve had been doctor experiences and am suffering from lingering bitterness. As for skelaxin, I have never had that medication do any good for me. I can't tell any difference between taking it or not taking it. I like zanaflex better. it actually does help spasms for me. If you are unable to do your physical therapy, are you doing at least he range of motion activites and having the ultrasound done? I have never had luck with active physical therapy and uually end up losing range of motion.
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar m tn s getting to the point where I have to ask my family doc to prescribe me something stronger for pain control, because the pain is getting more and more frequent. I'v e tried regular otc meds like tylenol and Ibruprofen and in the past nsaids like Toradol and Naproxen. But they just dont seem to relieve the pain. Would you have any suggestions Dr J?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Presented to ER with severe headahce (worst in my lifetime) eye pain and vision loss, red hot stiff neck, fever and general lack of energy. Was on prednisone for 3 months and Skelaxin (muscle relaxant). I am much better but still having weird head pains (feels like my brain is sloshing around) neck pain on right side with tenderness right under the ear, and eye pain (both eyes feel sore behind the socket). No longer on any meds but still having symptoms that no one can diagnosis.
Avatar n tn My husband had a bike accident on Sunday landing on his head (helmet) & shoulder. No Insurance. Went to ER. After several xrays, yes he's got a broken collar bone on right side but excrutiating pain in left shoulder. Finally got a CT and confirmed small linear defect present at C7 involving C6 & C7 joint with a small non-displaced fracture. Disk space narrowing at C5-6, C6-7 with marginal posterior spurring. Moderate post bulging at C5-6, and minimal post bulging at C3-4.
Avatar f tn Ellie is right that about different drugs not working. I've never tried Skelaxin but I am under the impression it's similar to flexeril and soma. Flexeril offers me a small amount of relief, and soma offers me about 10x that amt however I developed an addiction to the soma and had to get off of it. my pain mgmt doctor has suggested Voltaren Gel (also called "diclofenac", it's an NSAID) and it goes on the skin. I have to take ambien or unisom to sleep most nights.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you work for UPS or something - that's a tough job! I have a lot of joint pain and, for me, the only OTC med that helps is liquid gel Advil. Be careful though, my doctor told me that ibuprofen can kill your kidneys. I hope you find relief.
Avatar f tn For the past few weeks I've had a burning pain under my ribs on the left side that seems to radiate through to my back in the same spot and also my upper back. Sometimes I feel pain in my left arm and sometimes the pain is shooting or throbbing in all of those areas. It seems to come and go throughout the day. It hurts to cough (if I have to cough) and also to breath in deeply. I have no fever, cough, chills or any other symptoms besides pain.
Avatar m tn I would think Flexerill or skelaxin etc. would be better for muscle tightness and soreness. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn Anyone have any good recommendations for helping dull the pain...I have tried all the antidepresants and tricyclic antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and anticonvulsants and ibuprofen and naproxen and tramadol and all combos and I am feeling lost can't hardly move some days...please help with any suggestions.
