402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
676302 tn?1237863491 Hello and welcome, There are quite a few muscle relaxers out there that work very well for fibro. In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn ve taken Norco for a long time, I think I need to add a muscle relaxer to my pain man. regimen. Is Soma a muscle relaxer or a narcotic? I've taken Skelaxin but it takes several doses over a period of a few days to get relief. I would like something that works a little faster.
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed that. Its a muscle relaxer. I did not like it at all. It gave me an "out of control" feeling like being a little drunk. It made me feel "heavy" too. Like my legs weighted a ton. Thats what it did to me. I hope it works for you.
1243543 tn?1269124022 flexeril (I believe it's the same thing your dr gave you) is a good muscle relaxer. I haven't had too many wierd side effects other than the sleepiness and since it is not time released you can cut it in half if you need. I'd suggest taking the 1/2 and if it doesn't work take a whole 10mg thing and see if it helps. Flexeril helps me better than the other similar strength stuff so I try to take it at night and then again first thing in the morning.
Avatar n tn The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also. I would tell your Doc that the pain reliever is not working and request something stronger.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, Skelaxin is a muscle relaxer as you know, right? While it is not classified as an opiate, anything is addictive. Baby aspirin are addictive. Are you being prescribed this medication? Are you abusing it?
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar f tn Hi Thirdeye, Good to hear from you but sorry about your issues the Muscle Spasms and medications to relieve it. Tizanidine is used to relieve the spasms and increased muscle tone caused by multiple sclerosis (MS ). Apparently it is being used "off label" to treat your muscle spasms... unless you have MS and I have forgotten that fact. It is a short acting agent and is usually prescribed two or more often three times a day.
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
Avatar m tn I have had good luck in the past with a muscle relaxer by the name of Soma (caristoprodol) (spelling). Also valium is great for the spasms too.
Avatar m tn So not sure how long you have been on this but usually a patient once they are used to the side effects and they have diminshed is moved up to get better nerve pain relief. I do agree with getting at least 2 other opinions from Board Certified Neurosurgeons (make sure they are Fellowship trained as well) to see if surgery is really needed. Things have advanced in the last 11 years so it may be something that can help stabalize your spine. I've had 3 fusions over the last 11 years.....
198419 tn?1360242356 Thanks you guys! I'll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil?
210982 tn?1280983895 Its a muscle relaxer ..Some people have mental addictions to it ... How are you doing are you off the opeates now ?
703238 tn?1297098358 and no..That is absolutely NOT a bad thing..You are human, it is natural to want to feel good..Please don't hate yourself for it..My mother takes Flexiril and that really helps her..It eases you into sleep and you sleep all night. It is also a muscle relaxer and not so 'hardcore' Or maybe try Skelaxin?
Avatar m tn Are you aware that narcs can make it worse? There have to be some other medication out there to help with fibro without the side effects of narcs.
Avatar f tn I am no Doctor but Baclofen is a muscle relaxer? I can't imagine it causing more spasticity.
Avatar m tn My side effects from the amrix were very little to non at all.I believe it is a great muscle relaxer/sleep aid if one needed it to be... Good med.
Avatar n tn My husband had a bike accident on Sunday landing on his head (helmet) & shoulder. No Insurance. Went to ER. After several xrays, yes he's got a broken collar bone on right side but excrutiating pain in left shoulder. Finally got a CT and confirmed small linear defect present at C7 involving C6 & C7 joint with a small non-displaced fracture. Disk space narrowing at C5-6, C6-7 with marginal posterior spurring. Moderate post bulging at C5-6, and minimal post bulging at C3-4.
8398640 tn?1398042546 They first tried Skelaxin and that didn't help at all. Skelaxin is for sure a muscle relaxer. Baclofen is a muscle relaxer but it's more of an anti-spastic one. Baclofen works the best by far for me. They usually start you out low and then, if they need to, they'll work you up to a higher dose. I started at 10mg 2 times a day. Now I'm at 20 mg 3 to 4 times a day (just about the max dose that you can take orally). I can still drive.
Avatar m tn Is it a prescibed cream? If not check with your doctor first, as with any new medication-even over the counter items. /i have tried some creams like ben-gay and things like that, but they only helped minimally.
Avatar f tn Here is a list of side effects from the medication your doctor prescribed. Gastrointestinal side effects have included diarrhea (4.7% to 5.1%), abdominal pain (3.5% to 4%), nausea (2.8% to 3.3%), vomiting (1.4% to 2.2%), and flatulence (1.4% to 2.6%).
