I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Back in the day before my pain worsened due to DDD progression, all I took for pain was Flexeril. My neurosurgeon at the time advised me to take the 3 10 mg doses all at once at night before bed if the muscle spasms and tightness weren't going away with the regular daily doses. He said do it on a Friday or a Saturday because it will be VERY HARD for me to get out of bed the next morning. And indeed it was!!
I have had a headache for now 31 days in a row without any real relief. It started out (I think) with a stiff neck- Couldn't touch chin to chest) and the same day I started with a headache. They almost follow a pattern everyday, I wake up with it, it gets better after I'm up for awhile and almost gone into afternoon, but around 4 pm comes back and keeps going for the rest of the night (almost worse when I lay down).
Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
I am questioning something like epidural steroid injections or triggerpoint injections for the neck - so I might continue exercising (perhaps at a reduced rate) but am also concerned about LBP with radiation in legs. Currently trying different mattresses in the house for comfort. Having trouble arising and attaining straight posture and requiring 1/2 to 1 Vicoprofen in the a.m. to begin to move with some sense of normalcy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Presented to ER with severe headahce (worst in my lifetime) eye pain and vision loss, red hot stiff neck, fever and general lack of energy. Was on prednisone for 3 months and Skelaxin (muscle relaxant). I am much better but still having weird head pains (feels like my brain is sloshing around) neck pain on right side with tenderness right under the ear, and eye pain (both eyes feel sore behind the socket). No longer on any meds but still having symptoms that no one can diagnosis.
1:) the pain/nerve issues that I have, weather from the injury etc.
2:) My OCD nature, and anxiety are not helping. I have always been llike this, just in this case it is not helping me. I am trying the best I can to step back and take it easy but then the pain kicks in and down the crap shoot I go.
He also thinks that it will help restore my balance, then ween off of it.
I hate hate hate drugs. Especially after the research I did early on with Cymbalta...! ugh.
I have been having a lot of pain in my neck for which I went to physical therapy for. It helped some but the pain comes back priodically. My C6 & C7 are showing signs of being degeneratve. I have been having discomfort in all of my joints but the most pain is in my right elbow. At times I cannot even extend it to is full length without pain shooting up and down my arm. I have also been told I have onset of carpel tunnel.
ve being evaluated by Internist, Neurologist, Chiro, Phisiatrist and recently a pain management doctor, although I dont have major pain; it is more like neck and back spasms.
Being on more than 10 medications: Celebrex, Neurontin, Baclofen, Skelaxin, Relafen, Flexeril, to mention some.
Things thar really work for me are Baclofen and Lidoderm patches, although some days I still have the spasms.

Straightening is noted suggesting spasm. Correlate clinically.
Skelaxin I got prescribed when I got in a car accident for a muscle relaxer, It didnt really do much of anything but make me feel like gumby, drunk and out of it. Its not for chronic or severe pain BUT it is for MUSCLE pain, like muscle spasms. From being a former EMT (Paramedic) I know it works in the brain to help with the relaxation of muscle pain, its also used for physical therapy with people with back problems.
capsules 300mg 1xd for fibromyalgia, Prilosec 1xd for uclers, Celebrex 1xd for inflammation causing chronic pain, Skelaxin,400mg 2-4xweek, Addarall 50mg daily for ADD, Foltrin bid for anemia, Estrovent for hot flashes, an most recently I am being bolased with 5000u Vit. D due to vit D deficiency and liquid calicium 1000mg with 400mg vit D.
I have never been much of a drinker, if i had 5 drinks/year that was a lot.
ve had been doctor experiences and am suffering from lingering bitterness. As for skelaxin, I have never had that medication do any good for me. I can't tell any difference between taking it or not taking it. I like zanaflex better. it actually does help spasms for me. If you are unable to do your physical therapy, are you doing at least he range of motion activites and having the ultrasound done? I have never had luck with active physical therapy and uually end up losing range of motion.
After feeling my neck he sent me for blood work, a CT scan and x-ray. All test came back normal. I was prescribed a steroid for six days and I recently saw a neuro-muscular massage therapist. The neurologist was not willing to prescribe me pain killers or muscle relaxers so I went back to my primary care physician who prescribed my Skelaxin and Fioricet.
Neither drug really helps me feel any better. Tylenol/Advil/Excedrin, etc. Nothing is working. This headache is just about every day...
Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again.
For the past few weeks I've had a burning pain under my ribs on the left side that seems to radiate through to my back in the same spot and also my upper back. Sometimes I feel pain in my left arm and sometimes the pain is shooting or throbbing in all of those areas. It seems to come and go throughout the day. It hurts to cough (if I have to cough) and also to breath in deeply. I have no fever, cough, chills or any other symptoms besides pain.
I've suffered chronic back pain for 10+ years. I'm off all opiates now after being on them for more than 5+ years. I'm now taking lots of vitamins and minerals to promote and maintain my general well-being. My only prescription meds now are Amitriptyline (100 mgs @ bed) and Parafon Forte (4x per day). I just got a Spinal Cord Stimulator, which helps my sciatic pain, but my lower back pain is still pretty bad.
I've had pain in my shoulder as a result of workers comp. My ortho says I need to get my rotator cuff shaved down. I've been given carisoprodol (generic soma) but only 20 of them...I've had the bottle now 5 months, they don't help. I still lie awake in pain...and when I use my Enar device it rarely helps. I've used Biofreeze as well...that usually tells my brain to sleep. I've tried stupid mind games to get me off of thinking of the pain ie: comp games, reading, music...

I was involved in a car accident about 2 months ago. Since then I have had severe neck and back pain which has not been helped by anything I've tried.
