Skelaxin and neck pain

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and neck pain

skelaxin

Avatar f tn I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Avatar n tn I have arthritis in my neck and it causes headaches and pain in the neck to the middle of my back. This condition can also affect the arms/hands/legs with tingling, numbness, etc.... I just found out that I have it about a month ago. Good luck.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar n tn I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help. So finally she gave a prescription of Tramadol 50mg.. it doesn't work. I don't what to do, I can sleep, I can't move my head, it's hard to drive.
Avatar f tn Presented with severe headache/eye pain and loss of vision and hot/stiff neck. Was also involved in auto accident day before ER presentation. Was given prednisone for 2 1/2 months along with large doses of Skelaxin. MRI was negative for any lesions, cancer, etc.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.

It helped some but the pain comes back priodically. My C6 & C7 are showing signs of being degeneratve. I have been having discomfort in all of my joints but the most pain is in my right elbow. At times I cannot even extend it to is full length without pain shooting up and down my arm. I have also been told I have onset of carpel tunnel.
Avatar m tn Hi, my husband is disabled with chronic severe back/leg/hip pain from multiple failed surgeries and and one of his pain management meds is Flexeril, that Clean mentioned. He too gets wicked muscle spasms and takes the Flexeril for that. It helps him. I am an opiate addict (for effect) but do get bad lower back pain at night, probably from carrying 60 pounds on my small frame during pregnancy...and I am getting older.
Avatar f tn Presented to ER with severe headahce (worst in my lifetime) eye pain and vision loss, red hot stiff neck, fever and general lack of energy. Was on prednisone for 3 months and Skelaxin (muscle relaxant). I am much better but still having weird head pains (feels like my brain is sloshing around) neck pain on right side with tenderness right under the ear, and eye pain (both eyes feel sore behind the socket). No longer on any meds but still having symptoms that no one can diagnosis.
676302 tn?1237863491 ve had 3 cervical surgeries so I have a lot of upper back and neck pain. Hope that helps.
450140 tn?1317947304 Even if I did my body would not allow me. Thanks to all that have been leaving notes and prayers. The neck pain is still unbearable! I was put on CYMBALTA about 5 weeks ago, and have been fighting with nauseua with that. Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think.
Avatar n tn I have had rotator cuff and labrum repair and had the same pain and knots at the base of my neck and down the edge of my shoulder blade. FINALLY, they sent me to a pain management center and I received a series of 3 Trigger Point injections..they actually inject a steroid type med right into the knots, doesn't really hurt, just a bee sting! But it worked!!!!! Good luck, the pain is awful and I sympathize with you.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I feel pain in my left arm and sometimes the pain is shooting or throbbing in all of those areas. It seems to come and go throughout the day. It hurts to cough (if I have to cough) and also to breath in deeply. I have no fever, cough, chills or any other symptoms besides pain. I've been to several doctors, had a shoulder xray and blood tests done. All three seem to think it's muscular. Does anyone else have experience with these pains?
Avatar f tn s truly a scapula disorder and not a radicular pain from the neck. Thanks everyone for your help so far, and if there are any other suggestions I'd really appreciate them.
Avatar m tn ve being evaluated by Internist, Neurologist, Chiro, Phisiatrist and recently a pain management doctor, although I dont have major pain; it is more like neck and back spasms. Being on more than 10 medications: Celebrex, Neurontin, Baclofen, Skelaxin, Relafen, Flexeril, to mention some. Things thar really work for me are Baclofen and Lidoderm patches, although some days I still have the spasms. A Cervical MRI showed: Straightening is noted suggesting spasm. Correlate clinically.

Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
517902 tn?1314715429 It can be very difficult to cope with the symptoms of neck pain and other issues related to chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia. Not having insurance makes obtaining evaluation and medical treatment even more problematic. Given the hurdles to medical treatment you are currently experiencing, you do need to focus on methods of home care that you can implement yourself.
Avatar m tn I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin. I started seeing a neurologist two weeks ago and he put me on the prednisone and skelaxin he also did a MRI (w/o contrast) that came back negative.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn about 1-2 times/month and I would take an Imitrex and try and sleep it off. Over winter break, I got a headache and it stuck with me ever since. Here is a bit of history...I first noticed a knot in my neck during high school (7 years ago) and had my soccer trainer feel it, she never mentioned anything about it so I always thought it was just part of my head. Recently, I have had pain in the front left side of my head that I thought was stemming from the knot in my neck.
Avatar f tn It all depends on the source of your pain and the type of pain you're having. First of all, you're already on an antidepressant, so I'm not sure whether you can even take another one, like Cymbalta, or Triavil. . and Triavil has Amitriptyline in it. So, if the Amitriptyline is working for you at all, I can't see a reason to switch to another one. The Gabitril and Neurontin will only help most likely, if you're having nerve-related pain....
627017 tn?1222125067 s and I already have extensive degeneration from C2-C7 with narrowing of the spinal canal and I have chronic neck pain, muscle spasms in my upper back/neck, and headackes almost all the time. My neurologist told me that he was shocked when he looked at my MRI's because it looked like the cervical spine of an 80 year old and I'm only 32! My neurologist says that I will require at least one maybe two neurosurgeries to correct this structural damage in the future.
Avatar f tn Ellie is right that about different drugs not working. I've never tried Skelaxin but I am under the impression it's similar to flexeril and soma. Flexeril offers me a small amount of relief, and soma offers me about 10x that amt however I developed an addiction to the soma and had to get off of it. my pain mgmt doctor has suggested Voltaren Gel (also called "diclofenac", it's an NSAID) and it goes on the skin. I have to take ambien or unisom to sleep most nights.
